Gortash is the only person during Cae’s Bhaal era that he slept with and didn’t kill. In fact, Cae wouldn’t have slept with anyone until embracing Bhaal for fear of hurting them

I imagine the timeline went something like this > Cae became aware of Gortash as an ambitious political figure on the up and up, he wasn’t interested but kept his name and face in the back of his mind > Gortash, being the calculating man that he is, introduces himself after seeing Cae as a possible beneficial ally. He catches Cae during one of the wild benders him and Orin go on, he gains even more information about just who Cae actually is > Gortash attempts to professionally cozy up to Cae while Cae still isn’t interested in his advances. Cae decides he’s going to murder him and be done with it > One thing leads to another and they’re in the bedroom, but Gortash isn’t another one of Cae’s unsuspecting victims. He’s had experience in extreme torture and pain, which surprises Cae. Gortash gets to live > Cae becomes infatuated with him, pushing Gortash’s buttons whenever/however he can, he’s having the time of his life. Orin hates this > Gortash miraculously catches feelings somehow. It gives Cae The Ick(tm)
