Zero bit her tongue and came out of hiding ashamed she got caught so early and the fact she forgot something so simple as to cover her way out. Sure it wasn’t her first failed attempt, but it was the first that made her look like an amature. He said murder mission? Was this guy’s brother widely hated or something? Well she was caught she had two choices result to assault or tey and talk this out since she had only committed the breaking and entering part, what she was after wasn’t really after anything valuable maybe an invasion of privacy.

“Look i’m not here to hurt anyone, but if you dare get close to me i’ll knock your head off. I came simply to practice my abilities on doing the things i do and it seems i got a bit rusty over the last month” Zero then rested the bat over her shoulder and looked away. “I was just going to try and get some pictures off a computer or something honestly i didn’t think anyone was here at all and i thought you’d have better security, but looks like if i didn’t make my mistakes it would have been pretty easy. Like seriously are you guys stupid?”

Zero threw in a couple of her old insults while trying to keep the conversation calm though this guy seemed unnaturally calm for someone that was in potential danger…wasn’t the oddest thing she’s seen i mean she’s spent time and nights with Dito and Decadus…horrifying boring nights…and her sisters who oddly never feared Zero at all maybe because her name was Rose back then.

“Spare me the wisecrack and your backstory.” Ayato walks over to his brother’s desk where he dumps the cake almost too carelessly. Yes, it is weird to walk in on a girl trying to sneak into his brother’s room-- more specifically, Kanato’s room. But Ayato has seen freakier shit than this before. Being threatened by a stranger is nothing to the creative punishments his father devises for him and his brothers when they misbehave. 

“You came to the wrong place if you’re looking for someone to blackmail.” He gestures to his brother’s computer. “There’s nothing you’re going to see there aside from online purchases of dolls. Believe it or not, this family isn’t a very scandalous one.” Not entirely the truth but how else is he supposed to act? If he shows how unaffected he is, this girl will undoubtedly stop snooping around for things that she’s not supposed to find. She’s apparently not good at what she does but he can’t be too sure.

“Now how about you get your...” He gestures to the rope. “...things and I’ll show you to the door, yeah? This mansion will just be another disappointment to your already disappointing lifestyle.”

Looks like things were about to turn pretty nasty. 

No matter how much this guy tried to shake the stray off, it wouldn’t quit. The more he pulled, the more it sank its claws in. Both as stubborn as each other apparently, it seemed as though the only way that this would end was with torn flesh and fabric. 

Fortunately, this was enough motivation for Ichimatsu to step in. 

“What ocean? We’re in an alleyway.”

Mostly for the sake of the stray’s well being rather than Ayato’s, the fourth-born took a moment to shoo away yet another (rather mangy, angry looking) cat that had prowled it’s way onto the scene to join in the fun and escalate the situation, before stooping down to peer at the now extremely startled looking feline who had turned to sinking it’s teeth into the other’s leg as well. 

“Stay still.” While far from a surgical procedure, a pissed off cat could be just as stressful to handle. Ichimatsu may have known jack shit when it came to social cues, but at least his deep understanding of cats came in handy now and again. Even if the person he was helping was kind of an asshole who deserved it. 

“You made yourself a threat. It’s not going anywhere if you don’t calm down. It’s probably for the best if you sit on the ground.”

“Then I’ll find the fucking ocean and hurl it over there like a damn trash bag!”

Seriously?! Is that all this guy picked up from the situation right now? 

Ayato growls in sheer annoyance as he shakes his leg harder, but this earns him the thoroughly frightened cat sinking its teeth into his leg. “Ow! You piece of--” He puts an abrupt pause to his long intended string of curses when the stranger speaks up again with an instruction that’s in his usual passive tone. The redhead clamps his mouth shut, but the cat on his leg refuses to sheath its claws back nor loosen its bite. 

After processing the stranger’s instruction, however, Ayato’s scowl deepens. “You want me to sit on this piss-stained ground like a hobo? I’m ordering you right now to just get rid of this thing! Use your feline psychic powers or something.” 

As he says this with a raised voice, he hears the cat yowling threateningly between its bared teeth and Ayato flinches. He looks over between the stranger and the feline and after a lengthy internal debate, he groans in defeat before he carefully sits down on the ground with a grimace etching on his face.

His brother’s kitten quickly hops off away from his head and makes her way to the other male just to rub against him affectionately.

