PHOEBE BRIDGERS By Daria Kobayashi Ritch for Cultured Magazine (2021)
“studio ghibli romances be like “what if we didn’t kiss, but instead both spiritually matured as people because we met each other.”
(it’s what miyazaki wanted)
And Miyazaki’s stories are amazing. This is part of why.
march 2020: there is a literal global pandemic the world has come to a grinding halt and u will be staying at home for a considerable amount of time. have fun baking banana bread and realising you're a raging homosexual and / or reinventing your whole lifestyle
march 2021: container ship draws a penis in the sea, crashes, and then blocks the suez canal with its fat ass, bringing a considerable amount of world trade to a standstill
“the world has become such a soft safe space where you can’t speak freely” is a good way to reveal you spend a majority of your time on the internet. a customer came in today and told me that the illuminati framed bill cosby and it was my fault and i just had to be like OK sir cash or credit
The final two! It’s been such a joy working on these covers for my favorite books but all good things must come to an end 🥺
All the pieces are already available for order, in a variety of sizes and styles here
Thank you so much to everyone who’s been following this little adventure from the very beginning!
Happy Sunday and farewell February! 🌋⚔️🍃🐉
do you ever see a “hot take” and you’re like ohhhhhhhhhhhhh critical thinking is a learned skill and op has not put in the practice
For those who wanna give Ted Cruz excuses and saying he couldnt do anything about the power or weather.
Let's not forget Ted Cruz tried to constantly argue and start shit with AOC on social media.
Then tried to cosign working with her. And AOC had to tell him to stay away since he contributed to the insurrection.
So apparently, over the summer, Quibi (the shortest-lasting streaming service ever lmao) did a quarantine project called “Home Movie: The Princess Bride” where a bunch of celebrities recreated The Princess Bride in tiny chunks at home.
And like there was no permanent cast, all these celebrities seem to have gotten a scene or part of a scene to do (i’m not sure exactly, I did not ever watch Quibi and thus haven’t seen this yet), and then they just… recreated it as best they could. At home. Under quarantine.
So like, you had Jennifer Garner in a blanket cape playing Princess Buttercup AND the Booing Old Woman with a crowd comprised entirely of stuffed animals:
Or Taika Waititi paying Westley off a badly-drawn Inigo on a piece of cardboard held in front of someone’s face:
And it’s all just delightful.
But my absolute favorite part of this thing that I’ve sadly never seen but assume is probably absolutely hilarious and a treasure and I want to find it some day and watch the whole thing… is that Carey Elwes is in it.
As Prince Fucking Humperdink.

I’m watching with IMDB open so I can figure out Where I Know That Actor From (the answer is “The Office” with surprising frequency so far)
tiffany haddish, retta, pedro pascal, diego luna and JACK BLACK!!!
Me: Can I get you anything else?
Customer: Yeah, a smile would be nice
Me:
Rude, misogynistic, creepy: Asking for a smile
Respectful, empathetic, kind: Giving them a reason to.
