I agree that Javadi not being a main character in season 3 makes sense if she wants to go into emergency psych but I don’t think that’s the problem. The problem is that female characters (specifically women of color) are written in roles that are disposable. Why is Samira not here when she’s in her final year of residency and has no reason to leave? Why does Walsh not make a cameo for a night shift surgical consult? Why is Jack, the night shift attending, showing up during the day? You can explain this through an in universe explanation but the writers still chose to give Jack more screen time than was necessary for the position he has. Why is Langdon here when he shouldn’t be working on the same day as Santos? Shouldn’t Robby/HR tried to have prevented them from overlapping? Why is Whitaker, who is interested in rural medicine, still working at a hospital in a major city?
I don’t think that any of these choices above are inconsistent with the story the writers are telling, but that story is one that consistently chooses to prioritize the men’s storylines over women’s.
Javadi was a main character for two seasons and we as an audience got attached to her both as a person and as a doctor. Yes, it makes for her to go into psych and to a play a minor role in season 3 but people are also allowed to be frustrated that the story they’ve invested time in doesn’t care about prioritizing her.
In hindsight, i get that. There are a lot of inconsistencies coming from the writers especially with Samira’s character where they can’t decide if they “wrote her out for the progression of the story” or in Scott’s words, “she’s just not working that day”, but i’m not talking about people who rightfully question why these specific people are leaving and know how to have a mature conversation with someone about WHY they think it’s questionable, and I’m especially not talking about people who are just sad because we possibly won’t see Javadi anymore.
I’m talking about the same people who made Samira leaving about things that don’t even relate to the actual show, and instead spread multiple malicious rumors to damage the reputation of the writers and the show producers, I’m talking about those who overreacted and harassed others for having a different opinion from them, and buried the real problems under heaps of lies that at this point it’s hard to take the actual issues that arise seriously.
The one’s who direct their hate onto actors and force them to step away from social media, the ones who scream about the rights of WOC in shows but don’t understand how their actions can affect the career of the actor they’re “advocating” for.
Why would Langdon not be working? Robby didn’t report him to HR, therefor there would be no reason to keep him from a shift with Santos, he’s repeating his 4th yr residency he’s supposed to be there. And Whitaker, so far, is being SET UP to leave for his fellowship/attending years to be done in rural emergency medicine, but there was no actual reason to kick out a character established in the first season, same how Samira was a main character established in the first season and she wasn’t booted for the second.
Walsh is night shift. This is not about night shift, and personally I believe that the issue mainly lies with woc than it is about just women, bc if it was just women why’d they bring Dana back when they said she was gonna leave? Why keep nurse Kim?
Jack, I will acquiesce, I do believe they brought him back just for fun due to how much they liked his character, the fact that he went from a guest star to an actual consistent side character is absolutely insane, and how he was js there for the entirety of s2. Maybe it was so they could show Robby having support from him, mayb it was to establish their connection since Robby was leaving, I dunno.
But all in all, there is an entirely separate part of the Pitt fandom that are nightmares to deal with, and THAT is the part of the fandom I’m addressing. The outburst isn’t as big because Samira was much more beloved than Javadi, but it is THERE. People are now addressing Noah like “he who shall not be named” and it’s stupid. They assume things about the set and they assume things about the relationships of the actors and assume the people there are bad people, then they get shut up by the actors— NOT EVEN BY NOAH HIMSELF bc truly noah couldn’t give less of a fuck— and THEN when the actors kill the rumors, they go “oh they’re definitely being threatened by him!!” “Oh they just wanna keep their jobs!!”
Coming from the same ppl who hated on Pball bc he talked about not having to struggle through life anymore btw.
It is questionable. Samira leaving was DEFINITELY questionable and we SHOULD be demanding answers, complete ones and not ones that they clearly pulled from their ass, but it’s literally so hard to believe what’s correct and what isn’t when people like this, atp, just wanna hate and hate. They don’t know how to stop watching the literal ROBBY show. They just wanna complain and send death threats and harass everybody and ruin the experience of eo.