 Ayato clicks his tongue. “Fucking traitor.”

“You know, I’m going to take that as a compliment.  Follow me.”  She skirted around the front counter, carefully making sure her papers were in order before leaving.  Touko gestured for the boy to tag along behind her as she began taking him down a maze of hallways to the Valor Wing.  “I hope you’re memorizing the way out because I don’t plan on helping you back.”  Unless he cleaned up his act, that was.

Finally they reached the appropriate door, which Touko held open for her ‘customer’.  Inside were several dogs that where running through obstacle courses, trainers blowing whistles and shouting directions.  It seemed they were working on the ‘ignore it’ command to make sure the dogs would pay more attention to their owners than to other people around them.  Walking past the dogs, she entered a smaller break room where another girl was lounging around.

“Hey.  This guy, uh– what’s your name again?”  She’d never bothered to ask, she hadn’t even reached that part on the paper work as she was too busy arguing with him.  “Well, whatever.  He’s having issues with a cat.  Do you have time to show him how to deal with a clingy cat?”  The other girl gave Touko a look before yawning.  She appeared to mull the idea over for a moment before shaking her head.

“Nah, I’m about to be off in a couple minutes and don’t feel much like being charitable today.  Touko, you know how to solve the problem, I’ll give you the keys to the cat room if you want.”  Touko deflated.  Her goal was to get rid of the guy not spend more time with him.  As she was about to go into begging mode her coworker tossed a set of keys to her.  “Have fun!”

“What?!  There’s no way I’m doing that!”  But it was too late as her coworker was already out the door, grabbing her jacket as she flicked off the lights.  Touko grumbled to her self for a moment before gesturing for him to follow again.  “Well, I guess we’re stuck together.  This shouldn’t take long, I know what I’m doing.”

Ayato follows the girl throughout the walk, his gaze swinging over to the dogs who are apparently being trained-- quite impressively so too. He feels the kitten’s claws digging into his arm in fright and he gives her a pat on the head before focusing back to the girl who eventually leads him to another room. He watches the entire exchange unfold in front of him but he keeps himself still. Man, that other woman seems like a pain. If this is what ‘working’ is, then he’d rather not do it at all.

Dealing with co-workers sounds like a hassle and the scene transpiring before him right now is solid evidence of that. It’s amazing how the girl can deal with this day by day. 

As soon as he’s left alone again with the employee, Ayato exchanges looks with the kitten before glancing back at his unwanted companion. “That went well. Ya know, I still don’t know what exactly I’m supposed to be doing here. You’re gonna teach me stuff, yeah?” He asks as he treads on following her. “I mean, you’re gonna teach me how to deal with this monster for free but if all fails, can’t you just take her out of my hands? Like, keep her as your own or something?”

Of course he’s not at all pleased by how the kitten will possibly be treated here but if this girl works in an animal center, then she should certainly be a genuine animal lover. Perhaps she wouldn’t mind having a cat around her place-- unless she already has a bunch of her own which wouldn’t entirely be a surprise. Lonely people tend to have felines as their companions after all.

“You can even name her yourself.” He adds as an afterthought. “My brother probably already named her but that just went over my head.”

All her nervousness flying away instantly, Toyone left a both triumphant and gleeful chuckle escape her lips as the young man agrees to go to her place. She had worried about being a little too pushy, considering she had just met the guy and that he was quite rash. Maybe even aggressive, considering the situation he was in and the fact that it was ‘fairly normal for him’, quoting his words. However, he seems to be acting way nicer now, or is it just her impression? Maybe he was just getting bullied instead of being in a fight. He does looks rather small… not that there’s much people that reaches her height.

Now, she’s even more excited about the fact of having someone coming over. He’ll be the second person to go to her dorm! Was she getting a new friend? She sure hoped so. Even if he was rough, he didn’t seemed to be a bad person. She was sure a friendship could originate from this casual encounter.

A new chuckle appearing her lips, she cleaned his cheek a bit as well before putting the handkerchief back on her dress side pocket. He would also be the second person to get his clothes washed by her. It seemed to be a pattern going on here.

“Please don’t mind that! I’m used to do it, and I need to do my own laundry anyway, so I’ll be two stones with one bird… oh wait, was it the other way around?” she stops on her tracks, mumbling as she tries to bring clarity to that. At least until she remembers there’s something more important at hand.

