Emi: Well, there might be one thing you could do.

Lilah: Hey...how's she doing?
Emi: She's doing very well! She doesn't like the breathing treatments very much, but she is so patient.

Shaking her head, Waverly only pulled her wife closer. “She’ll be okay.” Her stress and anxiety was a little better now that she had Emilie there with her to keep her somewhat calm, but there was lingering stress and memories. Waiting and waiting for some sign that they were going to be okay. Alive and okay. “It’s not your fault.”
Emilie kissed Waverly’s cheek before lying her head on her wife’s shoulder. It was less than an hour, but it felt like forever before a doctor came out to them, and something about his face told her that things were okay. “Looks like your little one has asthma,” he said with a soft sigh. “But she’s responding perfectly to breathing treatments and you can both come back and see her now. We have a few more questions.”

Seeing Emilie’s tears almost brought on her own, but with the stress she was already feeling from being in the hospital, she instead settled for a more frustrated frown. She wrapped her arms around her wife, pulling her into a hug as she kissed her temple softly. “She’ll be okay. They’ll fix it.” She whispered softly. “C’mon. Let’s sit down.”
Emilie’s breath hiccuped as her wife pulled her close. “Wh-why can’t I stay with her? She is all by herself,” she whimpered. After Waverly managed to calm her a little, she sat down and took the brunette’s hand, kissing her fingers. “I’m so sorry you had to do this alone,” the blonde said sincerely as she shook her head, hardly able to imagine how Waverly must have been feeling the last time she found herself in that room.

Waverly really had no reason to be so rude but she couldn’t really help it. Emilie’s sudden snap made Waverly jump a little before she put her hands on her shoulders. “Honey they have to take her to figure out whats wrong with her. Its okay.” She tried to be soothing but she knew her attempt at it wasn’t as effective as she hoped. “They’ll figure out what’s wrong with her.”
Waverly’s soft tone and touch brought tears to Emilie’s eyes and she reluctantly let the doctors take her bundle. There was nothing in the entire world that she loved more. “Je t'aime m-mon coeur,” she whimpered, her hand clasping over her mouth as tears streamed down her cheeks.Â

Waverly swallowed blinking away, deciding that her hatred for hospitals was only going to get worse from there. She was so wrapped in her thoughts that she nearly missed Emilie speaking perfect french to the receptionist. Shuffling closer, she put her hand on Emilie before explaining to the very confused woman. “Our daughter can’t breathe. Shes obviously struggling, since you can see with your own two eyes. I would appreciate it if you could do something immediately.” Her tone was much more angry and impatient than her wife’s tone.
Emilie was just about to respond to the woman’s puzzled look when Waverly thankfully stepped in. She pressed several kisses against Adelaide’s cheek in the meantime. But without warning, she felt someone trying to take their daughter from her arms and she immediately jumped back, her eyes wide. “She is staying with me!!” she snapped, unable to recall if she’d ever actually lashed out with that sort of tone before.

There was a lot to process but she had no time, locking the door as quickly as she could before rushing down to the car. Everything seemed to be happening so quickly. Was the drive to emergency real? Did it even happen? It was only when she was standing in the waiting room of emergency that the bad memories started to flood her mind. Oh great. And she could already feel the figurative dark cloud form above her head. “Of all the hospitals.” She muttered.Â
The car ride was torture, sitting there and holding their daughter as she had numerous coughing fits, struggling to catch her breath more and more after each time. Emilie had never been so frightened in her entire life. She tried to keep Adelaide upright to keep her lungs as inflated as possible, hardly keeping her own composure as she watched the little one struggle to even cry. Once they were finally there, she saw the white on her Wife’s face, hardly even thinking of just where they were, when a little over a year ago, this was where Waverly spent hours, wondering whether or not her wife and daughter would live. Rushing to the desk, Emilie immediately opened her mouth, not at all paying attention to the words that spilled out when she hurriedly explained what was happening in perfect french, too frazzled to notice her mistake.

miss-waverly-m:
Waverly had been working nonstop and saving up her vacation days, making her more exhausted and sleeping when she could. Which left her dead to the sounds that their daughter was making. Even more so to the motion of her wife leaping out of bed. Instead, it only made her shift in her spot to get more comfortable. Until she heard the voice. “What?!” She responded, going through the motion of throwing off the blankets and running into Adelaide’s room. And sure enough, the sounds of wheezing made her even more painfully alert. “We need to go to the hospital. Now.” She muttered, already turning to get jackets and car keys before she even had time to process the words that came out of her mouth.
Adelaide was only in her pajamas, and Emilie knew they had no time to change her, despite the fact that it was freezing outside. So she simply wrapped the little girl up in blankets to keep her warm during the car ride. Samson had been woken by the commotion, and he sat patiently, waiting for some sort of direction should they need his help. She could only imagine this being a fraction of what Waverly felt that day Emilie collapsed in the kitchen. The terror was so pure and it was nearly enough to knock her unconscious all over again. But the sounds their daughter was making kept her alert. Emilie didn’t even take the time to grab her own coat, too hysterical to think of her own priorities. She only quickly stepped into her slippers and headed out the door.

It’s true what they say, that a mother could be woken up by the softest sound coming from her child, even just a simple breath that was a bit louder than the last. Some called it psychological, some called it biological. But Emilie knew it was more than just some head game when she was awoken by the sound of distant choking and coughing.Â
The blonde didn’t even have time to read the clock before she sprung out of bed, not even bothering to wake her wife as she sprinted to her daughter’s room. Adelaide was standing up in her crib, her face red and her lips a different shade than they normally were. Emilie was quick to scoop her up, turning on the light and trying to see if there was anything blocking the girl’s throat, despite the fact that there was absolutely nothing within the little one’s reach that could’ve posed as a danger. “Waverly she can’t breathe!!” she practically screamed, her heart pounding in her chest as her daughter wheezed.

@xoemimarie: Mon coeur is 100% tuckered out from her big party. Happy first birthday to the absolute love of my life. I am more thankful for you every single day. Sweet dreams, ma petite chérie.
miss-waverly-m:
“I can’t believe she’s already going to be one. It’s already been a year.” Waverly smile a little more than she normally would outside of their home. “Hmm that was nice of her. What would you want to do? Brunch? Dinner and a movie?”
Emilie smirked with a shrug. “Why not all of that?”

Emi: Hi, love! We’re having a little get together for Adelaide’s birthday tomorrow. I’d love if you and Adam came with the babies!
“Only a few more hours and then I can go home.” She muttered, closing her eyes for a moment before opening them. “Thank god it’s friday.”
“You work too hard, love..” Emilie said with a sigh. “But it is going to be a lovely weekend! We can have all day saturday before sugar’s birthday sunday. Your mother already said she would babysit if we wanted to go out.”
