a helping hand | luhan-eunji
What was this kid’s problem? Yeah, she’d snapped at him for digging through the bushes, but he reacted as if she were a 180cm tall body builder with a fist raised instead of… well, Eunji with her eyebrow raised. She’d yelled at a lot of kids before, and had been met with a lot of different reactions- anger, threats, pleading for forgiveness- but speechless, white-faced fear was a new one.
He gaped at her, and it looked like he really tried to say… something… but no sound came out of his mouth (it wasn’t until much later that day that Eunji noticed the humor in the idea that she might be an illiterate lip reader). When he held up his hand and started flicking his thumb against his forefinger, Eunji thought maybe he’d gotten a bug bite while digging around in the bush and was trying to scratch it, though she couldn’t actually see any marks on his finger.
"Do you need to see the nurse?" she asked. "If you got stung or something she’ll get that stinger right out. Eunji grabbed him by the shoulder and turned him around to face the right building. "Just walk straight and follow the signs once you get to the building," she said. "You wouldn’t have this problem if you’d stayed out of my gardens." She gave him a light push in the right direction and then turned herself back around to survey the damage.
It wasn’t too bad, the bush more or less just needed fluffed up again. It only took a second or two to get it looking right again. She was just about done when a silver glint caught her eye- stuck way down near the root of the bush was one of those little fancy lighters, the kind you refill instead of just throwing it away and getting a new one. She pocketed it before standing up, wondering if that kid had dropped it. Oh well, just a lighter. He can get a new one.
Luhan violently flinches at the sudden grab of his shoulders as he is hastily turned around to face a building. Hearing the groundskeeper's words, the blond could only blink in befuddlement but nods his head anyway; still attentively listening to her words. Once Eunji gave him a light push, Luhan nods again before making his way to the building.
All right, see the nurse and have the stinger out then-- wait, where the hell am I going?
After a few more seconds of recalling why he's heading for the nurse, he grimaces in distaste. Shaking his head at the ridiculous fact that he actually listened to the girl, Luhan swiftly turns around and hastily heads back for the bushes where he sees Eunji just standing up after fixing up the mess he had created with the bushes. He frowns at her, displeased by how she had just easily distracted him.
He waits for her to leave for now, knowing that there's no way she's going to let him mess around the bushes again. She just couldn't understand how much he desperately needs that lighter, could she? Once Eunji's finally out of sight, Luhan adjusts his scarf before promptly going back to his previous spot in attempt to search for his lighter.
He could go on all day and night if he had to. Of course, buying a new lighter would be a piece of cake but he doesn't want any old lighter. He wants his lighter.