“Then let’s go, we’ll have to take the bus. It usually pretty empty at this hour so you should be able to get a sit to rest” Reaching out for his hand and tugging just a bit on it since she doesn’t want to make it hurt, she starts to walk towards the bus stop “Ah, I think I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Toyone Anetai, it’s a pleasure to make acquaintance of you, mister…?”

Ayato restrains himself from flinching when the girl wipes his cheek as well, tension sealing his muscles to a halt. In spite of the solid apprehension rising from his shoulders, he can’t deny the easy warmth churning within him. This is all too weird and yet very pleasing at the same time. He is just so out of place under these circumstances but that doesn’t seem to bother the girl at all. She’s so unbelievably nice, Ayato wouldn’t be surprised if he actually died from the fight and had woken up to an angel.

But that can’t be the case because he can very well feel her warmth the second she takes his hand. He lets her tug him away anyway, not finding the strength to protest at the moment. Though it would almost seem impossible for him to ever pick an argument with her without feeling bad. She is quite the chatter too-- a trait he doesn’t necessarily like in girls-- but with her, he doesn’t mind.

Since when did he start tolerating the kind of people that peeves him? 

Just because she’s being unnecessarily nice to him doesn’t mean he should let his guard down that easily. His own mother has had her own affectionate and caring moments and look where that lead him. At the mention of an introduction, he promptly tugs his hand away from her grasp and slides it into the pocket of his torn jacket-- wincing a bit in pain as he does so. 

“Ayato.” He says somewhat stiffly. “You’re not some serial killer, are you? I’ve heard of some murderers who put up some kind of facade to gain people’s trust and so far, you’re doing a good job at it. But I’m not falling for it.”

En sighed. This whole thing was a pain in the ass. If only he had sat down somewhere else on the first day, somewhere far away from this guy. En decided to let the contract comment slide; it was too bothersome to argue about. What was interesting though, was that the other seemed to have trouble thinking up a punishment. He had suspected that the other was the sadistic type and would therefore have no problem coming up with some sort of twisted consequence. Buying takioyaki for this guy for reason was definitely a pain in the ass, but En figured it could have been worse. Taking his paper back, he turned around, for once relieved to see the teacher walk into the class.

The following day, En napped through the class. He managed to wake up at the end, just when the professor was handing back their marked homework. Taking his paper with reluctance, he flipped it over quickly to see his mark.

It was 100. A perfect mark. En smiled to himself. It seemed like he had guessed what the teacher wanted to hear right. Despite what everyone else said, it seemed like college was the same as high school; as long as he guessed the subject matter right, he would get excellent marks. That was great news for En, as studying was perhaps one of the greatest pains to do. However, his train of thought by a kick to the back of his chair. Groaning, he turned around to listen to the pain in the ass.

“My writing was crap?” Spoke En with a small chuckle. “Are you sure you know how to copy words onto a piece of paper?” Holding up his homework for the other to see, En smirked. The other may have gotten a bad mark, but definitely wasn’t his fault.

“You have got to be screwing with me here.”

This makes no sense. Ayato could have sworn this bastard gave him the right paper. Of course, the redhead had to change a few words here and there in an attempt to avoid any suspicions from their professor. But there is no way the changes he made have put a damper on his mark! There could only be two reasons as to how he got this score in the first place:

Either the professor just enjoys getting a rise out of him or blondie intentionally gave him the wrong paper. The latter appears to be more practical since he knows for a fact that everyone likes him, even if he can be a bit annoying at times. With a scowl curling his lips, Ayato gives his classmate’s chair another swift kick in sheer annoyance. The apparent smirk on his classmate’s face only pushes him further into his already scorching resentment. He can’t go back to the mansion with this mark. Reiji will undoubtedly be expecting it considering how their professor just loves to keep him up to date with his brothers’ marks.

“Oi! You are screwing with me!” He growls, his grip tightening and crumpling his paper. “You gave me the wrong paper yesterday!” He would have been perfectly fine if the other had earned himself a bad mark as well just so he could blame the professor for not being good enough, but now he’s all alone-- abandoned in a sinking ship.

