There is a knock on the front door of the person’s current residence. When they open it, they’ll find a small basket on their doorstep, neatly bundled blankets held within and carefully wrapped around the precious egg they’ve been given. Taped to the side of the basket is a note.

“Greetings. Thank you for taking the time to send in a leaflet and for showing an interest in adopting one of the pokémon eggs currently waiting for a new home. I am pleased to confirm that your request has been accepted. So long as you keep the egg in a warm, safe place it should hatch within three days at the least and a week at the most. If you wish to adopt another egg (or pokémon) you are more than welcome to return to the Centre when time next permits it.

The lady hasn’t left the defenceless creature unattended, however. She waits nearby until she knows for certain that the egg safely indoors before taking her leave and returning to the Centre.

Kapi picked up the egg, curious. It was different from the eggs he had seen before. He took it inside to show Yaku what he had gotten. Good thing he got someone to help him with the paper work!

“…An Egg?” Yaku questioned, looking it over. He didn’t like the feel of it, it could have been some kind of monster. “And how did you get this?”

“I-I-I filled out a-a pa-pap-paper!” Kapi proudly hefted the basket. “I-I-I’ll t-take goo-ood c-care of it!”

He didn’t doubt Kapi would treat it well, he just had his reasonable concerns. “Did the paper tell you what it was going to be…? Will we even know what to feed it?”

Kapi shook his head no to the first question. “I-i-it suggested b-b-berries for f-f-foo-ood! A-a-and poffins! C-c-can Ais-su make p-poffins?”
