Personal and Work Conflict
Why do I feel so guilty calling off work?
I know so many people do this all the time, yet I had to get confirmation from my husband to make sure I was doing the right thing. I even have a valid excuse; my current cold is the worst I’ve had in a long time, with phlegm and coughing and a runny nose, it’s reminiscent of my school years.
Losing my voice, which I need to properly do my job, should be my first indicator that resting myself should be my main priority, but my need to not disappoint my coworkers and superiors with my absence weighs on me. I know the feeling of stress put on me because someone called off, but a point my husband made was by calling off, I’m preventing more call-offs in the future by not spreading my germs.
So am I the only one who feels this unnecessary guilt of putting my well-being ahead of my work priorities?
Results
So after seeing the doctor today, I find out I have an adjustment disorder.
I’ve never heard of this, but it makes me happy to know that it can be cured. I just want to be able to do the things I want without feeling like I have to walk through mud mentally.
There is hope for me yet.
My first day at the therapist
After 4 years, I'm going to see a psychologist about my anxiety and occasional depression.
I don't really know what to expect.
I just want this cloud to dissipate and be able to do normal things again.