Ayato consistently taps his thumb over the screen of his phone, getting a bit too bored with the Happy Jump game. He’s been waiting for nearly half an hour in the Sakamaki limousine and he could already feel his fingers twitching in annoyance. That damn guy should be here by now. He had specifically instructed his butler to wait for Soul just right outside Arcane to take him to the limousine and after glancing at the time for a couple of times now, Soul’s shift should have been over fifteen minutes ago.

Ayato knows that he should have stepped out and waited for his friend himself but that requires too much effort. His balding butler can stand and walk around for eight hours straight-- Ayato can barely do it for an hour. He lets out an impatient sigh as he locks his phone and slumps to his seat. While this may be a stupid idea, the resentment still roils within him from the argument he had with his father earlier.

“And you question why I chose your brother to take over the family business. Take a good look at yourself before questioning my decisions.” 

The old man’s voice rings in his mind but the vibration of his phone fortunately snatches his attention away. 

Fr: Mr. Clean Message: Your friend just finished his shift, young master. We are on our way. :)

Irrational {Ayato & Ritsu}

Ritsu looks down at the man as he comments on his own appearance. Hoodie and old jeans he pretty much looks like the type to eat anything as long as its edible. However, as arrogant as the redhead seems to be, mentioning that might only make things more complicated. Therefore, he keeps the thought for himself. Wine eyes returning to the face of the stranger he hums a little. A self-centered, arrogant brat. He hated that type. On top of that, he also seemed to be the type to solve everything with money.

Crossing his arms over his chest, he sighed.

“And I should care about you being hungry because…?” he didn’t even knew the guy. For him it was the same if he died of hunger in a dark alley.Now, as much as he did, in fact, needed all the money he could get –come on! He could just lower his work hours and have some more time for classes and stuff- he hated people that just tried to solve everything with a pack of green bills.

“In any case, if you just want food you just go ask someone else” he sighed, finally moving from the door and closer to the other guy, his intention to pass through him and to the back. If he turned off the lights and finished closing the guy would have to leave even if he didn’t wanted to. “I need to close now”

“I wouldn’t be asking you now if I actually have someone else, would I?” Ayato takes a step to block the waitresses’ path. Honestly, Bellevue has got to be the most difficult place he has ever been to. He never had any trouble having his favors done back at his hometown. He just shows them a wad of cash and they’re suddenly quick to his aid. If his bitch of a mother didn’t have to die so early in life, he wouldn’t even be here right now.

But he supposes that case is his fault.

“Considering the fact that you’re working a night shift as a waitress, I can assume you need money.” He says as he flicks the bow on the girl’s uniform with apparent derision. “And I’m only asking for a simple meal. I’m not telling you to go down on your knees or anything creepier than that. Do you have any idea how much people want to take a peek inside the Sakamaki mansion? We don’t just let anyone in there but I’m giving you the opportunity that requires paying you a good sum.”

As he says this, his stomach rears a loud growl-- completely destroying his supposedly tenacious facade. Flustered heat flushes his face but he clenches his jaw in an attempt to keep the superior grip he hopes he has of the situation. “J-Just make me something spicy and I’ll pay you once I find your cooking good enough.”

“I-I didn’t meant it like that! I just thought…” she stopped her attempts of explaining herself for he looked rather angry already. It seemed like she had been rude without noticing. Unable to look straight at the man, her red eyes rolled away from him, stopping in a bunch of white grass flowers. Her fingers grasping intently at her long black skirt, making long wrinkles all the way to the edge. She didn’t meant to say anything bad, she just wanted to help.

She looks at him once more, this time out of the corner of her eyes as she doesn’t have the confidence to stare directly at his face. His clothes are a mess and he looks badly hurt. Was it really wrong of her to try and suggest that?

His voice calls once more and she jolts a little, eyes moving back up at his face as she has been thought to look at people when they talk. However, they end up rolling back down in embarrassment. At least until she grasps what he’s saying, a smile appearing on her lips. So he isn’t angry at her after all!

“Of course! Leave it to me!” she smiles happily, taking a look at her bag. She doesn’t have all that much stuff on her at the moment “We should probably put some ice on that, and clean them too. I can bring some stuff from a store nearby if you’d like me to… but the clothes. M-maybe, if mister is not too rushed to go back… you could come to my dorm. I can wash your clothes and I have a first aid set there! I-if it’s too much trouble I’ll do what I can with the things at hand” she explains.

