His voice brought back memories of dark rooms and broken bones.

"Are you sober?" "Im moderately functional." "ill take that as a no."
Y/N, the only daughter of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen. To reunite the two houses Hightower and Targaryen, she is promised to marry one of the sons of Alicent and Viserys.
But once King Viserys dies, the whole purpose of the marriage is ruined and it's Hightower versus Targaryen once again…

“And that's Y/N out!”
“Y/N crashed! Will she ever recover?”
“And the dutch Lamborghini driver is out!”“OH! That must've hurt! L/N is out!”
It hurt hearing those messages, seeing the yellow and red flags around the track, it hurt seeing her so upset.
She won't talk to me, she won't talk to Logan.. It's just been radio silence..
“Lando! Are you coming or not? I can't do this on my own.” I look up, Logans shouting pulling me out of whatever headspace I was in.
I nod and quickly get up from the bench I was on.
“Are we really kicking the door in? It's a hotel, we can just go down to the reception..” I grimace at the thought of what the team and hotel managers will have to say about us kicking down Y/N’s door…
“We'll pay for it, it's just a damn door. And Y/N is more important than that right? She let the comments get to her! Have you not seen the comments?-” “I’ve seen the damn comments! I have not seen Y/N! But that doesn't mean I'll just break down her hotel door!” Logan notices my obvious frustration and nods.
“Fine, we'll go get a room key..” He mutters and turns promptly around to the elevator.
For a moment I'm shocked he actually listened to me, so far, when it's about Y/N, he wouldn't listen to me. I know he's her teammate, but that doesn't stop me from being her best friend on the grid..
Best friend… a term I've grown to hate when it's about Y/N…
“This was your idea! Let's go or I'm actually kicking the door in!” Logan once again shakes me out of my daze and I quickly walk to the elevator.
“Coming.. Coming…” I mumble as I click the button to go to the lobby.
“She shut me out.. Only speaking to her engineer and no one else..” Logan whispers as I nod in response. “She shut me out too.. The comments were horrible, I can only imagine what dms she's received.. The car is made for her, yet she's fighting it with her life.. If she continues this she might actually lose her life..”
We both sigh as my words sink in.
When we arrive at the lobby, I rush to the reception and asks for a room key to Y/N’s room.
“Could we please hurry this up?” I try my best not to rush the receptionist, but I can't help it, Y/N is on the line here..
The receptionist nods and I feel a hand on my shoulder, turning around I see it's Logan, who looks at me with a worried expression.
I watch as his hand moves down to mine, prying my hand open.. Now I notice that I've been digging my nails into my palms, creating small wounds on them.
“Sorry.. Guess I'm stressed, we don't know what we'll find in her room…” I mutter as I take the room key from the receptionist's hand.
Logan nods silently as we walk back to the elevator.
The elevator ride was silent, the loudest sound would probably be my heels clacking against the elevator floor.
“She’ll be fine man..” Logan mutters, his voice sounding not too sure about himself.
I nod, trying to calm myself.
When we arrive at the room, I hesitated to put the key to the lock.
“Are you okay?” I nod, finally gaining the courage to grab the key and open the door.
“Y/N? Are you there?” Logan calls out.
“Y/N? Where-” I'm interrupted by a sob coming from the bathroom.
I look at Logan, who nods and we both hurry to the bathroom door.
“Y/N? It's us, Lando and Logan..” I lean against the door, listening to the sobs, my heart shattering with each one.
“Can you let us in? We can't help you if we're outside and you're inside the bathroom..” Logan also leans against the door, our bodies close to each other as we listened for any new sounds.
After a few minutes the door opens a little, Y/N emerging from the bathroom with mascara streaks on her beautiful face..
Logan opens his arms for her and she rushes into them. I lead Logan to the queen sized bed, where he lays Y/N down.
I run my hand through her tangled hair, even though it is still as soft as ever..
“They’ve never gotten to me this bad…. Never…” Y/N whispers into a pillow, it's nice to hear her voice again.
“I know…” I whisper, looking at Logan for a little help.
Logan lays down next to her, looking her in the eyes, his hand on her cheek.
The second Logan's hand touched her cheek, I felt something course through me..
I quickly lay down next to them as well.
“How are the injuries..?” I whisper a frown on my face as I watch the bandages on her arms.
“Fine… they don't hurt as much anymore..” She whispers back, making me smile. It's been so long since I've heard her voice…
Logan sighs as he gently touches her arm, and on accident a bandage, making her wince in pain. “They do hurt, don't they?” She nods, obviously feeling bad for lying.
“Love… let us help you..” I plead.
In the corner of my eye I can see Logan getting an idea..
“What if we made you forget about those messages?”
What..? Does he mean..? No.. he couldn't..
“We could go to the park, cuddle some dogs and cats, maybe even go out for dinner..” Logan smiles at Y/N.
That wasn't what i expected.. My face turns red, which Logan surely noticed.
To my surprise Y/N nods, making me and Logan smile widely.

