(( heyhi! so I just got home after dropping everyone off and omg so there was a highway accident that lead to the person picking people up being stuck between exits for 3 and a half hours instead of 10 minutes and i feel so bad omg. But tbh I’m super content rn cuz I just spent over 24 hours with people I love for the first time in months so I’m happy. ^^

“What kind of guilt could a hero like you carry?”He looked at the man, brow raised. “I mean, you save people, there can’t be much to be guilty about…you haven’t done anything that bad, have you? I mean, I’ve killed hundreds of innocent people…at least you were trying to do the right thing…in my book, that makes you pretty clear of a lot of guilt.”

“If only it were that easy. It doesn’t matter that I’m trying to do good if I fail.” It was a twisted way to think of things, and a standard he wouldn’t place on anyone else. But in his book that’s the way he judged his own actions. “And I’ve failed enough to have my share of guilt. So any successes are just trying to make up for those. Besides, I’m no hero.”

So you’re alright                              with seeing a weapon..❞                   Maka paused, before carefully lowering her                  large scythe so the blade rested lazily upon                 the solid ground.                             ❝A pleasure to meet you, Bucky.                            I’m Maka.❞

“I’m a lot more than ‘alright’ with seeing weapons.” He said with a small, humorless laugh. His eyes didn’t leave the blade until it was on the ground, only then did he look back up at her face. “Good to meet you too. So- where do you get one of those?”

She looked at him pointedly, this time speaking slowly, enunciating each word as if it was it’s own sentence. “I’m fine. Thanks,” She folded her arms, rolling her eyes dramatically

“Really?” Bucky took a step towards her. “Because even if the fight’s over it’s still dangerous. I don’t think you know what you could be getting into, kiddo.” There wasn’t any real chances of danger, but right now he still couldn’t shake the concern.

“Yeah we would be..” Steve says before he shakes his head and then gave Bucky a playful swat when he realized what the frown was about, after all he knew how much Bucky had worried about him pretty much their whole lives…

“Hey…the frail me is in the past. What we can focus on now is mocking this generation for their movies.”

He says as he led Bucky towards the common room of the compound before he moved away to go grab the dvds, “Make yourself as comfortable as you’d like,” Steve says as he searches the DVD library

“Skinny you better stay in the past.” Bucky lightly slapped back at Steve’s arm and trailed behind him until they arrived at the compound. “Well, the movie can’t be worse than some of the ones we used to have.” 

He stood in the center of the room silently at first. Ironically making himself comfortable often wasn’t comfortable. He would of been content to simply stand to the side during the duration of the movies, but something told him Steve wouldn’t approve of that. 

After a minute’s hesitation he decided to sit down on the side of couch nearest the TV, tucking himself into the corner besides the armrest. He grabbed a blanket from nearby and pulled it over his legs before pushing himself up on his arm to look over the back of the couch. “You need a hand there, Stevie?”

(( we’ve had a few days of super nice aka rainy, cold, weather finally so tbh I’ve just been outside most of the day trying to enjoy it before it gets gross hot again. Sorry I feel really bad I’m doing so little writing I just want to enjoy the cold weather while it’s here ^^”

Wanda had never seen Bucky like this. She didn’t even really know if she had seen anyone like this. And she knew it was so much more than another person thanks to his serum. And she knew it took more for him to feel much of anything, but she was afraid of how much more could push him over a dangerous edge.

She stormed over to him, prying the bottle from her hand, with a little boost from her powers to make sure he’d give it up. “Hey? Hey. That’s what you are going with? Hey.” She angrily put the bottle on the table, the glass making a harsh sound against the surface. Everything about her was angry, but she was absolutely terrified.

“Can you answer my question? How much did you have? Or do you not even know?” She reached up to his face, trying to look into his eyes to see how far gone he was from there, scared to go into his head.

Bucky made a small noise of protest as she took the bottle away. Weakly he tried to keep his grip on the bottle but it was no use. Even without her powers Wanda could easily take the bottle from him right now. The harsh sound filled the room and Bucky groaned and refrained from covering his ears. Everything was so loud it hurt. The bottle, her voice, and even his own head was painful to hear. 

