How my Thanksgiving 2020 looked like.
Topic: The everyday.
Week 9: Self Portraits. Idea: Attempt at modeling. Well I guess this is what models do their entire lives before dying.
“If teardrops could be bottled, there’d be swimming pools filled by models” -idontwannabeyouanymore, Billie Eilish.
My proposal for the final (But subject to change) Theme 1: People and Everyday. Theme 2: Animals Professor told me the themes are alike with one another so this is a rough draft/placeholder for my final work that will be solidified and finalized in the coming weeks. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1zd4VSFHcpx-nwI--Ygh60fGeFbdyPOSJ For entire list of pictures ^
A very virtually inspired homework for a very virtual year.
Another idea. I think artists are often immersed in the things they like. Whenever I see them, I am envious of what they are doing, such as playing or performing.Such photos are full of power for me.
Music and art. Always a pleasure to see it!
New York
Sex and the City
I started liking New York from this TV show. When I got off the plane, a passer-by said to me, "You are going to love New York." I had my doubts, but Now I want to say: "Yes, I love New York." New York is a strange city, much like a beauty with many faults, but always brings you a surprise, and the surprise will make you forget all her faults.
Gotta love NYC
Theme: The everyday/People
Why I chose/love it: We live in an ever evolving society and it’s amazing to observe the change/changes that are happening around us. Meeting different people and hearing their stories, surveying the environment around me, all of these feel so dynamic and spontaneous. And for those reasons, it gives me the motivation to pursue this aspect of photography.
Theme: Animals/Creatures.
Why I chose/love it: I have always been drawn to the innocence of animals and how they are so unware but contributes so much to the world. As humans, it is a known fact that being on top of the food chain gives us advantages that other biological organisms do not have the privilege of. These lesser beings seen here are vital in so many ways we don’t know.
My photo story. Life in motion. Reliving the joys of swimming as a child in 2020.

I like how my own portrait looks in black and white in contrast to the colored version. The black and white version of the image highlights the shadow on my face and gives off a very ninja like vibe. The second image is my Nintendo Switch and behind it are three videogames for the system. The Switch is a very colorful device and editing it to make it colorless exudes a sense of retro-ness.
My likes and dislikes
I don’t like getting ready in the morning but we live in a society so I am compelled to do so.
The middle frame comprises of the seasons Spring, Winter and Fall. I like Spring and Fall but Winter doesn’t work out for me.
And the final panel consists of seafood vs meat. I don’t like seafood. I prefer red meat products.
I hoped you liked my selection of these 3 triptychs.
“We’re all just ordinary people. We don’t know which way to go. Cause we’re ordinary people, maybe we should take it slow” -Ordinary People, John Legend, 2005.
A summary of my life in pictures spanning a duration of 3 days. Photos taken as it is, capturing the moment and the rawness. No filter, no editing. No pretentious nonsense associated with any of the images.
5 photos that spoke to me the most during my visit to Photoville in Brooklyn. I think these pictures speak a lot for themselves by how the Pandemic has affected lives in a global scale. Gone are the days when you could just go outside without donning any kind of protective gear. Gone are the days when a small sneeze or a cough was the most frivolous of an involuntary body function. As the world shifts towards adjusting to this new normal of life, it is up to both you and me to carry out this simple task of carrying a mask in public to curb the spread of the virus. This very conduct has been made aware to almost everyone on earth but the dire importance of this cannot be stressed enough. - Yimli/y1ml1
Photography inspired by Gregory Halpern. His work on the subject of Everyday Life motivated me to go outside in the busy concrete forests of New York City and capture the essence of existence during the post pandemic. With that being said, here is what I think are my top 5 shots of my own approach that I think are deserving to be displayed here. -Yimli/y1ml1
“With fronds like these, well who needs anemones?” - Owl City. An underwater expedition in the coral reefs of Thailand!
Be one with the primal energy of nature! Me petting a baby tiger!