The next few days are filled with spending time with Y/N, each day her smile growing and growing.
Today was the last activity, going out to dinner.
I had dressed in my best suit and so did Logan.
But once we picked Y/N up I immediately felt underdressed. Her beautiful light blue dress fitting her form perfectly and not leaving much to the imagination…
Logan and I held our arms out at the same time, making Y/N giggle and take both of our arms!
I did my best not to show any jealousy, I really tried, but seeing Logan’s smug face just did it…
But i had to stay calm, this was for Y/N.. to make her feel better.
When we sit down at our table the usual boring conversations start, ‘how was your day?’ ‘What did you do?’ always the same..

“How long have you two known each other?” I didn't mean to ask the question, it just came out.
The two share another look and Logan replies, “Since her F3 days, we used to race together for a short while.”
Knew it.
“Race with or against each other?” they both chuckle, as nice as it is seeing Y/N laugh, i don't want her laughing about this…
“We were on the same team, so it's a nice familiar feeling that we're on the same team again.”
Y/N is my friend..
I smile and nod, hiding my hurt.
Why am I feeling hurt? I've known her for a few weeks at best.
Y/N is my friend..
I shouldn't feel these things for her, she's my friend!
“Are you okay Lando?” Y/N’s soft voice pulls me out of the haze i was in.
I nod, “I'm fine Y/N. ready to leave whenever you are.”
The words ring in my ears as I start driving. Starting from P4 isn't bad, but George, Charles and Max were in front of me. Max obviously sped off, Charles following close behind.
I managed to pass George after turn 1, but Charles and Max already had a big gap between us.
After 5 laps I managed to catch up to charles and almost pass him, but turn 13 fucked it up.
“How much time is between me and leclerc?” I ask through the radio. “0.7 second, keep it up, you're almost in the DRS zone.” “copy.”
I do my best to keep this distance until the DRS zone, once in I manage to pass him with ease, putting me in P2.
Luckily Charles couldn't pass me, except for when I pitted, but i quickly regained my spot.

“P2, P2. good job!”
I sit in silence for a while, driving in the car. P2? In the first race of the season? First race of my career in f1? P2?!
“Y/N?” I hear my engineer, shaking me out of the daze I was in.
“P2? Are you serious?”
“very”
“WOOOO! P2 BABY!” I yell in excitement as I pull up to the p2 stand, getting out of the car.
I quickly take off my helmet to see who I ended up on the podium with.
“Max? Natuurlijk ben jij P1!" (of course you’re P1!) I congratulate Max, turning around to see Charles’ car pull into the p3 stand.
“Charles! Congrats man!” I walk up to his Ferrari, hugging him as soon as he climbs out of his car.
“Congrats Y/N you did amazing!”
I smile and run to my team, “P2 baby!”
“Where did Logan end?”
“He got P8.” My mouth drops, p8? That's such an improvement from his time with Williams!

The cooldown room was quiet when I entered it, probably because Max and Charles were too busy chugging their water bottles.
I sigh in contentment and grab my own water bottle, drinking every last drop.
“Congrats on P2 in your very first F1 race, Y/N.” Charles claps me on the back, making me almost choke on my water.
Max laughs in the background and I glare at him as I swallow my water.
“Thanks Charles, you did a great job as well! And Max?”
“Yeah?”
“I hope you choke on your water” I smile at him, making Charles burst into laughter.
“Wow! Okay! What happened to, ‘beetje medelijden voor een mede-Nederlander'?" (A little compassion for a fellow Dutchman?) Max fakes being hurt as I stick my tongue out to him.

Standing on the podium feels the same, yet so different from F2 and F3… nevertheless, it's an amazing feeling. Standing there, the trophee in my hands and champagne next to me and millions of people watching me stand there next to Max and Charles. The Dutch national anthem in the background.
I laugh as I put the trophee down and grab the champagne, already being targeted by both Charles and Max.
I launch the bottle down to the floor as the liquid starts spraying everywhere, mostly at Max and Charles, but also my team who are below the stands.
Everything seems to go in slow motion as I put the bottle to my mouth and drink the liquid, Max and Charles doing the same.
The first woman to stand on the F1 podium..

