⼠overcoming fears ;
she allowed him take her by the hand. it had been a while since she had felt someoneâs hand against hers. she wasnât sure what to think, but she let him take her down the hill and towards the pitch. her hand fell to her side as he let go and told her to wait, so wait she did. she stood there, nervous, bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet. her eyes followed him as he retrieved the broom and then they were turned towards the sky, watching the clouds, wishing they were substantial enough to catch her.
she watched him return with anticipation. the broom was in his hands and it looked so simple, so innocent, but she was terrified of it. she glanced from him to the floating broom, and back to him. her brain told herself to go to it, but her feet werenât moving. her body was shaking and she balled her hands into fists to try and control herself.Â
"do i really have to?" she asked him, taking a step closer, hand automatically reaching out for his. it was strange. she didnât know him all that well, but he was the only one there to offer any sort of comfort and she needed that right now as she stood beside the broom, watching it hover so sinisterly.
he watched the girl, overthinking about everything whether he was doing the right thing, maybe he became too persistent and forceful towards her? well, he was just really trying to help, and he knew he came this far, the only thing he can do is to be responsible and help the girl feel less terrified if that is possible. he bit his lower lip, feeling rather guilty.
"well..." he didn't know what to reply, the guilt he was feeling-- but they already came this far, the broom is already in his hands and it's just too late to step back and walk away. "we came this far.... take all the time you need, i'll give you time to relax. i do know you're quite tense right now and nervous." he smiled at her, more like an assuring smile.Â
he looked around, still holding his position, "well, we're alone in the field after all." he was hoping that would actually help her gain more confidence and make her feel less tense with the thought of having no audience around. "you know.. i was once afraid of flying when i was a kid, i was afraid of heights."
