this leucistic common raven was spotted around anchorage, alaska. leucism is a genetic condition that results in a similar appearance to albino animals. however, leucism differs from albinism in that it’s only a partial loss of melanin; this bird can be identified as leucistic by their blue eyes, which would be pink or red in an albino bird. leucism often causes premature death in birds, as it makes them more vulnerable to predators and social rejection; additionally, melanin is an important component in birds’ feathers, and birds with less melanin may have weak or brittle feathers that result in poor flight or trouble staying warm. however, this individual has survived to adulthood and seems to be in good health as well as accepted by their flock.

Arngrim. He was a berserker, who figures in Hervarar saga, Gesta Danorum, Lay of Hyndla, a number of Faroese ballads and Orvar-Odd’s saga in Norse mythology. Arngrim went pillaging to Gardariki and met its king Svafrlami, who was in possession of Tyrfing at the moment. Tyrfing cut through Arngrim’s shield and down into the soil, whereupon Arngrim cut off Svafrlami’s hand, grabbed the sword and slew him with his own weapon. Then Arngrim captured Svafrlami’s daughter Eyfura and forced her to marry him. Another version however relates that Arngrim became Sigrlami’s war-chief and won many battles and conquered land and subjects for the old king. In recompense, Arngrim was given a high position in the realm, Eyfura and Tyrfing. In all versions of the saga, Arngrim returned to Bolmsö with Eyfura. They had twelve sons who all followed in their father’s footsteps and became berserkers. They were called Angantyr, Hjörvard, Hervard, Hrani, Barri, Tyrfing, Tind, two Haddings, Bui, Bild and Toki.

Lecter Castle

As a big fan of Hannibal and an art historian, I’ve always been intrigued by this castle that we can see as the Lecter family’s castle in season three. So I did some research, and I found out that it is actually this castle : château de Noisy (or château Miranda) in Belgium.

And I also found out that this castle was abandonned since 1991, and that it is now threatened to be destroyed (Wikipedia even says that the castle has actually been destroyed in October 2017, but I couldn’t find any proof of it).

So I just wanted to share these pictures with you, enjoy this beautiful castle, and cry, maybe, over its fate and destruction.