“Y/N!” I turn around and see Logan running up to me.
“Logan! Congrats on P8!” I give him a hug, smiling.
“I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with us to get dinner, to celebrate.” He smiles when I nod.
“Wait, you said ‘us’ who else is going?” I question him.
“You, me, Max, Charles, George, Lando, Lewis, Carlos and Oscar.” He smiles, making me smile.
“Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!” I exclaim as I run to my black lambo, Logan following closely behind.
The ride there wasn't too long, since the restaurant was almost next to our hotel, which isn't too far from the track either.
“We're here, ready to celebrate?” Logan grins as he turns the car off.
I nod, a huge smile on my face as I get out of the car.
I wait for a hot minute to wait for Logan as he gets out of the car.
“Let’s go!” I exclaim as I speed walk into the restaurant. As soon as I enter I see the others sitting at the reserved table.
“Hi guys!” I smile as I sit down next to Lando, who smiles at me. Logan takes the seat next to me.
“We thought you guys weren't coming.” Max jokes, making me stick out my tongue at him. “Ha ha, very funny Max, why wouldn't we come? We had amazing results!” I laugh, making the rest of the table laugh too.
“Have you seen twitter lately?” Lando asks me, “No, why?”
“You're getting mixed responses to being the only woman on the grid..” His response made me look at him confused.
“I take it I shouldn't look at it?” I smile, already knowing the answer.
Lando only confirmed it by nodding his head. I put my phone back in my purse and grabbed the menu.
“Did you guys already order?” Most of the table shook their heads.
“We wanted to wait until you two were finally here.” Lewis smiles at me.
The waiter comes and we all order. After we got our food and started eating, I took a second to look around the table.
All talented male drivers, and me, a female driver who somehow got a seat with Lamborghini..
I sigh and Carlos notices, looking at me with a look that says, ‘are you okay?’, to which I nod. When I start eating I notice in the corner of my eye that Lando is looking at me, but I pay it no mind and enjoy the food in front of me.

After we all finally finished our food, we paid separately and went on our way. Me, Lando and logan staying behind for a little.
“So.. how was your first ever F1 race?” Lando asked and I could sense the awkwardness in his voice.
I smile, “Amazing, the whole grid is nice, our team is great! The car is just… wow, I don't have enough words to describe this feeling.” Logan and Lando smile at that as the valet comes out with Logan’s car.
I give Lando a hug and we get in the car.
“How was your food?” I ask Logan, trying to make conversation.
“It was good, yours?” okay.. We're both awkward..
I nod and look out the window, enjoying the view.

I dropped myself on my bed, the hotel we're staying at was amazing, comfortable beds, huge bathroom, just amazing.
Logan's room isn't far from mine, literally next to mine.
I sigh, a smile on my face as I look towards the giant window overlooking the race track. A ping comes from my phone. It's Logan,
‘Plane leaves at 8, meet at my room at 6?’
I quickly reply, ‘I'll be there!’
8 am.. So early…
I roll my eyes at the time.
I get up from the bed and walk to the bathroom, getting ready for bed.
When I return I see my phone on my bed, exploding with messages, both from messages and twitter.
I remember what Lando said at dinner, ‘You’re getting mixed responses to being the only woman on the grid..’
I pick up my phone and decide to look at the messages first, seeing messages from almost the whole grid, but mostly Lando and Logan.
‘Don't listen to whatever they say’ -Lando
‘If you want to talk, i'm here’ -Logan
‘Twitter doesn't know anything, you're an amazing driver and friend’ -Lando
‘I think they might be blind, you got p2 all on your own’ -Lando
‘You're an amazing friend, teammate and driver and you're a world champion in f2 and f3! Don't listen to them!’ -Logan
Their messages put worry in me and I hesitated clicking on the twitter icon..
A/N: this ones short, its a prologue. for the real chapters im aiming for around 2000 words or more.

“Question for Y/N, what is it like driving for a new team, in a whole new setting from formula 2?” The first question directed at me, most were directed at Max or Charles, but now one for me.
“It's certainly quite different from f2, but the team and the other drivers are very welcoming and understanding. Driving for a whole new team is very exciting, the car is built based on my data from the sims, so it doesn't feel like I'm fighting against the car, more like with the car. So it's very nice working with a new team.” I smile, looking at the other drivers that were there.
I sit comfortably as more questions are asked, some directed at me and others at Logan, my teammate, and Max.

After the interviews were finally done, I walked to my drivers room, Logan next to me.
“Excited to drive for a team that isn't williams?” I ask him, a smile on our faces.
He nods briefly, “it's gonna be an exciting year, I’m sure of it”
“Maybe we can even rival red bull this year” I laugh.
“Maybe, maybe not. We'll see!” Logan grins as we pass Max and Charles.
“Max! Beetje medelijden voor een mede-Nederlander?" (a little compassion for a fellow dutchman?) I grin at Max, who laughs.
“Dat zou je wel willen he?" (you’d like that wouldn't you?) I frown jokingly at that, Logan and Charles looking confused next to us.
“C’mon Logan, I think a drink is in order to start the season! You two joining us?” I ask Max and Charles, who nod.
“Great! I'll go ask some others as well!”

“To a new season!” We all raise our glasses to the blue and pink sky of Bahrain.
I sigh and take a sip of my bloody mary, watching as the other drivers get comfortable on the terras. In the end it was me, Logan, Max, Charles, Carlos, Daniel, George, Oscar, Lando and Lewis.
“Excited for your first season in f1?” I look up and see Lando standing next to the couch I was sitting on.
I nod, scooting over so he can sit as well.
“Excited, but also a little scared, f1 is a big jump from f2 for me..”
Lando nods, “You'll do great, I'm sure of it. Lambos are great cars, their F1 cars shouldn't be any less!”
I smile and nod, “You're right, this will be an amazing first season.”
Lando holds out his glass for a smaller toast, “Welcome to F1 Y/N.”
