(I want to answer this with a straight face but I can't because the first thing that popped up in my head was "I Want to Be Like Other Girls" from Mulan 2, omf.)
What are the biggest pros and cons to being a prince? If you were given the option to, would you opt out of it?
( /tilts his head from left to right, mentally weighing the pros and cons ) There are certainly a lot more cons than pros, I'll give you that.
The biggest advantage of being royal is the limitless convenience that comes with the title: bountiful food, lavish living spaces, luxury, servants at your beck and call--but materialistic things lose its value after a while and nothing's forever. That's really about the only pro I can think of.
Then there are the cons: living as a national scapegoat and target, royal obligations, no privacy, a sealed fate, limited social interactions out of the palace, the uptight security, not having the freedom to do whatever I want--to name a few. Despite all that, I don't think I would surrender it, and not for the high life, either. Junsu hyung's already done so much for me and it's up to me to carry on the bloodline, isn't it?

Oh, well-- thank you for giving me an option, I'll just have to choose the lesser of two evils. ( /slips a hand into his hair and tugs at the roots, fully concerned about the challenge that lied ahead of him ) Um-- I'll just have you know that I'm losing my lip's virginity to my brother, thanks to you.

( /purses his lips and contemplates his options ) Well-- if we're talking about a few days' time, I wouldn't mind spending that with Hakyeon hyung. He's still a little awkward around me, always calling me your Highness and whatnot-- Plus, he's always around Junsu hyung like his little messenger bird (oh, the irony?), and so I was thinking! If he's Junsu hyung's secretary, shouldn't he be mine, too? ( /bloats his cheeks with air ) I'm not sure, now that I give it a second thought... he does nag a lot.
Truth: Have you got a secret talent?
A secret talent? I do have plenty of those; not many people know I have a wide variety of skills, all self-taught and one not so self-taught! If father was alive, he'd have my head for learning what princes shouldn't be learning, like skinning rawhide, tying Boy Scout knots, making kites, and even whistling like a bird! I picked up those skills along the way, but I also know how to paint, draw, and write in calligraphy-- ( /counts everything he knows how to do on his fingers as if he had been waiting for an opportunity to organize his set of skills ) I also happen to know how to levitate objects without touching them, but that's--a secret between you and me, promise?
Truth: What has been the most embarrassing moment you've experienced so far?
Most embarrassing moment? ( /rubs his cheek a few times as if that would help him uncover a memory buried deep down ) Oh—it was when I was young, actually—maybe four or five years old at most. My family was attending this grand royal procession with hundreds of honored guests listening to my father's speech. My mother, brother, and Junsu hyung were all there, too, it was an important event— ( /he pauses and rubs the back of his neck ) I remember tugging at a guard’s pants and telling him I really needed to go potty, but I was stuck on that balcony for hours. Eventually, my legs started twisting together and I was moaning like I had the plague! ( /shakes his head and clears his throat ) I embarrassed my father and ruined a very… good pair of pants that evening.

I sent the army out and the academy will stay guarded. I guess we're going out on an adventure after all...
( /he had just been prepared to run out when his brother barged in, shoving a tablet in his hands which he scanned just quickly enough to absorb the information ) Every mutant? What-- ( /looks up at the other in disbelief ) They can't be serious; how can they eradicate all the mutants like that? They can't-- ( /drops the tablet to his side and purses his lips ) You're not leaving me out on this one, you said we yourself, hyung.