“I.. ’m sorry.. I’m sorry.” he said quietly. It wasn’t a lie, but it also wasn’t the truth. This wasn’t the first time he’d hit up bars and the occasional back alley deal until the serum couldn’t keep him sober and he eventually blacked out. And he didn’t intend for it to be the last either. But he was so sorry Wanda had to see him like this. He didn’t plan on anyone ever finding him in this state, especially her. 

Bucky kept his stare trained down even as she took his face. He couldn’t bring himself to look her in the eyes, not right now. God, he needed another drink.  “I don’t know... It was.. I don’t know...” he trailed off. Even if he tried to remember any more it was all a blur of one thing after the other. “

                    ❝ to most, coming out of cryo is an adjustment process. ❞ the screen projects the man’s health readouts before him, listing all elements from blood pressure to sugar content. his hand drops from his chin, where it had been held in contemplation, as he surveyed barnes beyond it.  ❝ but your vitals appear remarkably steady thus far. however, i must ask, do you feel well? ❞

“I’ve gone under more than most. It’s honestly more familiar to be on ice than to not.” Bucky said trying to keep his voice sounding light.  His eyes didn’t leave the screen. Being watched so closely was unnerving for him, even if it was by someone he mostly trusted. “I feel fine. It’s like being thrown into an ice bath, but it’s much better than it normally is coming out.”

“With magic- and Stark science. He can really pack a blow into one of these,” his grin turned wicked, “I do. Fully,” he chuckled, “In fact, I’m willing to bet on it.”

“Of course, magic and Stark science. But still, you can only do so much to a piece of wood.” He bit at the side of his mouth as he grinned. Bucky didn’t see any real problems with them, in fact they could have some real strength. But he was really enjoying himself. “Are you now? What do you have in mind?”

“But I’m the one that has to live with it. I’m the one that feels the guilt, not them,”he looked down and sighed. “What do you do to clear your mind of guilt? I don’t imagine you have much guilt though…you’re Captain America.”

“Captain America’s just a title I inherited.. So I have plenty of guilt don’t you worry.” Bucky looked down at his suit and laughed, almost bitterly. He moved his arm so the shield was in front of him and let out a breath. “And I don’t... I don’t clear my mind of the guilt I mean. It’s something I’ll always carry with me.”

Heat rushed up to her face at his comment, a deep red flush creeping quickly up her neck and her cheeks. She looked nothing like Peggy, not since her teenage years when she’d dyed her hair brown so she could look like her (not since her teenage years, when her mother had stopped speaking to her until the brown had grown out and Sharon had finally cut it off because her hair was getting too long).

She managed a faint smile, managed a polite laugh. “If you think I look like her, you don’t remember what she looks like,” she answered. “No, I look more like my mom. My brother and I, we take after her. My dad’s got the Carter genes – the dark hair and dark eyes.”

He watched her reaction to the comment carefully. He couldn’t know what she was thinking, but the rapid coloring of her face alone told him a lot. He hadn’t expected the comment to have such an impact. “I remember what she looks like fine. She was your age the last time I saw her.” Bucky paused and looked ahead, thinking through the next thing he said. “You don’t have her hair, no. But the way you hold yourself is like her. Voice too. And the looks in your eyes are the same, not the color. ”

It’s fairly easy                            to fight with, if given training.❞                  Retorted the woman, lithe pale fingertips curled                 around the hinge of the scythe.                            ❝Who are you, anyways?❞

“I’m curious. I’ve used and fought a lot of weapons, but never someone using one of those.” He carefully watched her hand move on the scythe. Instinctively his own hand moved to his side, resting on top of a holster. “My name is Bucky though. Who’re you?”

Wanda was really regretting getting out of training with Steve occasionally, because it would have made carrying even some of Bucky’s weight easier. Silly supersoldiers. “Well, it is not like I am a huge fan of it. I can deal with it, obviously, but I don’t think anyone else would appreciate it lingering everywhere.” She shook her head as she continued leading him into his room. “I am going to see you off to sleep to make sure you don’t accidentally hurt yourself more.”

“True, blood perfume never did sell well. Almost like people don’t like it around the house.” Bucky leaned against his door, clutching the doorknob and focusing on keeping his balance. “If you insist, come on in. I think I can make it to my bed on my own though. How much could I possibly hurt myself?” A lot. If there was one thing Bucky was very capable of it was doing something to get himself seriously injured.