Opening the mineral water bottle on her purse, she pours a bit on the handkerchief before reaching forward with it, strong yet tender movements cleaning the trail of blood on the chin of the man.

Ayato watches her skeptically as the girl rummages through her bag. This is somewhat odd and rather new to him. The last person who has ever shown any concern over his well-being was his high school nurse and she was only doing her job. Not that Ayato expects anyone to fret over him though. He knows how imprudent he can be so getting himself involved in threatening situations is already expected of him. 

With surprising patience, he stays quiet and listens to the tall girl anxiously ramble on about what she could do for him. Does she really intend on going through all that trouble just to help him? She seems far too generous and people could easily take advantage of that. However, Ayato isn’t in the position to say that at the moment. Not when he does actually need her help. He could still feel his muscles aching and his cuts stinging more painfully than the usual injuries he gets from his brother.

This is so tedious.

“Uh...” He stalls, not entirely sure what to say and still too hung up on what’s happening. He’s the type of person who wouldn’t accept any kind of help from someone just for the sake of his pride. But the thing is, nobody has ever offered a helping  hand for him to turn down in the first place. Man, can this girl catch him any more off-guard?  “I guess I can--” His body instantly locks with tension the second the female stranger reaches out to wipe the dried blood off of his chin with her handkerchief. 

“Erm...” Ayato shifts his eyes to the side. “...I guess it wouldn’t hurt. I can wash my clothes myself though. I mean, I don’t wanna inconvenience you or... yeah, whatever.” A washing machine can’t be that hard to figure out.

Touko’s dropped her head and let it thunk on the counter.  She was losing hope, or rather, she was losing the will to continue this conversation.  He was skilled in managing to mention himself in every single sentence that popped out of his mouth – it was impressive, although annoying.  “I am not asking you out.  I’m offended you even think I’m interested.”  She paused, closing her eyes for a moment before speaking again.

“I’m offering you a free training opportunity.  It’s normally quite expensive – and yes you have already mentioned your money so I get that it’s not an issue – but I’m going to let you work with someone for free if it means you’re not going to dump your kitten on my front door step.  The only reason you have to come with me is so that I can explain the situation.”  She pinched the bridge of her nose before mumbling something under her breath.

“I’m having a hard time believing any sophisticated women would be into you in the first place.”  Perking up, she gave him a wide and very fake smile.  “So!  Are you going to let her rot in a cage along and cold during the hours we’re closed and feel an immense amount of guilt that will follow you for years, or are you going to come with me and let someone show you how to get the cat off your back?”

Wow. This girl sure knows how to roast someone. Ayato can’t even bring himself to be pissed at her words-- he’s impressed, if anything. He’d like to see her use that attitude on Reiji though. Now that would be a riot. Nevertheless, he doesn’t have anything better to do today aside from investing his time on this new video game his friends have been pushing him to try. It’s the least he could do for them since they’ve been writing his essays lately.

But who gives a damn about how much he owes his friends when there's a cute girl offering him a ‘free training opportunity’. Hah, she can call it whatever she wants, Ayato knows he exudes charm. Some could say he’s too self-involved which he undeniably is. Whoever he’ll be working with, she better be just as cute. His friends will just have to wait for his review of their lame video game. He stares down at the employee who now has a feigned smile stretching her lips that completely contradicts her nasty choice of words.

“Fine, fine.” He sighs in defeat as he scratches the back of his head. “Damn, how do you even do that-- looking like the Little Mermaid but talking like the sea witch. With an expertise like that, you can be dangerous.” He then scoops the kitten up into his arms as soon as he sees the little furball mewling at his direction. “All right, so what am I supposed to do?”

En sighed internally at the other’s reply. Did he realize that most professors - this one included - often gave lectures? The more the other talked, the more it seemed like he was here because someone else had told him to rather than of his own volition. Considering the type of person the other was, it was probably his father or mother. Probably the father, reasoned En.

Either way, this guy seemed the type to have others do his homework for him. He probably bullied some poor kids into doing it too, considering the way he was treating En. En paused. If the other usually did that, then why didn’t he have his homework done? The other probably wasn’t paying attention in class when the teacher had announced it. En sighed. He often fell asleep in class but still managed to get the homework done.

