I think a possible bagginshield implied fic could be set during the beginning of the journey of the fellowship of the ring.

And gimli, being a dwarf, able to start being suspicious of some slight dwarf qualities Frodo has (Frodo being a mostly hobbit looking bagginshield baby) and whenever gimli asks the other hobbits about it they’re like “oh no that’s normal. Frodo’s always been taller than the average hobbit, with less hair on his feet, and an eye for gemstones, and has to shave…”

Then gimli starts to put together thorin’s involvment in Frodo’s existence, especially Gandalf mentioning the mithril shirt. that’s when gimli freaks the fuck out

A fan reached out to me and explained that they’re in Minnesota, part of a parent group that has been escorting children to and from school, protecting them from ICE, who have been parked outside of the local schools like fucking vultures.

I have a particular headcanon (tied to my own thoughts about Broadbeam dwarves) that Bombur’s head is shaved and his tonsure is religious in significance, relating to a particular subset of Dwarven beliefs specific to his clan. I also think he was balding/thin at the top anyway (despite his thick and massive moustache braid) but the neat shaving to line up his hair with bangs is intentional.

To elaborate the belief system is based in a more concentrated worship of Mahal and hinges on the idea of him recieving Eru’s permission to give life to his creations rather than help—as in, he was able to do it himself as long as he was allowed to. The shaved head is a representation of where he kissed his first creations to give them life.

Reincarnation au where the dwarves remember their past lives (like in canon) and hobbits don’t except Bilbo gets reincarnation as a dirty tank top and ripped jean wearing, cigarette smoking country boy that shoots anyone who dare step foot on his property with a hunting rifle. So when Thorin goes to find the love of all his lives, he’s met with a gun to his head instead of the sassy quips he was expecting.