If plan A didn't work, Myungsoo had plan B, plan C, and the whole alphabet up his sleeve because he was determined not to be left behind this time. If Junsu thought tying him to a chair would stop him or even quell his stubborn nature, he was underestimating the same kid who used to hide amongst baggage and cling onto legs to follow his brother and cousin.
It seemed like that stubbornness had grown tenfold as the years passed, however, and he had already set his mind to following Junsu to the ends of the earth, if need be. He knew Junsu was also stubborn for someone who didn't think he was all that disagreeable, or maybe he was prideful and just a bit too overprotective about his matured, twenty-one year old brother. Even though Moonsoo had been a lot more levelheaded than his younger brother, he always used to say the same things Junsu said now, about how he wasn't old enough to tag along or how it was his duty to protect his younger sibling. Myungsoo probably wouldn't have been so stubborn about that if Moonsoo hadn't died right before his eyes.
It was a good thing Myungsoo hadn't mentioned that because he knew how much tension that sensitive subject could pour onto the both of them if he had, on impulse. Speaking of Moonsoo's death seemed so taboo to him and Junsu for obvious reasons, but mostly because mentioning his death was almost like opening old scars and rubbing salt in them.
He really tried to behave and not be so bitter up until the guard entered and spoke briefly with Junsu, as if he--the prince of Eulsa--wasn't supposed to hear this oh-so-important news. Myungsoo pretended he wasn't bothered to the core of his bones but that irritation showed obviously in the way he crossed his arms and chewed on his lower lip. He almost wanted to punch the guard for interrupting their conversation, and just the idea of Myungsoo punching anyone was clearly a sign that he was upset--or had been upset because Junsu finally agreed to take him along.
"Oof--" he huffed when the bag was thrown into his arms, wondering why there always had to be a catch when it came to these things; this couldn't be the first time he had been appointed as a pack mule in order to come along. "Why do I have to carry your stuff?" he frowned, but withheld any further complaints as he slung the bag over his shoulder and scurried out excitedly ahead of Junsu.
'Finally, an adventure!' he thought with glee, figuring if it was a trip Junsu had been planning on going alone, it was something dangerous, risky, and completely wild. He slowed his pace to match his strides with Junsu's, already asking the first few of his many questions to come, "Where are we going, exactly? Are we going to be like nurses on the field, sort of? Can we stop for dim sum on the way?"

Myungsoo hadn't thought having the secretary tag along would be his worst idea yet; he barely had time to truly enjoy his adventure before his brother's henchman (as he so affectionately called Hakyeon behind his back) would nag, nag, and nag. Sometimes, Myungsoo obliged because he knew the secretary was looking out for his health when he'd ask the prince to dress warmly, but occasionally he exhibited behavior that wasn't ideal for a traveling partner.
He finally had a chance to escape the stuffy hotel, though, and Myungsoo wasted no time grabbing his camera and setting out, not really having a destination in mind. He actually hoped he'd get lost along the way so he would have some sort of excuse to stay out longer than he had promised, but if worse came to worst, he knew he would have to keep his end of the deal so Hakyeon wouldn't tattle on his boss.
Yet, no matter how often he convinced himself that he had walked far from the hotel and Hakyeon was the least of his concerns--at the moment, at least--he couldn't shake off the vibe that he was being followed.
It was silly because he knew he wasn't; whenever he'd turn around there would be nothing there but snow, snow, and his footprints in the... snow. But his highly-advanced brain waves often picked up the slightest disturbances in the area, unbeknownst to the young prince. Nevertheless, Myungsoo tugged the scarf closer around himself and trudged on, finding a bus station that would take him to yet another unnamed destination.
While waiting for the bus to arrive, he snapped a picture of this and that: the empty bench, the line of snow-capped trees on the side of the road, and some birds either flying or perched on top of wires and buildings. He took a couple snapshots of finches and another of a crow, finding it odd how it seemed to be the only one in that vast area, with no other birds of its kind in sight. It was truly a rare find, though, and he was hoping it would land somewhere nearby, maybe drop a feather or two so he could add it to the pages of his journal as a souvenir.