When the other male called himself ‘Yours Truly’, En rolled his eyes. Who did this guy think he was? And how would he punish him if his homework was wrong? He sighed. This is why pretentious kids shouldn’t have access to money.

“What contract? I haven’t signed anything, so I wasn’t obligated to produce high quality homework.” En had learned quite a bit about contracts from one of his underclassman. “Anyways, you should take responsibility for your own mark.”

“You signed the contract the second you handed me your possibly poor excuse of a homework.” Ayato eventually says as soon as he’s done jotting down on his notebook in his usual sloppy handwriting. “If I get a low mark on this, you’re...” My bitch is what he wanted to say but that sounds far too much like Laito and sounding like any of his brothers is the last thing he wants. “...gonna buy me takoyaki. No if’s or but’s, blondie. It’s been established.” And with that, he hands his classmate back his paper just in time for their professor to walk into the room.

Ayato should have known better than to rely on incompetent morons.

The following day, just right before their professor finally took her leave, the students’ homework have been handed back. Ayato knows that he shouldn’t be surprised-- especially when the paper was written by someone as inattentive and apathetic as blondie. But unfortunately, he still is and nothing good is going to come out of this... aside from his free takoyaki that the guy now owes him.

“Oi, you idiot.” Ayato gives his classmate a quick casual kick to his chair. “Your writing was crap. I got a low mark because of you. Did you even bother to study at all?”

Sakamaki? Ichimatsu had definitely never heard of that name before. Whether it was a matter of him being out of the loop or this guy being a little too confident in his own importance, it didn’t matter. He’d already begun to tune out the moment the redhead demanded that he listen carefully, dark black eyes wandering to the side as he followed his own train of thought instead – something that mostly consisted of how irritating this person was, in contrast to how intimidating he’d seemed before opening his mouth again. 

What once resembled a threatening stranger had become something akin to Choromatsu’s inflated sense of self-importance on his particularly pissier days. 

Rising Sakamaki. That’s how he’d remember this one. 

The sudden jab of a finger in his direction instantly draws his attention back, however. Blinking slowly, the fourth-born is moments away from questioning the redhead’s intentions before the kitten at the core of this whole fiasco decides to place itself atop the other’s head, drawing an undignified snort of amusement from Ichimatsu. The second another cat sinks it’s claws into the fabric of whatever fancy brand of clothing the other’s trousers belonged to, any sense of unease left by Ayato’s aggressive approach was immediately shattered. 

“Ah. It looks like they like you, after all.”

The corner of his lips twitched ever so slightly in amusement as he watched the other struggle, making no move to help at all. Cats were really just too good. They deserved all the praise they got.

“You bastard! I’m not fucking around! You get this thing--” From the top of his head, his brother’s kitten hisses at the other feline and Ayato finds himself involuntarily jumping in panic at that. Shit. He has seen how cats fight; how they keep their sharp claws unsheathed and their pointed teeth bared. He can’t risk getting in the middle of that. Rough brawls with other guys? Sure, he can deal with that. But getting muddled in a cat fight? He’d rather resurrect his bitch of a mother.

Tension hits his build as he tries to keep himself still, his gaze shifting back to the other male who is apparently relishing on the show. To be fair, he would have done the same thing if the tables were turned. There’s nothing more delightful than watching someone get screwed over. 

But the tables aren’t turned, and Ayato is the one who is in the hands of misfortune.

There is nothing delightful about that at all.

He could imagine the contentment he will earn once he manages to wipe that smug smile off the guy’s face. Nobody laughs at Ayato Sakamaki. Carefully, he reaches down to try and pull the cat away from his leg but the very second his fingers reach their fur, the cat digs their claws further. The familiar sting on his skin catches him with a jolt and Ayato clenches his jaw in annoyance.

He directs his piercing glare back at the stranger. “I’m giving you five seconds to get your cat off of me or I’m hurling it into the ocean.”

Irrational {Ayato & Ritsu}

He notices eyes going to his chest for an awful long time. Is it fun to watch a man’s chest or something? He doesn’t really understand but commenting on it might be a hassle so he just keeps the thought to himself.

Ok, he didn’t expected this guy to be as nice as to apologize for bothering and leaving, he didn’t seemed like the kind. To obnoxious and arrogant. And loud. But to get asked to cook something when everything was evidently closed was going too far.

