people especially younger queer/trans people tell me they feel represented by my art and it does make me tear up or cry because I didn't know my art could be that meaningful. I find representation for trans people like me rly invisible especially since I'm poc/black, so my art is my medicine and I'm glad others can find comfort in it.
like you can just be transgender and a boy or girl or anything and any critter however you want
my characters don't give a fuck what others think about their presentation and that confidence comes from me a lot. I think trans people should do what makes them happy ultimately, gender affirming medicine and surgery, none at all, or some of it gradually. I love you.

it heals the Tumblr ecosystem a lil bit to tell bad faith weirdos to go away

i wish ibis paint's brush making options were more diverse cuz if I could I would make a nigga brush where I got the n word and turn the text onto brush strokes and only black artists can use it non black ppl would have to ask politely.

OCD intrusive thoughts are wild.
I’ll just be sitting here and realize I’ve lost one of my earphones in the bed, and my brain will just go: you ate it.
Me: I did not.
The bastard idiot OCD left over from my trauma: you did. You ate it.
Me: I think I would know if I ate my headphone.
OCD: are you sure? Are you sure you didn’t black out and eat it? Are you? What if you blacked out and ate your earphone and now you’re dying. We should go to the hospital.
Me: we absolutely should the fuck not.
OCD: but what if you did. What if that’s why you don’t feel good right now?
Me: bitch, we have MCAS, tell me the last time we felt well.
OCD: BECAUSE YOU ATE THE HEADPHONE. YOU ATE IT AND NOW WE’RE GOING TO DIE
Me: oh. found it. The dog was laying on it.
OCD: …
Me:
OCD: there’s bleach in your drink.
Me: fucking what?
Etc, etc. rinse and repeat until infinity.
Your OCD awareness/advocacy should not stop when people have “unsavoury” obsessions. People with pOCD, zOCD, harm OCD and moral scrupulosity OCD deserve to have a place in your advocacy too. It’s a mental health disorder, it’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows.
How does OCD factor into rabies?
It’s more so “how does rabies factor into OCD?”
And the answer is that it rabies OCD is a form of contamination OCD. And rabies is probably one of the most scary, most well known contaminates out there. And actual education about rabies is notoriously poor, so you hear a whole lot of fear mongering and very little actual facts. So here are the facts:
1. Rabies is 100% preventable if you get a post exposure vaccine.
2. Post exposure vaccines are not scary. I’m telling you this as someone who is afraid of shots. It is the year of our lord 2025, rabies vaccines are not how they used to be.
3. You cannot get rabies from blood, urine, or feces. You can only get rabies from saliva, ocular fluids, and sexual fluids and it must go into an open wound or something.
4. You cannot get rabies from an animal or human who is not rabid. Even if I got bit by a rabid raccoon and then came to bite you, I would not be able to give you rabies. That isn’t how rabies works, you don’t become rabid the moment you get rabies
6. Rabies can take a while (months) to develop. This scares some people, but really it should let you know that if you actually got bit or scratched, you will be fine. Call the health department or call your local wildlife rehabber. They know what’s what for *your* specific area. They might tell you don’t need a shot, they might say you do.
7. If you aren’t a little kid, you will know if a bat bit you. Yes—you can feel it. It hurts. I’ve watched people get bit by bats. I’ve seen bat bites after the fact. Might you sleep through a bat bite? Yes. But you will know the next morning if you see a bat in your room. If you see a bat? Go to the doctor.
8. Rabies is rare in the US, both in humans and in animals. Don’t touch wildlife, but also don’t be afraid going about your daily business that a rabid raccoon snuck into your bedroom at night and French kissed you.
9. The best way to protect yourself against rabies is to keep a respectful distance from all wildlife and stray animals
While I am glad that ARFID has been getting more awareness recently, it really does bother me when people claim that it's something only autistic people have or when they call it the "sensory issues eating disorder".
Because while ARFID certainly can present that way, by definition it's just any clinically significant restrictive eating or feeding disturbance that isn't body image based. It also commonly presents as:
Lack of interest in food or eating—such as a result of major depressive disorder, schizoid personality disorder, the negative symptoms of schizophrenia spectrum disorders, dissociative disorders, etc
Avoidance of specific foods that are PTSD triggers, or of eating as a whole due to traumatic events that happened around mealtimes or in kitchens or dining rooms
Avoiding food due to phobias surrounding vomiting, choking, allergic reactions, etc
Avoiding food due to OCD surrounding due to magical thinking around the consequences of eating (i.e. fearing that a loved one will die if you eat a specific food), obsessions surrounding poisoning or allergic reactions, or food restriction as a compulsion
Avoiding food as a result of delusions or paranoia in schizophrenia spectrum disorders, paranoid personality disorder, etc
And so on. Of course AFRID as a result of autism and sensory processing disorder deserve awareness as well, but it would be great if people could develop a more holistic view of the different ways ARFID can present instead of just calling it "the autism eating disorder".
paranoia triggers r so funny like "oooh a scary thing happened, time to put ur brain in the worst mode imaginable so you can respond to this threat as irrationally as possible"

crazy how some of you are "thought crimes arent real!" until someone with a disorder that revolves around intrusive thoughts exists and suddenly we're the devil reincarnated for having thoughts we can't control but don't act on
I feel like I would have been diagnosed with OCD a lot earlier if the vast majority of screening questions (for mental illnesses in general) weren't based on the person's perception of their own behavior, in isolation. and what i mean by that is asking someone with OCD "do you wash your hands excessively?" is not a good question.
a person with OCD believes they are washing their hands the correct number of times. it's not excessive. we believe we're exhibiting best practices and helping to keep everything clean.
better questions might be, "does it seem like you wash your hands a lot more than your friends or family?" "do you get dry patches or cuts on your hands from washing your hands?" "do you find it deeply distressing, more so than how you've seen other people react, when you get something on your hands that you can't clean off right away?"
being asked "are you overly preoccupied with bugs, symmetry, and contamination?" also got "no" responses from me years ago in my life. what they didn't ask for, and didn't know, was what *exactly* I was doing in my day to day life that genuinely ate up my time and mental space to a concerning degree, but I *didn't know* that other people don't do this.
"do you spend a lot of time cleaning?" -> no, it's not a lot. it's a good amount. why?
"do you become frustrated because it seems like no one else meets your organizational and cleanliness standards - do you often 'take over' for other people because they can't do it right - do new friends seem surprised by how strict you can be about your living space?" -> oh. yeah. yeah I get it now.
"reblog if __, who wouldn't?"
"if you don't reblog this unfollow me"
"reblog for__ ignore for --"
"who wouldn't reblog this?"
"you have to reblog this"
"no __ will reblog this"
No. Shut up. These statements are not safe for those with moral ocd. Reblogging something or not does not change opinions and actions. It does not define a person. It does not represent beliefs. You can share your beliefs without harming others.
"my narcissistic ex" "omg you're delusional" "she's so bipolar" "schizoposting!" "he's a psycho!" "that's so ocd" SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!! JUST SHUT UP
