Ichigo sighed as he rubbed the back of his head. “...You’re right, I guess.” He scowled as he looked her in the eyes and crossed his arms. “Still...it’s weird coming from you.”

“Huh?” Ichigo asked in confusion as he looked down at both his shoes and blinked. “What are you talking about?! I don’t see anything!”

Ichigo sighed in relief as he exited the First Division and donned his captain’s haori. He passed the Captain’s Exam with flying colors, which Shinji told him before that it was to be expected since he was already at Captain’s level. Still though, he didn’t know much Kido so he had been nervous about it. He was grateful to Shunsui for making his stay in the Soul Society as easy as it could be, and now for actually letting him become a captain even though he hadn’t even gone to the academy. If he were honest with himself, he would have to admit that when he came to live in the Seireitei and became a full Soul Reaper, he never expected to become captain. He was sure that he would become a Lieutenant at most. But when Shinji recommended him for the Eighth Division Captain’s seat, he thought ‘why not?’ and now that he actually passed he was still a little shocked but grateful to his former captain.

Walking on, he decided to stop by the Thirteenth Division to go and tell Rukia how he did. He was sure that she she was probably just waiting to find out how he did, well both her and Renji. But he figured that Renji could wait since Byakuya was probably on him to do his paperwork. He chuckled as he thought about his other best friend having to deal with that. Byakuya was probably one of the stricter captains, along with Soifon. Though, if he had to choose the strictest lieutenant, then he would say that it would probably be between Shunsui’s and his new lieutenant. Now that he thought about it, he was pretty sure that Lisa was going to be a hard ass. But he guessed that he would deal with that. For now, it was time to go celebrate his promotion.

Nodding to some Soul Reapers as they they bowed to him, Ichigo hurried along to the Thirteenth Division. The longer he dawdled, the more annoyed Rukia was going to get, he was sure of it. And speaking from experience, that would be such a pain to deal with. Scowling, he decided that it would be better to just use Shunpo to get there. Without another glance around himself, he Shunpo’d over to the Thirteenth Division entrance. “Yo, Rukia!” He called out as he went straight to her office. He ignored the stares and whispes of the other Thirteenth Division members and scowled as he finally got to her office. “Yo, what’s up?” He asked as he went into the office without even bothering to knock. He figured that she was probably just doing some paperwork and wouldn’t really care all that much if he just went in, besides it wasn’t really his style to knock before coming in.

“Renji…..Lieutenant Abarai you mean? Uhm… I don’t think so…”

Yukine was a bit stunned and in awe that he was facing a captain for the first time. The way they donned their white haori, and their reitsu was on a whole different level than that of a 4th seat. Yukine hadn’t noticed they’ve been staring for a long while with paperwork in his hands, but snaps out of it.

“S-sorry! I didn’t mean to stare. My name is Yukine. I’m the Fourth Seat of Squad Five. I don’t think I know of you though. “

“Yeah, that’s him.” He wanted to have his lunch with him, but he just didn’t know where to find him. He already checked the Sixth Division and couldn’t find him there either. Looking at the other, he put his hand on the back of his head and furrowed his eyebrows. “That’s alright, I guess i’ll go check the Thirteenth Division, maybe he’s with Rukia?” He frowned as he muttered to himself, thinking of where the redhead could be.

Shaking his head to get rid of his thoughts, he focused on the awestruck boy and gave him a small smile. “That’s alright, i’m the new Captain of the Eighth Division. It’s nice to meet you.” Even though he used to be in the Fifth Division before becoming captain, he hadn’t seen him around either. But then again, he was pretty much just focused on the people that he did know, so it wasn’t a surprise.

Ichigo gave him an irritated sigh as he shrugged his shoulders. “It’s nothing really, just Lisa being a pain when it comes to Captain’s duties. She’s been running me ragged!” When he took the Captain’s Exam for the Eighth Division, he never thought that Lisa would be this strict with him!

Renji gave a laugh and sighed in relief. “Oh, was that all Ichi? Ya gave me a fright - thought somethin’ drastic had happened seein’ yer gloomy face.” He offered the other a cup of coffee.

“Here, this should make ya feel better - but man, what ya expectin’? The Captaincy isn’t anythin’ ta be underestimated. Yer gonna be in charge of a whole squad of people. Of course it’s gonna run ya ragged. And of course Lisa-san isn’t someone who is tolerant of slackers either. Ya runnin’ away from yer duties right now?”

He scowled at the other and crossed his arms. “Oh, shut up!” Being hounded by that woman all day was driving him nuts, it was no wonder he looked as terrible as he felt! “It’s your fault in the first place for thinking that. Though, not being able to relax even for a little while is a little too much, if you ask me.” He took the cup and took a sip of it.

“Thanks, I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep lately so this should help.” How could he have when she kept nagging him to complete everything. It was so bothersome, even when he had school it was never this bad! “I know, I know, I just didn’t expect it to be this bad. I mean the squad’s fine and everything, she just nags me so much that it’s hard to even catch a break!” Sighing, he shook his head as he thought about how strict Lisa was. It made him wonder just how many lieutenants were strict like her. “I guess I kind of am? I just want a break from everything, besides you’re one to talk.” Grinning, he gave out a chuckle. “Byakuya probably has his hands full when it comes to you, right?”

New Indie Bleach Canon Divergent Ichigo Kurosaki RP blog. After the war, Ichigo was too powerful to go back to the World of the Living and instead became a full Soul Reaper. That was four years ago, now he’s just taken the Captain’s Exam and became Captain of the Eighth Division.