“See, I don’t hope you understand, but Ri-chan is tired from cleaning everything… I was on my own. I’m not in the mood to care for a bratty master” Why did he had to deal with this anyway? And why was he still talking in character? Ah, never mind.

“And ok, Ri-chan admits it. It might be my fault for leaving the door open and making you believe you could just waltz in. I mean, who even does something like going into a store when there’s no one around? But anyway, can you blame me? Who’s gonna open the door if I close it? Ri-chan is all alone after all. And opening from the outside is really annoying…” he crossed his arms over his chest. Then, he continued before the other could have the chance to reply to any of his words.

“Now, Ri-chan is very sorry to hear Master is hungry, but I don’t want to have to clean all the kitchen stuff again, so why don’t master just leave for today. I bet there’s a bunch of 24 places around. Master can even go to smartbit convenience store in the West Block for a sure thing if he has time to burn… Or you could even be a good guy and just make your own dinner”

He might have been a bit too brash in his answer, not even allowing any space for the other to say anything… he had also stayed in character, probably because he had it on his head from using it the past 7 hours. He needed to get shorter shifts.

“Now, Ri-chan needs to close up. Master can come back at another time and Ri-chan will take good care of him, so for now, can you please leave?”

Is he hearing her right? Did this girl really put up the audacity to talk to him that way? Not that Ayato has been here before, but he knows that waitresses aren’t really supposed to be talking to their customers like that. That’s just poor customer service. Damn, as if her flat chest isn’t enough of a disappointment, this girl goes off giving unwanted advice. What’s with women giving him suggestions he never asked for these days? 

“As compelling as that sounds, I’m not exactly in the mood to take anyone’s advice tonight.” Ayato gives her a dubious look, somewhat put off at how the waitress had shown contempt at his behavior yet still managed to keep her character in check. If the circumstances were different, her eerie attitude would have daunted him. But in this case, her manner of speaking towards him would have normally pissed him off but he has already invested that much energy on Reiji. He just really needs something warm to eat-- preferably a meal that isn’t immersed in preservatives.

Plus, she’s cute. Boobless, but cute. He doesn’t snap at cute girls unless he really has to.

“And if you actually think I’d waste my money on a microwavable meal, then you need to work on your judgment of character. Do I look like someone who would eat something that cheap?” He looks down at his outfit only to realize that he is technically only clad in a red hoodie, old jeans, and a pair of worn-out Chuck Taylors. Not exactly his usual style but he had just gotten out of bed and threw on whatever he found lying around in his room. 

“Never mind that.” He shakes his head anyway. “Bottom line is I’m hungry and I want a warm meal. I can’t cook for shit. If you can’t cook for me here, then you can cook for me back in the mansion. I’ll just pay you if you want money.”

unfurtunate catastrophe [ayato&ichimatsu]

Ichimatsu shifted uncomfortably, growing more tense by the second. This had never happened before. For all the times he’d wandered into the dark, dingy back alleys of Bellevue just to pet a cat or two, he’d never ran into any trouble. Despite the shady locations, those who had stumbled across him in the past were curious about his actions, but pleasant all the same. This stranger didn’t seem to have a single pleasant bone in his body.

Fingers brushing through the fur of the stray that had claimed his lap for it’s own, the sudden nudge to the side of his leg causes the fourth-born to freeze in place, the hair on the back of his neck bristling with a held breath. 

It wasn’t like with his brothers where he could threaten or dismiss things without a care, nor did he have them to handle the situation for him. Usually, ignoring the problem until it went away worked just fine, but this person seemed particularly persistent. Letting the cat on his lap slink away, Ichimatsu pushed himself up from the filthy floor, hooking the edge of the mask with a finger to pull it down as he turned to look at the other like he’d demanded, eyelids heavy yet unblinking as the shitty aura that thickened the air around him multiplied tenfold. 

“I don’t have a collection. These are strays.” 

Pointing out the obvious, perhaps, but Ichimatsu didn’t trust himself enough to properly keep one. Esper was the one and only exception after having been brought to a whole new country with him, but even then he still acted like a stray – disappearing for days at a time whenever he felt like it. 

Voice low as if he was muttering under his breath, the fourth-born spoke up again.

“Who are you? You say yours truly like someone important, but you just seem like a brat.”

