So I’m moving into a dorm this fall and we can’t have any candles or incense, both of which I’m big on. We can however use wax warmers so long as they’re powered by a light bulb and not, you know, another flame. I’ve been thinking of how to incorporate this into my practice and I have a few ideas so far:
-Carving sigils or symbols onto an unused wax block, when it’s fully melted the sigil/symbol has been charged. You could do this until the scent wears off, like inscribing new sigils/symbols each time you want to use it
-Obviously different scents/colours of wax blocks have the same correspondences as candles, but why not combine them? My mom sometimes cuts a block in half and combines scents. You could do this if you were wanting to use different candle colours in a spell. Just make sure the resulting smell won’t be icky
-Find a style of wax warmer that can double as something that has meaning on your altar. I have an owl one, I associate owls with wisdom and tranquility so it’s great to have that at school with me.
-You could write your spell on a piece of paper, and use the melted wax to “seal” the spell like they did in the good ol’ days
-Empower it to cleanse/charge your crystals, then place your crystals around it so they cleanse/charge to whatever your intention may be
Anyone have any other ideas? I’m so drawn to the city and urban witchcraft can be tricky. I’ve been in the country for almost a year and although I’m ~close to nature~ and that’s awesome, there’s a certain energy to a large city that I love to try and harness.
What do y’all do with your wax warmers?
PSA: I think you can get wax cubes at Walmart and other discount stores, it’s not just Scentsy that sells them (God knows they’re expensive!), so if you’re on a tight budget this can still work for you!
