so….. 🤓🤓
I have lots of thoughts at the moment, and initially I thought I would mainly share my art here, but the more I see weird things on v.i.p twt and the more I think about it, the more I can’t keep quiet so I had to finally start my own blog and vent.
the more I see these “it’s weird and sick to speculate about an idol’s orientation” the more I feel sometimes that it’s coming not so much from generally high morality, as from the hidden homophobia . I know for sure that for the straight, general audience being straight - is the default. so when they see that other people read things differently, like the horrific and terrible possibility that their oppa might be the homotron 3000, they feel absolutely terrified, and that’s why they use these phrasing how “disgusting, sick, twisted” it is. and I have this suspicion that they just hide their homophobic feelings behind them… cause genuinely, I believe that most people kind of agree that it’s impossible to state anyone sexuality 100% if you don’t know someone personally or haven’t heard confirmation from them, right? it's not as though we're obligated to constantly add disclaimers like “it’s just our suspicion, don’t take it personally, we’re just having fun here💋💋”, it’s just common sense. we can see that our favourite idol gives off some pretty unmistakable queer signals, and from our own perspective, as a queer part of the fandom, we definitely recognise it, smile and nod to ourselves, and just have a great time with it. so why do we need to apologise to the straight part of the fandom who come and try to humiliate and shame us for that, hiding it behind the “it’s disgusting to discuss someone’s sexuality” rhetoric? but it’s never disgusting when it’s heteronormative, huh? it’s never disgusting assuming jiyong sleeps with women he barely knows? ooh, it’s only sick and weird when it works the other way…
I still find it extremely ridiculous how the most open, brave and queer icon has the worst straight fandom… maybe the less certain they are of their own homophobic beliefs, the less secure they feel, the louder they need to yell just to convince themselves, who knows? 🥱
