Archive.org is facing a lawsuit
tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above, without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.
DONATE HERE (post dont get much exposure with working links sorry)

Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It's known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you're too close, you'll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.

Okay. I mention my philosophy professor and the lesson I learned in one of his Ethics lectures a lot, but the world keeps giving it meaning, so….
He asked us one hot summer day how to measure an evil. How do you measure the Holocaust? the genocide of the Native Americans? American slavery? a massacre? We, a bunch of kids whose brains hadn’t finished growing in yet, were mildly stumped. It wasn’t the number of the dead, we were told. Instead, we were told to imagine the following:
You’re standing on a street corner. There is a line of people in front of you. One by one, they introduce themselves to you. One by one, you learn names and what they did, maybe a hobby, maybe how many siblings or kids or nephews they had. One by one, you heard about talents or hobbies, what they did on their last holiday. One by one, you meet those who were lost.
This is how you measure an evil, my professor taught us. You measure not the number, but the individuals lost. Not just the names, but who they were, their connections to others. What is lost is an irreplaceable human being. The evil is measured not in the number, but in the who was lost. All of those whos matter. Every life listed above and listed on other pages mattered. Losing them hurts all of us. We lost nearly 100,000 irreplaceable human beings. This did not have to happen. That is the measure of the evil of “it’ll all just go away”.
May their memories be a blessing to those who knew them and mourn them. May they Rest In Peace. May we never forget they were living, breathing human beings whose lives were important and mattered. May we never allow negligence, nepotism, greed, racism, ageism, ableism, and incompetence to do this to us again.
It’s going to get worse before it gets better.
Reblogging again for ultra-relevant commentary.
I just witnessed a murder.
You know he’s gonna cry when he gets in the car…

We should be more pro-active or we’ll see more of such sad fates of honest people.
And the utterly ironic thing is I’ve seen repeated tumblr posts of that iconic photo absolutely slagging the shit out of Peter Norman as “lol white guy so uncomfortable” “Why the fuck isn’t he supporting them”, etc etc.
As an Australian this post surprised me. I knew none of the above.
People need to learn this shit so they can emulate it - this is what it means to stand in solidarity with people; it tends to be a difficult, quiet thing that costs you, and yet it’s the right thing to do.
Reblog if you agree.
I agree
My Jewish grandpa (may he rest in peace) didn’t fight Nazis for me not to reblog this.

script from @bluecollarbabe1 on instagram. even if you can’t protest, you can still be heard. use your voice. do something.
TEXT:
To whom it may concern:
I am writing you about the murder of George Floyd by MPD officers Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao. These men were not upholding the law, they were committing murder and terrorizing their community. Being fired is not an appropriate response to the crime. All officers must be charged with murder.
We cannot continue this way. This is not the way forward. Use your station and power for change; for good. Give a voice to the smothered. Prove that all lives matter. Do your job.
When the streets clear and the ashes fade, George Floyd will not be forgotten. The events transpiring may very well be plastered into history books. The world is watching. My generation will not fail to tell our children exactly what happened. Your actions now will cement how you are remembered. If you stand up and act, you will be remembered for your bravery, choosing to enact justice. If not, history will sneer at your cowardice. The choice is yours.

I'm with yall on this, but I have to point out that Brooklyn 99 very deliberately went out of its way to have an entire arc dedicated to racial profiling and the use of excessive force and violence within the police force and speak out against it. It features a gay black man in a position of respect and authority, and does NOT gloss over how being gay and black affected the extreme discrimination he faces constantly. It has canon bi, gay, and lesbian characters and people of color all in leading roles.
It has also tackled gender inequality and sexist police behavior, all with great care taken to show how unjust and unacceptable it is. It also has several arcs dedicated just to discussing corruption and abuse of power in the police force from the highest ranking administrators to the lowest ranking cop.
This show is actually advancing these conversations and drawing light to these subjects in an incredibly powerful way that has impressed me. We NEED a show like this, taking an extremely hard stance against the issues within police forces and exposing it to the light with no punches pulled.
I hate cops so, so much. They've menaced me at every protest, march and Pride I've ever been to. I still have scars from some of them. And I still applaud B99 for the conversations its started and the subjects its tackled.
I've never seen another cop show come even CLOSE to touching these subjects. B99 made it the center of their entire show.
Yeah stop making weird stands on shows you clearly don’t watch. I hate cops and am really pro BLM, but this is just nonsense.
Op has also purposely ignored this comment and that says all you need to know. They’re a shit stirrier and an attention seeker.
