Yo yo yo ik you haven’t been doing Date Everything Gem AU for a while but last night I had a dream about it where it was like. Real and a part of Steven Universe. In my dream I was watching an episode and Johnny and Jean-Loo (as gems) were in it and they high-fived in the background of one scene for one second and I started freaking out because they made physical contact with one another (I ship them). When Pink Diamond was shattered, there was enough of her essance for but one more gem.
Any gem of the Rose name was sealed away for the crime of the one. Iron Roses, Desert Roses, Inca Rose. But, when deciding the last gem to make in the memory of Pink with her essance, White Diamond decreed that this gem would be called Roselite.
The beastly thing emerged, the only one of its kind. And it would stay that way. Blue Diamond decreed it would hold the weight of their anger and Rose Quartz. Basically, Roselite would be a stand in for everything the diamonds wanted to do to Rose Quartz.
It has been shattered and repaired, beaten, tortured, made a foolish servant - on but a chain and collar and hurt horribly as it served like a Pearl. Anything they could think of, by both Blue and Yellow, but mostly Blue.
Due to the powers of Blue and Yellow, it is permanently crying, and permanently alight with Yellow Diamond's lightning might.
Era three brings it to the Zoo, and other Pink Diamond structures like the Garden, lost and unsure what to with the burden of the memory of the dead but not Pink Diamond. The burden of all the torture they've endured.
All it can do is take the pain. It is its purpose afterall.
I LOVE ALL THESE COOL GEM OCS!!! I throw my hat into the ring, Goshenite! Goshenite can mimic voices and appearances of other Gems, and is used as an infiltrator and assassin. Her time behind various enemy lines (she's from an AU where Gem society had a massive schism resulting in multiple warring factions) has lent her more perspective than the average homeworlder, resulting in a budding sense of empathy for her victims. She's a very dreary Gem who has a hidden softness.
Her weapon is based off a Misericorde, which was used for mercy killings of wounded knights. Her gem, Goshenite, "is sometimes called the 'mother of all gemstones' because it can be transformed into other gems, such as emerald, morganite, or bixbite."
Thinking Copper has a different outfit depending on which "diamond representative" they are interacting with at the moment (what diamond that gem was under before era 3) to try to impress them with their loyalty to their personal diamond. Gems always find kinship to those who share a diamond- so it makes sense.
I also think they take a different "name" for each form. Their name IS Copper; that does not change. But they tell gems their name is different depending what diamond they were under.
White Diamond, once upon a time, controlled more than just Pink Diamond's old, broken Pearl.
There was a time, my dear gems, when every single colony had a gem controlled by White herself. Hand selected to make sure everything was running as intended. Sometimes, they were perfect. Worthy of White diamond's visage. Sometimes, they were defective. A warning as to what happened to those who were outside the purview of the empire. Enjoy the fact you could move yourself instead of just being a puppet.
Upon Earth, as the first Rose Quartz began to emerge, a defective Quartz emerged. Emerging sideways- making her skinny. She was also, literally, off color. Red versus the pink expected from a Rose Quartz. Her gem upon her upper back, rotated sideways as to only see the bevel of it. She was promptly taken into custody and bubbled. She would be shattered when there was more time.
When the rebellion began, and Rose Quartzes began to be rounded up for being wholly defective, she was selected among the hundreds. White saw her as a warning. Cease this at once and only be shattered. Continue and the fate that awaits you be unspeakable.
She became White's watchful eye on Earth.
She was the lense through which White saw the shattering of Pink.
When the final attack was planned, White released her hold on this Rose at the final moment. She was corrupted with the rest.
And healed with the rest.
A fear of one day being taken over again commands this gem. They act as perfect as they can. Not speaking- not even forming a mouth, not stepping out of line, just doing what "higher gems" command of them. They have selected the name "Copper" in this new era. As, Rose Quartzes are gems that are sealed away. No, no. They can't go back to being sealed away, now, can they? Their new name doesn't help, though, other gems do fear they will try to report things to the diamonds or think they are still under White's command. Even in this new era, on Earth. It makes this gem rather lonely.... But that's fine. Whatever keeps them safe.
The result of corruption and White's former control being a split of their coloration; white and red mixed with their eyes becoming the diamond emblem itself. Their uniform a mix of what they looked like when they emerged and what they looked like under White's command.
what are the eras in the date everything steven universe au?
the eras are the same as in show! Era 1 would be all four diamonds; white, blue, yellow, pink all together and collaborating. Era 2 is pink diamond has been "shattered" and there are only three diamonds with a resource crisis. Era 3 is the law of homeworld has changed for freedom and love, gem production and colonizarion has stopped, pink has been revealed as not shattered, etc.
Headcanon: Johnny has, on multiple occasions, considered popping a bubble just so he’d have someone to talk to
He would never! That would be.... treason! No, no, no- of course not- He would be shattered for even- no. He's already risking so much by singing to himself! What is he- a bard? Could you imagine! Him! A bard! No, no- He's fine. Really. Sure, it's been several revolutions since a new bubble but- it's not unheard of. He'll always have use and visitors as long as bubbles are still a containment method. He's fine! He is! He....
.... Augh! How dare he even- No no no- He should just turn himself in now. He's defective, he must be. Maybe he could get his coding adjusted - they do that still, right? Make him better. These gems are dangerous, after all! Criminals! He must be cracked to even- Ugh. He needs to count the bubbles again. That's always mind numb- er. Distracting. Yes.
