That IS great, but we’ve had a lot of this before. I wish people wouldn’t ignore the older movies, especially the classics, to praise the new ones-

Girls who had to work hard for something and succeeded:

Overcoming depression:

Learning to trust:

Diverse cast and shows science is exciting:

Probably far more than that, but that’s just a few off the top of my head.

Then there is Lilo and Sitch which covers:

-The value of family, as well as the message that you can make your own family and that family is as valuable as the one you are born with

-Overcoming labels slapped on you by others and that you can make your own path (Stitch is labeled a monster at the start and by the end, he has overcome some of his programming and is a productive member of society)

-Determination can lead to success

-Arguably overcoming depression, since Lilo does start off as a very sad little girl and gets better over the course of the movie

-The main cast is non white, either Hawaiian or Samoan 

-Accepting the differences in others (the humans and aliens grow to work together)

-There is not a big romantic plot at all, since the movie is more focused on the bonds and love of a family.

i have a special place in my heart for children who calmly translate for their parents. so proud of how they switch their tongue, carrying two languages in their mouth without ever feeling like their parents are a burden. bless your hearts.
