this instantly transported me back to that scene in clockwork princess where Will sees him as a Brother for the first time after having believed that he had passed, and they fight together for one last time. Will joked and complimented Jem on his weapon of choice: “nice stick.”

all of this to say: I choose to believe this is the same staff/cane he used back then. the weapon he used in his first fight as a Brother, which was coincidentally also the last he fought alongside Will, was also the one he yielded when he fought as a Brother for the last time, alongside Jace, a Herondale descendant.
