will byers is not “gay coded” he’s just gay oh my god… “gay coding” is the ascribing of gay characteristics to characters who are not textually gay (e.g. disney villains who wear hot pink and lisp a lot), it is not an appropriate descriptor for a fourteen-year-old child growing up in a notoriously anti-gay historical and cultural milieu who is described by the creators of the show as having “sexual identity issues” and who repeatedly makes clear his lack of romantic interest in girls while other characters persistently target him for homophobic bullying. sorry to go so hard on this i just think it’s very important that none of this be dismissed as fan speculation or sneaky, under-the-radar “coding” when in fact we have every indication that this is a deliberate and overt part of the text of the show. you can definitely write a gay character without writing an openly gay character, and writing a closeted/questioning kid is not the same thing as gay coding or queerbaiting.

After reading your fanfics (god, your Daud is still killing me), and subsequently getting into Lovestruck (far more than I ever expected to??? You're such a good writer!), I really have to ask: "If you had full liberty to make a dating sim, what type of characters would you make?" (and is the answer: Cranky Old Men?)

oh man. ohhh man. where do i start. i actually had an idea for one earlier this year. but considering the amount of work that it would require - not least of all doing the art assets myself on a forearm that’s been iffy for the past year - i don’t see it going anywhere.

you’re correct in that if i did my own visual novel, i’d make an overall older cast than what i write for lovestruck. that’s not to cast aspersions on them! they know their audience well. but if i did a solo project, it’d have the age range of my personal work. here are some ideas that i took down when i was procrastinating on another big writing project:

- an MC in her thirties with an established career, maybe facing a professional challenge or a turning point in her life. assertive, very aware of her strengths and weaknesses, she’s been around the world and knows what she’s getting into

- a disillusioned former soldier of fortune, the shoe-in for my thing for artfully-weathered older men. a good, even-tempered leader but not exactly warm, like there are certain boundaries he puts between himself and everyone

- a quiet, serious “intellectual warrior” type about the same age as MC. very talented, but reserved because of his tragic past, which makes it tricky for the others to befriend him at first

- a cheeky, morally-fluid, well-dressed grifter who’s good at making himself useful. while he comes off a little sleazy - probably because he is - his spark of real charm wins you over. a bad decision, but a lot of fun

- a rakish-looking punk a couple years younger than MC who often gets into trouble over his head. the opposite of the grifter: seems like he’d be bad news, actually a nice, somewhat lost guy who just wants to belong.

Not to sound like a 90s shallow prep, but how you dress can affect your self esteem, and putting energy into wearing things you actively like and projecting an ideal of yourself through fashion instead of seeing clothes as things you have to put on out of obligation helps.

okay like seriously it’s such a unique experience bc you’re raised to like the same gender you’re raised on the expectation that you’ll marry a boy eventually. but the way it’s talked about thought about Expressed feels Wrong. you don’t want to be a girl on her wedding day marrying a boy. you don’t want to be a girl kissing a guy. you don’t want to be some guys girlfriend. so you say okay I must not like boys (even if you have proof to the contrary let me tell you I had some doozies of gay baby crushes on boys). but that feels weird too. it’s off. it’s Still Not Right. so then when u realize oh hey fuck wait I Am Boy and then that attraction to men is suddenly very appealing like…….. a boys boyfriend???? a boys husband???? it’s all So Much

like idk it’s just a very weird form of internalized homophobia that’s so hard to put into words bc like you weren’t raised to feel ashamed for liking men but it was never Right anyway

I’ve made a previous post about the difference between libra and taurus venus culture. This post aims to point out the similarities between them, as well as how venus culture is personified in western astrology.

They are suckers for eye candy, shiny things and name brand materials.

Venus dominant individuals, especially those with many taurus and libra placements, are turned off by poor manners and indecency. Generally, these people dislike “ugliness” it its many forms. This can mean being turned off by people who don’t put extra effort in appearances. But it can also mean being turned off by a lack of politeness or charm. Venus dominant people will notice when others neglect detail, or choose worse quality over better quality. Stingy and ungenerous people are avoided by venus dominant individuals. 

Venus moons and (taurus/libra) venuses are emotionally dependent on beauty and partnership. Their esteem is at its worse when they are lonely, isolated, and avoided by others.