{`while he had briefly compared his own social climate with that of a “royal being” he quickly took it back. if the créme de la créme of the upper class was extreme in their actions and beliefs, that was obviously nothing in comparison to what was going on right now. the way the advisors cut him off actually irked him despite it being none of his business. of all the things someone could do, deeming that he wasn’t worthy of something was a big no-go. it almost made him tempted to rip the prince’s robe open there and then, but even jonghyun knew that such an act would be the most immature thing he could ever do. instead he remained silent and calm, waiting for the situation to unravel. behind the safety of his shades he kept his gaze fixated on the wounded man on the bed, monitoring his every more as he proceeded to remove the robe and lie down } Yeah. {`he confirmed his name with ease, soon grabbing at the edge of the chair he pulled it forward to bring him close enough to the bed and his patient, a smile smirk tugging at the corner of his lips } Pleasure to meet you, Myungsoo. {`looking down at the exposed back he reached out to run his fingers along the wounded area with a feather-light touch } There’s still some redness and swelling left, so once I’m done I’m going to mix you some herbal ice to reduce it. {`leaning back to grab a bottle of ointment and thoroughly apply it to his hands he silently decided how “rude” he could allow himself to be, seeing as this was still a client of his. small talk wasn’t exactly his forte judging by the fact that he had a knack of offending people on a regular basis. but at the same time he was curious, especially since myungsoo hadn’t looked all too appreciative of what had seemed to be an occurring procedure } If I wasn’t aware of the situation I would’ve assumed they were talking about some sort of heirloom. {`he had a question resting at the tip of his tongue as well, but for some reason he halted there and left it unasked. instead he reached out to simply get a feel of the area he was about to massage, searching for any tearing in the tissue and further establish how to massage it }
Herbal ice? Oh, yeah--okay. ( /he wasn't exactly sure what to expect from the massage but he figured the expert knew what to do and he only had to relax, and hopefully keep his screams of pain down to a minimum. he would have drifted off to sleep, honestly, if the other male hadn't spoken up about heirlooms or something of that subject--he hadn't really been listening ) Heirloom? ( /it was only after piecing fragments of words together that he finally understood what jonghyun had meant, and if the advisors had heard of his snarky remark, they would have fired him in a heartbeat, but myungsoo found that comparison a little funny, and sadly true ) I do get objectified, like some family vase kept for display--it was worse when I was small. ( /he smiled instead of chuckling to avoid moving his body, trying to remain as completely silent as possible with jonghyun's fingers roaming all over the expanse of his back. it was odd, because it was normally forbidden for anybody of common status to even touch a royal body like his, so he wasn't really familiar with the concept of physical contact, let alone having someone who wasn't paid to dress him in lavish garments now prodding at his "celestial" body like a slab of meat ) I actually fell from a balcony. ( /he felt like he needed to admit that, just to get it off his chest and to provide jonghyun a fact he could work with just in case he had any experience with clients who had fallen off balconies before ) I know nothing's broken but the muscles in my upper back hurt the most, and I'm sure the bruises are things to blame, too.

"Well--" Myungsoo frowned, admittedly a bit torn between admitting the truth to a bat and not, to at least salvage the tiny ounce of pride he had left as a prince, "You can say I'm like Rapunzel, although I am the dashing prince too, I'm my own rescue team."
It was a little sad now that he thought about it, knowing there really wasn't anyone out there to free him from all of his royal obligations but death. He was born a prince and would die a prince; the pitiful part was that he had no choice in any of that. Regardless, the young royal kept his voice low and admired the tiny critter squirming on the palm of his hand, tempted to poke its furry belly to see if it would stick its tongue out or squeak.
He was truly surprised when the creature admitted he was a mutant, which meant he was a shapeshifter of some sort. Myungsoo could and should have suspected the bat to be a spy or even an assassin, but he was too excited by the thought of having another friend like himself that he forgot all about being terrified. Fear wasn't in his vocabulary, anyway. "Really?" he answered skeptically at first, eying the bat's impressive wingspan, "If you are a mutant, I hope you do know it's a royal crime to be snooping around the palace undercover."
Myungsoo stretched out his legs and placed the bat on one of the cushions, resting his hand for a bit. "No one's ever ventured this far, actually," he playfully tipped the bat over by poking its belly, amused and now slightly in disbelief that the petite thing had a human form taller than he was, "Maybe if you show me your human form, I won't press charges."
Not that he actually would.
Leaning back a bit with his arms supporting him, he tilted his head when the bat spoke, clearly amused by how distracted it was, jumping from one subject to the next. "I'm twenty-one," he smiled, "I'm not sure how old that is in bat years."

