Hello! I've been wondering about Ryuji's schooling. Ever since he started his career, he hasn't gone to school? I mean, I want to know how Ryuji is as a school boy. 😆 May I know your thoughts about this? Thank you! 😊
Hiya! xD Thank you for the Ask because I had a great time walking down memory lane and compiling the information about Ryuji’s school days and childhood xDDDD
Ryuji actually started his career while he was still in high school, so at one point, he was studying and working at the same time.
He made his official debut into the entertainment industry in 2011 with “Kamen Rider Fourze”. At the time, he was 16 years old and was in Grade 12 (second year of high school). Because Ryuji is actually born in Sendai and lived his childhood years there (including his schooling years), he temporarily rented an apartment for a month in Tokyo during the course of the filming.
After he had finished filming Fourze, he decided to seriously pursue his acting career and moved to Tokyo permanently in April 2012. Or, more accurately, his father had asked him if he wanted to pursue his acting career, and when Ryuji gave an indication that he did indeed want to, his father rented an apartment for him in Tokyo. LOL!
Once it was decided that he would move to Tokyo on a long-term basis, arrangements were made for Ryuji to transfer to a school in Tokyo. The school was a high school which offered “home correspondence courses”; a type of high school with a more flexible schedule which catered for students who were working while they were studying. Along with his actual high school studies, Ryuji attended classes offered by his agency (which were voice projection and acting classes) and also participated in the productions, like the “Musical Nintama Rantarou”.
It is also interesting to note that during this time (right after he had moved to Tokyo and just before he auditioned for the “Musical Nintama Rantarou”), there was a period where Ryuji was a semi-NEET (the term referring to a young person who is “Not in Education, Employment, or Training”) for approximately half a year. He still attended classes (although he admitted to occasionally skipping his acting classes), but wasn’t particularly serious about finding an acting job.
It was also during this time when he landed a part-time job at a BBQ-type restaurant and it was that experience that actually acted as a trigger for him to becoming more serious about finding an actual acting job (because he had been willing to help with storage and other things, but was assigned to work at the hotplates and ovens, and he, quite literally, couldn’t stand the heat. He quit the job after two days LOL).
It is also worth noting that his first ever audition and first ever job was “Kamen Rider Fourze”, and when he decided to get serious about pursuing his career for real, he landed the role of Tamura Mikiemon in the “Musical Nintama Rantarou”.
In 2013, at the age of 18, he graduated high school. However, he missed out on the opportunity to attend his graduation ceremony due to scheduling conflicts with his work (something he mentioned during the “Gakuran Kageki Teiichi no Kuni” graduation ceremony, which was the first time he had experienced attending a graduation ceremony).
Because this is getting a little long (LOL), below the cut are just random bits of trivia that I know of Ryuji throughout his schooling years (and maybe a little from his childhood).