The tension that has somehow stiffened in the air leaves Ayato uneasy as he stares down at the other male. The urge to make fun of the dark circles under the guy’s eyes is a tremendous temptation for him right now just so he could get rid of the taut atmosphere hovering above them but for some reason, this stranger seems to be the type who doesn’t take bullshit easily. While he does indeed look like someone who could be a potential member of Ayato’s circle of friends (just as long as he lets the redhead walk all over him), he has a tongue that is just far too sharp for him to fit in.

“A brat?” A frown curls Ayato’s lips, his fingers twitching and itching for a fight. Unfortunately, he can’t go down that road again. At least not until his father cools down from his tremendously high blood pressure when Ayato got sued by some family for breaking their son’s arm. “Aren’t you being the brat here, you lil shit? It’s not everyday you get something free from the Sakamaki’s-- especially from the best one.”

He can’t even believe that this guy has absolutely no idea who he is. Is he so damn poor that he can’t even afford a television?

With his free hand, he points at the stranger with an air of thundering self-importance. “You listen here and you listen good! I, Ayato Sakamaki, am not gonna tolerate your mental incapacity and your fucked-up way of--” He blunders on his dialogue the very second his brother’s kitten suddenly hops onto his shoulder then up to his head just as when another cat claws and attaches itself on his leg.

“Oi!” Carefully, he tries to shake the unfamiliar cat off but it keeps its grip steady on his pants. “Get your damn girlfriend off of me!”

“Don’t call me kid, you’re barely any older than me.” She huffed as she listened to his complaints concerning his family. It didn’t sound like her problem in the slightest, but she supposed she couldn’t do much but accept that he was going to dump the cat here one way or another. Arguing with him seemed like waste of her time at this point.

“I don’t want your money. But I also don’t want your cat. It’s impossible to adopt out cats, and we already have a pretty full load. She’ll end up getting shoved into a dark cage for 12 hours every day and barely get any time to play with human beings. Is that really want you want? Are you truly so heartless you’d leave this poor kitten here all alone?” Actually, she had a feeling the answer to that was yes.

“Erm, how about this. If you spend some time with me in the Valor wing we can see if someone will be willing to show you some tips to keep the poor cat out of your hair. If nothing works then I’ll take her off your hands and finish off this paper work. It’s a win-win situation for you. Sound good?”

Huh? Shoved into a dark cage for 12 hours every single day? What kind of place is this? If they need bigger spaces for their animals, then they should work on expanding a more substantial building. Ayato's gaze involuntarily shifts down from the employee and to his brother's kitten who's now staring at the girl, stretching her neck with as much curiosity as any kitten would normally have. Just imagining her locked in a cage for hours-- scared and confused while wondering when she’ll be taken back home-- leaves a tight knot in his stomach.

He stays silent for a few seconds, considering it. Perhaps they’ll let Subaru pay her a visit every now and then. But then how would she feel if he leaves and she’s left alone in the cage again, anticipating for his next visit? The employee’s next words eventually snatch his attention away from his pondering and he directs his eyes back at her.

“Hah? You want me to spend time with you? You sure have an odd way of asking a guy out.” As he says this, the kitten mewls out as if in agreement. “I get that you can’t control your intense attraction for me but I don’t know. Staying behind the counter in an animal center isn’t really the most ideal date to most people. And I only like sophisticated women so this isn’t going to work for you.”

Izumi didn’t expect to suddenly encounter someone asking for his money. He was a bit surprised by it. It felt like he was being cornered by some high school bully or something.

❝What? No!❞

He wasn’t about to give up his left over change, not when he could get more sweets or even use them on one of the claw machines that had anime merch in it. He came here to have a fun time, not to suddenly be grabbed by some bully. He yanked out of the other’s grip and steps away. Izumi wasn’t strong, but he could run.

“Did you just seriously say no to Yours Truly?” 

The gall of this kid! Just a few fucking coins wouldn’t hurt. What’s he being petty for? The urge to snap the boy’s spectacles in half twitches his fingers but he refrains himself from doing so. The last thing he needs right now is getting sued again by some geek whose parents turned out to be as well-off as they are. Looks can be deceiving after all.

“Look kid, you’ll end up in Santa’s naughty list if you’re being fucking selfish. I just need a couple of change to win this damn game. You can keep the doll if Yours Truly wins it.”
