For the Foreseeable Future 2
Trying to beat my writers block so of course had to keep this one going! Idk if I like this one but that's okay!
Warnings: My shitty writing!
Paring: Jungkook x fem reader
I walked downstairs with one simple mission:
Kill Jungkook.
It would be quick. Relatively painless—for me, at least—and then I could move on with my day.
I hadn't quite worked out the details yet, but after waking up to thirty-seven text messages asking what everyone should bring to our housewarming party, I figured I'd improvise.
Marching down the hallway, I shoved open the gym door with all the confidence of a woman seeking revenge.
The murderous thoughts I'd marched downstairs with evaporated instantly, replaced by something far more dangerous.
Jungkook stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling mirror, a dumbbell in each hand, shirtless and completely oblivious to the effect he was having on my ability to form coherent thoughts.
His back flexed with every curl, muscles shifting beneath tan skin that looked like it belonged on the cover of a fitness magazine. I'd always known he worked out—I'd listened to enough complaints about leg day over the years—but living together had made one thing painfully obvious.
Somewhere between "best friend" and "accidental husband," Jungkook had become unfairly attractive.
"Hey, Bunny."
My eyes shot up from drooling over his back to his face.
He was already looking at me through my reflection, a smirk on his face the clearly meant that I got caught.
I cleared my throat and squared my shoulders, "Jeon Jungkook."
He paused mid-rep before a slow grin spread across his face.
"The full government name.." He carefully set the weights on the floor. "Is crazy, baby."
I blink at him before shaking my head, getting rid of the thoughts the word baby falling from his lips caused, "Is there something you would like to tell me?"
He pretended to think for a moment, his gaze slowly traveling over me, nodding, "I do."
I crossed my arms, tilting my head to the side as I wait for him.
Biting his lip, "You look incredible in my sweatshirt."
I take a glance down at the sweatshirt I had blindly pulled on sometime last night, it is always so cold in this house. Whenever I ask Jungkook about it, he says that the thermostat is broken and that he's getting it fixed. It was his and it covered my shorts so my legs were on display for him.
"Anything else you would like to tell me?"
He shakes his head, "Nothing comes to mind."
"Okay well, would you care to explain why I woke up to enough messages to populate a small country asking what everyone should bring tonight?"
His smile disappeared, a look of realization taking over, "...Ah."
I pointed a finger at him, "Don't 'ah' me."
He rubbed the back of his neck, "I may have forgotten to mention that Pen and the guys wanted to throw us a little congratulations-slash-housewarming party."
"Jungook" I stared at him, " You forgot to tell me that we are having a party at our house, and we have nothing for it."
"Well Pen and the guys are coming over to help set up, they're bringing the food and decorations."
I let out the longest, most dramatic sigh I could manage shaking my head at him as he starts "You are unbelievable"
He tilts his head, eyes trained on me, "You are really cute when you're angry."
Taking a step back, "Then I am about to be real cute in a second when I murder you!"
Jungkook chuckles as he keeps moving forward and I move backwards, a smirk plastered on his face. My back hits the wall, endng my escape.
He was close enough now that I could see the tiny scar just beneath his jaw and the way the corners of his eyes crinkled when he smiled. He glances at the wall behind me before looking back to me, "Where are you gonna go now?"
I shoved him square in the chest but he barely moved. Instead, he laughed and caught my wrist before I could push him again.
He leaned in just enough that I had to tilt my head back to keep looking at him, "Don't start something you can't finish."
The butterflies went absolutely crazy in my stomach, my lips parting and I couldn't help but let my gaze drop to his lips for a moment.
I rolled my eyes, hoping to make it look like he didn't have an effect on me as well as trying very hard to ignore how warm it felt where he was still holding my wrist, "Are you going to let me go so we can go get ready for the party you neglected to tell me about or are we going to stand here all day?"
"I mean I can stay right here all day."
I playfully shove him with my other hand, letting out a laugh, "Jungkook!"
He laughs before nodding, releasing my wrist before holding his hands up in defense, "Alright, alright! let's go get ready."
He throws an arm around my shoulder and walks us out of the gym, "Put me to work wife!"
