I've been drawing Nolan's version of Crane for about 10 years now, and it doesn't help much: depicting his emotions is a challenge. I love faces completely distorted and skewed, and here is a true (personally headcanonically-diagnosed, at least accentuated) schizoid with disjointed facial expressions. Dead and alive, frightening and mesmerizing, sharp and elegant.

Despite loving the "chem/psycho prof" version, I draw him more shaggy-haired than I should every time. Can't help it, my hands are always trying to make him look like a crow. Glad I could keep the psychopathic perfection of his persona. Not artificial enough - say, not the “porcelain-ness” of the American Psycho - but a haunting, chiseled austerity... At least that's what I strive for.

In short, there are a lot of variables, and as it turns out, it's important for me to consider them all. I protect myself from manic perfectionism, but still can't love a picture where I don't see a reflection of my soul in. I am an egoist who cannot share other drawings, even if they are beautiful and hard-fought.
