The Joy of Life Challenge : Sims 3 version - update.
Hello hellooooo! I rewrote and reworked the JOL challenge written by simlune for the sims 3 some years ago, but the original document was deleted and disappeared off the internet, so I went back to an older version of the document and again reworked the challenge!
As of right now, there are twenty five generations to play through and I've edited some of the rules, I have backups too should the document disappear again lol.

Many of you have asked about the custom objects I use in my builds. Since I create and convert exclusive decor specifically for each project, I've decided to start releasing these collections separately after every build launch. This way, you can bring the same atmosphere into your own homes and creations.

Back at it again with another legacy! This one is an original legacy but intended as a companion challenge of sorts to my ‘Very Veggie’ I converted a while back!
As with the Veggie legacy, this is something of a colour-based challenge. Instead of basic colour themes, the colours are to be inspired by the fruits used in each generation. This can be interpreted any way you like - colourful hair and clothes, full berry sims, or even just a colourful house or rooms!
You are encouraged to start on an empty lot with zero funds, but you are welcome to start in a starter home and move up in the world as the challenge progresses!
This challenge, as with the Veggie legacy, is meant to encourage fun and goofy gameplay. If you choose not to follow the rules exactly, I am not going to bite your head off! The important thing is to have fun and play as you want to play!
General Rules:
Start with one YA sim founder sim
Dress your founder and heirs to match their assigned colour theme and fruit! You may also choose to decorate their house to match the theme
Use the assigned traits and aspiration for Generation 1 (Apple) when creating your Sim. If you get random traits for your heirs in the future, try to assign at least one of their remaining traits with that of the upcoming generation
To complete this challenge, you must make it through six generations of the same family and complete all (if not most) of the challenges for each generation
If you are missing a career or trait, feel free to substitute it with whatever you deem appropriate
The next generation officially “begins” once you complete the rules of the previous generation and/or the heir has become a young adult
GENERATION ONE: APPLE
‘How’s that old saying go - an apple a day keeps the doctor away? Does that still work if you are the doctor in this scenario?’
Colour theme: Red and/or green
Traits: Bookworm, Workaholic, Neat, Loner, No Sense of Humour
LTW: World Renowned Surgeon
Career: Medical
Additional Rules:
Live in a small two to three bedroom house
Join the Medical career
Your only friends are your co-workers and immediate neighbours. However, as you prioritise your job so much, ensure that the relationship never goes any higher than good friends
Marry someone when you reach level three of the medical career
Have two children (optional if you want to have twins)
When you are an adult, or your children are teens, divorce your partner. They may date again, but you will opt to remain single for the rest of your life.
Master the Logic skill.
‘As a child, you enjoyed a comfortable life growing up, having everything you wanted…save for the attention of one of your parents. Watching your parents divorce and your heir parent throw themselves more and more into work left you bitter and grumpy, where once you might have been sweet and kind. After you become a young adult, you move in with the one person who has ever understood you - your best friend. Together you live a simple life, where you chase the little joys and don’t worry about wasting your life on a boring, soul-crushing 9-5 job.’
Colour theme: Purple and/or green
Traits: Loner, Grumpy, Green Thumb, Easily Impressed, Snob
LTW: Bottomless Nectar Cellar
Career: None - make money through selling plants/nectar.
Additional Rules:
Have one best friend since childhood (must be a blueberry themed sim)
When you are both young adults, move into a small farmhouse or a house with a decent-sized garden
Have at least five friends
Have at least one pet
Master the nectar making, mixology, and gardening skills
After becoming an adult, you and your friend have a one-night stand and conceive a child together
Optional: Decide to double down on your feelings for your best friend and remain a committed couple
‘You come from a fairly unconventional family, whose approach to love and family has been trying at best. Not you though, you long for the loving spouse and large family of your own! How hard will that be to achieve when you also long to chase your culinary dreams?’
Colour theme: Blue
Traits: Family Oriented, Hopeless Romantic, Natural Cook, Neat, Friendly
LTW: Surrounded by Family or Celebrated Five-Star Chef (whichever LTW you don’t choose, your spouse must have the other)
Career: None or Culinary
Additional Rules:
Shortly after a young adult, fall head over heels in love with a wealthy sim around your own age (must be a lemon themed sim)
After becoming pregnant soon after meeting, get married and move in together
Have at least five children (one or more may be adopted if you wish)
Teach your children all their skills
Send at least one child to boarding school
Master the cooking, logic, and writing skills
‘You came from a very large, very hectic family. It might have been daunting for some, but you loved it, thriving in the chaotic nature of it all. Like the lemon you embody, you are bright and have a zest for life. Your main goal is to bring joy to the people around you, even if your methods aren’t always to their taste.’

