darling-of-the-dangerous:
It wasn’t her fault?? The little girl didn’t understand and her confusion was written clear as day across her face. As far as she knew it was always her fault. Or at least that was what she had always been told… Which meant that she had been berating herself mentally ever since she had crawled back to the van all bruised and aching. She should have remembered where the Snakes lived and kept out!
Kveta was quiet as Amanda came to sit beside her. She was as unused to kindness from women as she was unused to it from men. She had been abused by both and so letting the woman brush back her hair made her all tense and ready for Amanda to hit her, too. But instead her touch was soft and gentle. Slowly, almost like a frightened kitten, she moved closer, worming her way under Amanda’s arm so that she could lean against her side.
“Never?” That seemed like… like a dream, but also almost impossible. But Kveta trusted Amanda as much as she could trust her new family. She was still learning and feeling out her place among them. “Really?”
When she curled closer, there was a bit of a flame in Amanda. She asked again... could Amanda promise that? She wanted to really fucking badly. The words were bubbling on her lips, ready to swear to this girl that by some force they could protect her from everything. She couldn’t though... Amanda couldn’t even protect Vogel. Not without magic. “If anybody tries it, we’ll kick their ass.”
Amanda’s words were spoken with determination to make them real. She would go to war for Kveta, simply because she was a child with nobody else looking out for her.
“You’ll kick their ass if you have to. We can teach you,” well, the boys could. Truthfully Amanda liked the baseball bat method. Hand to hand wasn’t her style. She stroked back Kveta’s hair and rubbed her back gently, trying to soothe her. “Nobody’s gonna touch you unless you want them to.”
‘ how did you get that black eye? ’ [xx-drummer/amanda to kveta - hurt prompt]

The little girl had curled up in the back after the rowdy boys and Eevee had come back from causing a hallabullo. She had let her tangled hair fall over her eyes, hoping that no one would notice her new shiner. But, living in tight quarters, that was not really possible. Especially since she was so young. At eight years old Kveta was quite used to the abuse, so she really hadn’t thought any differently of it until Amanda brought it up. She lowered her head like a frightened animal.
“T’ain’t ‘is faul’,” she said, shaking her head. “I’s wandered inta t’e Snake territory. T’ey ain’ like no strangers comin’ ‘round.“ Not even little girls like herself. And so Kveta had been beaten down by a group of teenage boys in the back of the bar. All she had been able to do was cover her head as they rained down those hard hits on her, but they still managed to hit her eye.
Kveta shifted uncomfortably and tried to hide on the floor of the van.
The idea of people hurting a kid... well it didn’t sit right with Amanda. She was so little and shy, it was hard not to feel at least a little protective. Kveta had been with them for a short time. When Amanda set out with The Rowdy 3 her goal was to find people like Dirk or the boys. Kveta was neither of those things but they weren’t about to kick the rainbow monster’s new friend to the curb. Especially not in that state.
“Nobody’s saying it’s your fault, don’t worry,” Amanda said quickly. She didn’t want this kid to have to defend herself. Not anymore and not to her. They were a ways away from where they picked up the stray, so going after the group for revenge was (while possible) very unlikely.
“Hey,” she murmured as the girl tried to melt away into the red interior. Amanda sat beside her to try to offer some form of comfort. She stroked the childs hair back and looked around, hoping to find any kind of support. Instead her eyes fell on a pile of sleeping bodies, rocked to sleep by Martin’s cruise control. “Nobody is ever gonna hurt you again okay? I promise...” it was a very very tall claim.
She’s so happy to have friends I love her so much ahhhhh

It’s easy to just hide out, and hope that your problems will go away. I for sure get that impulse. But then that gives your problem all of the power.