Of course Junsu would say 'you're not coming with me'; Myungsoo hadn't expected anything more, nothing less. It almost felt like he was still trapped in a twelve-year-old's body and this whole scenario was like a badly planned deja vu, of Myungsoo whining if he could tag along and Junsu denying him.
But he wasn't twelve. He was well in his twenties and if he wasn't mistaken, being babied and protected at twenty wasn't exactly the way his father had expected him to be raised, nor did he want to be treated like a child for any longer.
"Why?" he asked abruptly, interrupting his brother before Junsu could even explain why he couldn't come along, "You said you were proud of me, why can't you let me show you that I can protect you, too?" He felt like he could say or even argue more to prove to Junsu that he wouldn't be a nuisance during the trip, but the words escaped him. He held back his tongue when Junsu spoke again, rambling on and on about his royal obligations as if he didn't have them as well, that he wouldn't understand. What did he or anyone else know better that he couldn't understand, even now? "You always said that. You always said I wouldn't understand without even telling me, my family always hid things from me, said they wouldn't leave--" a lump formed in his throat at the thought of his brother, father, mother--all gone.
He couldn't believe in words anymore, not when all of those empty promises had fallen through and Myungsoo felt like he would lose Junsu too, if he let him go.
"Why can't I worry about you the same way you worry about me? How am I too young to understand any of this when I know what it's like to lose my family?" he was raising his voice now, but he managed to keep it just under the level he couldn't be at so random objects around them wouldn't be reacting to his emotions on overdrive. His focus was on the verge of snapping, every nerve in his brain ready to shut all the doors and windows and seal them tight, if need be.
Myungsoo took one step forward and bit his lower lip tightly, like he always used to do whenever he was being stubborn and disagreeable. "I'm going with you," he concluded, "You can't make me stay here, you know I'll follow you."
If that didn't work, he was just about ready to kick and scream.

Stressed was probably an understatement at this point.
Myungsoo was so accustomed to Hakyeon flitting around and handling everything, if not his brother, so when everyone in he palace came flocking to him in his brother's absence, well--it was stressful. He knew his advisors had a right to be panicked what with the city in chaos but Myungsoo wasn't exactly cut out to act gracefully under pressure and he needed guidance. He needed to breathe. He needed Junsu.
He hadn't seen his brother in days and that was worrying him. His brother had just vanished from his life, leaving nothing but a text message to keep his concerns ever-growing and Myungsoo was getting ever-impatient. He had gone two days without any sleep and the fatigue had made him very sensitive and prone to lash out, and it didn't help that everybody in the palace knew how to get a hold of Junsu but him. It seemed like they were holding him somewhere or his brother was purposely avoiding him; whatever the reason, Myungsoo had to see him.
So he extracted information from one of his closest nannies and headed straight for the royal academy at exactly the time he was supposed to depart. Any sooner or later and he would have missed him, then returned empty-handed and frustrated more than ever to the palace.
He hadn't meant to push the doors so roughly but he did, and winced when the wood crashed into the wall with a loud smash, making his entrance a lot more dramatic than he had initially planned. "Where are you going?" he asked even if he knew, his gaze quite stubbornly fixated on his brother.
"Why didn't you tell me you were leaving the city?" a bell rang in his head because he belatedly realized that's what he did on a daily basis, but at least he wasn't leaving the palace in the midst of an apocalypse. Myungsoo swallowed, wondering how it was possible for him to feel so small in front of Junsu still, how he still felt like a twelve year old who wanted to tag along whenever his cousin and older brother left him to play something that was too "dangerous" for him. He had ways to join the ride, though, but he wasn't sure how effective clinging to Junsu's leg would be now, when he had grown up.
"I'm going with you," he said to leave little room for an argument, quickly zipping up his jacket.
( ' hak knocks twice at the door to myungsoo's office before speaking ) sir, i have the paperwork you want for tonight. would you like it now or later?
( /it's funny how he's always had an office passed down from his brother that he's never really used until now, and he hasn't been out of it for hours either, tossing and turning ideas in his head. he only answers the door for hakyeon because he's convinced his advisors are conspiring against him and well--he was just under a tremendous amount of stress ) Oh, thank you. ( /he's aged at least ten years, from the way he reacts to the way he looks ) This is going much slower than I predicted; at this rate, I'll have to go myself.