Traits: Good Sense of Humour, Natural Born Performer, Schmoozer, Childish, Light Sleeper
LTW: Any of the Showtime LTWs
Career: Singer, Acrobat, or Magician
Additional Rules:
As a young adult, become a performer
Must perform for tips at least once at every seasonal festival
Marry a witch (must be dragonfruit themed)
Have as many children as you like, but your heir must be a witch like their non-heir parent
Whilst you love all your children, have a slightly strained relationship with your heir
‘Unlike your parents, you have always been a little bit more grounded and practical. You are a little mysterious to most, with a prickly exterior that hides a tender heart deep down. You embrace your magical talents and live life fully as a witch.’
Colour theme: Pink, white, and green
Traits: Night Owl, Supernatural Fan, Gatherer, Genius, Loner
Career: None - make money through selling items, or simply live off your parents' wealth
Additional Rules:
Must have a small room dedicated to your witchcraft where you can move potions
Turn a wardrobe into a magic portal
Master the alchemy skill
As an adult, if you have the points for it, unlock the ‘Magic Hands’ lifetime reward
Discover and use at least once every spell and curse
Marry a sim who is your complete opposite (must be coconut themed)
Have at least two children
‘You are a very go-with-the-flow sim. Unlike your heir parent, who was a very practical person, you have a more relaxed and lackadaisical style. That doesn’t mean you’re not a hard worker in your own way, though!’
Colour theme: Brown and white
Traits: Loves to Swim, Athletic, Loser, Lucky, Friendly
LTW: Deep Sea Diver or Seaside Saviour
Career: Lifeguard or a part-time job
Additional Rules:
Move out of the family home when you are a young adult and move to a house that is close to the beach
Optional: Move to a houseboat if applicable
Master the fishing and athletic skills
Optional: master the diving skill if you choose the deep sea diver LTW
Get married and have kids
Legacy ends when your youngest child becomes a young adult

*I take no credit for this, just thought I'd share*
I've been looking at loading fixes and came across this reddit post and I wanna confirm that it works! Anything that needs loading: catalog, sims, CAS, objects, lots. It all loads much quicker and smoother. Essentially, you're editing your "Default.ini" file in your bin folder, (PSA: pls back up any file you plan on tinkering).
I followed the numbers given by commenter Xiberion1. Edit the file in notepad change the values to the following and save:
I did not touch anything to do with RAM or memory because I have an integrated GPU. If you are on PC I'm sure you can handle more. This is a very quick and easy fix that is worth looking into, the only thing this fix requires is knowing what specs you have and how to utilize it. Do with this knowledge what you will :)
Am I using a blender cap as a preview? Yes, yes I am.
>This was a quick conversion for a friend and decimating it to make it as ts3 friendly as possible was quite a struggle so if anything isn't great, you've been warned :p
>Door is 11K POLY!! By all means I don't recommend using this if your pc or game can't run high poly meshes, preferably stick to using the door for pics only or in a single lot in an empty world.
>I also included an arch version aka I got rid of the doors to get a matching arch, that one is 2k poly.
>Both are fully recolorable: outside arch, inside arch + doors and handles have their own channels. There's two swatches for the doors as I included a version with the original gold handles and a version greyed out so you can make them any color.
