There was nothing he disliked more than a giant reptile soaring through the sky to do nothing but wreak havoc and spit fire. 

Head bowed — he’s still searching for the entrance to the cave it is hidden within when a shadow is cast over him. As soon as light from the sun is blocked he is scrambling for cover. The necromancer sits in hiding, waiting for whatever may soon reveal itself. :.

Maybe it makes him an indecent sort, but he likes the fear. The scent of it is a cloying perfume to sidle with his natural rage. He could smell the beginnings of terror the first time he flew overhead. Those vestiges of horror had the drake in stitches. Yes, he is an indecent sort. But does he have a choice when not taking action could lead to a lighter hoard? 

A minute passes, then five. Xhuawei is crouched on top of an outcropping of rock, claws splayed across the limestone with wings outstretched and hovering. Some animals are known for their patience when pursuing their prey. A dragon hungry enough will wait days for a meal, but Wei thinks that that patience doesn't apply when he's more content with inducing fear and simply playing cat and mouse.

He is not very well suited for the over-stimulus of human celebration. Streamers and small scraps of paper decorate the sky and ground, lashing the kingdom in beautiful colors. Xhuawei's family were very modest when it came to celebration. Any considerably large holidays worth the trouble of merriment were courtesy of Zenais--Wei's human mother. None of them ever amounted to anything this big. It's a bit overwhelming combined with all the life, sounds and smells surrounding.

A small group of giggling women pass him, baskets of flowers and fresh fruit tight in their arms. One of them pauses, addressing Wei with a curtsy and the proper honorific. At the halt of their friend the rest of the group follow suit. Golden eyes follow fluidly, only mildly interested as another reaches into her basket and withdraws a poppy on the stem and holds it out to him.

                                            ❝A flower, for his majesty.❞

The sentiment is odd, even with the festival. But it's not uncommon for the people under Pan's rule to approach him with gifts. He just wishes they'd go back to offering something he can eat (like sheep or goats) instead of flowers. Ah well.

Wei does what he can to keep his lips from folding tightly with his confusion. Clawed fingertips grip the delicate flower and slide it, with some difficulty, behind his ear, to which then he gives a small albeit grateful smile.       ❝Thank you.❞ The ladies, looking delighted and satisfied with his reaction, bow again and continue on their way. A year and a half living life this way and it's still bearing surprises.

The great hall is this one's destination. After having been off hunting and stretching his wings, it's good to be back in a familiar area. It's not hard to spot Pan at the end of the hall. Armor does wonders to grasp attention. There's something of a childish spring in his step as he approaches.

  welcome to maci’s fantastic 150+ how-the-hell-did-i-get-here follow   forever! i made cole’s blog around the middle of summer right after i   finished my first reading of asunder. you guys don’t even know how   happy i am that i’ve made it this far. thank you all so, so much!