By early evening, the house was louder than I thought physically possible.
Someone had turned the music up, our living room was packed, and one of the boys was currently arguing over the correct way to grill burgers.
I found Pen in the kitchen balancing on the tips of her toes as she unsuccessfully tried to reach one of the serving platters on the top shelf.
"You know," I said, leaning against the counter, "most people use a step stool."
Without even looking at me, she replied, "Most people don't have a husband who keeps shit on the top shelf."
She lets out a triumphant yell as she grabs the trays before turning around to place them on the island.
I laughed, grabbing a handful of napkins and setting them beside the stack of plates.
For a few minutes, we worked in comfortable silence, arranging food and straightening decorations while the guys argued over music somewhere in the living room.
Pen was the first to break the silence, "So... how's married life?"
"It's barely ben a month Pen."
"And?"
I laugh, "It's actually been really good. We're the still the same best friends but different as well, Like a good different."
Pen stops what she was doing to look at me, eyebrow raised, "Different how?"
"It's nothing crazy but different in a marriage sense I guess. I make his coffee in the mornings, make his lunch for him, he irons my work clothes and that's something I didn't even know he knew how to do, he starts my car in the mornings.. Its just different"
I could tell Pen was trying to fight a huge smile on her face, she wasn't doing a great job but I appreciate the effort.
Before she could respond, Jungkook walks into the kitchen with a smile on his face, holding out his hand, "They're playing our song."
"Kookie, you don't dance at house warming parties."
He grabs my hand anyway, They do now."
I could hear Pen laughing as Jungkook drags me out of the kitchen and towards the living room, where absolutely no one else was dancing. He turns to look at the corner of the room, "Yoongi, turn it up!"
He looks back over at me and I shake my head, "You're the worst."
Shimmying his shoulders, "You say that but your swaying hips are saying something different."
Like a switch had been flipped, Jungkook was suddenly performing instead of dancing.
He pointed at me to sing the next line.
I pointed back, "Oh, no."
"Oh, yes."
Laughing, I finally gave in, dramatically lip-syncing my line with an exaggerated hand over my heart.
The room exploded.
Jungkook spun me once before launching into an unnecessarily dramatic performance, complete with finger guns and a spin that almost sent him crashing into the coffee table.
Without missing a beat, he dropped to one knee in the middle of the living room, pretending his invisible microphone had suddenly transformed into an electric guitar.
I grabbed the nearest wooden spoon off the snack table and held it like a microphone.
The second the next verse started, I belted every single word without making a sound, pointing dramatically at random people around the room like I was performing in a sold-out stadium instead of Jungkook's living room.
Jungkook finally jumped back to his feet just in time for the final chorus.
He threw an arm over my shoulders, and together we dramatically lip-synced every word, bouncing around the living room while everyone else clapped, laughed, and sang right along with us.
By the final note, we were both completely out of breath.
I bent over, laughing so hard my stomach hurt.
My phone buzzed in my back pocket.
Another buzz.
Then another.
The laughter slowly faded from my face.
"I'll... I'll be right back."
Jungkook's smile softened, "Everything okay?"
I forced a smile of my own, "Yeah."
It came far too easily.
Far too practiced.
He didn't look convinced.
But he let me walk away anyway.
I pull my phone from my pocket was I was out in the backyard with the door closed behind me. I frowned and unlocked the screen.
The flowers came back.
You should've told me you moved.
I'll find you again.
- E
My stomach dropped.
For one foolish, hopeful week, I'd convinced myself this would stop. That moving would somehow make whoever E was disappear.
"Hey."
I nearly dropped my phone.
Jungkook stood in the open patio door, concern replacing the easy smile he'd worn all afternoon.
His eyes flicked from my face...
...to the death grip I had on my phone...
...then back again.
He didn't ask if I was okay.
He already knew I wasn't.
Instead, he quietly said, "Talk to me."
I forced my fingers to relax around my phone before locking the screen.
"It's nothing."
He held my gaze for another long moment.
He knew I was lying.
I knew he knew.
But after another beat, he simply nodded.
I forced a small smile before nodding towards the house, "Shall we?"
