Behind the scenes of PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026)
Really glad predictive text exists. Should i bring my own parking lot
So, it's time to go fishing. We're going to make a 10-kilometer-long chain, put a sampling device of some kind on the end (Rocky will make that), and drag it through the atmosphere. Easy enough, right? PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026) directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, adapted from the novel 'Project Hail Mary' by Andy Weir
ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICAL 💀💀💀
okay I've been thinking about this for a hot second but I'm only getting to it now. I just love the karaoke scene and the framing, and after listening to the director's commentary, I love the scene even more.
Whenever Grace is in the shot, he's literally in the spotlight and there is a lot of space around him. People are turned away from him.
Whenever it goes to Stratt, the screen is crowded with people and Ilyukhina is swaying back and forth, cutting off the line of sight.
Grace is open. Grace is also very alone. Both of them are even surrounded by people, but it's more prominent with Grace. Stratt even at her most vulnerable is still hiding.
Now, the directors talked about this scene and the previous scene as Grace asking whether Stratt is someone who he can have as a close friend and with Stratt responding with by singing a song, saying "maybe someday." She cares very deeply for these people, but she has to put that aside to do her job. The directors go on to say that Grace is sort of daring her, asking her if she's a full human being and she says she is, but she has to chose to not be.
I also love how the directors talk about Grace and Stratt's relationship. There's no jokey "well they might something more *wink wink*" but that they are friends that wish to be closer but due to circumstance can't. I also really like during the scene where they "ask" Grace to be put on the Hail Mary, Lord calls their relationship one of the most important ones in Grace's life.
does anyone want to see a really good picture of my kitty cat
not a cat, first off
snale
“Holy moly!” I say. “Holy moly”? Is that my go-to expression of surprise? I mean, it’s okay, I guess. I would have expected something a little less 1950s. What kind of weirdo am I? Project Hail Mary, page 15
Can you take a compliment, please?
