Wait in the Wings latest doc. As a member of the patron and Docs to the future backer I've loved watching this come together.

You know I'm still peeved one of my high school social studies teachers made us do a project where I drew lettered and inked a whole children's book about the great depression and new deal with the cast of a webcomic I was reading and I never got it back. The teacher used all our books for some teaching class they were taking.

My hand writing is shit and I'm not much of an artist. Trying to write with a fractured wrist saw to that in 2nd grade. But I took the time to carefully do all that work. I penciled then inked it. I had a first draft and good thing i had some piece of all that work.

Reused the Children's book idea for a different project for class that did give me my work back. My little joke pages about stuff that happened in class got passed around.

So I decided to catch up on Linkara 2 weeks ago and have been watching a bunch of episodes I missed. Now every time I see a large Moon in fiction my brain goes. Look the moon is friken huge. Which is funny when you also are getting around to seeing Gear 5 Luffy in one piece. Which also has shots of the moon taking up most the background.

I think the current plot of Chess is the story of a nerdy Chess Referee turned Narrator with the help of a super talented ensemble only mega musicals give you trying to explain the crazy stuff that went down during several Championship chess marches during the cold war, without boring you to death.

A large segment of our regular streamgoers will be at Masquerade this weekend, and although I'm sadly unable to join them, I'm taking the opportunity to hang out with some folks.

Catching up on Yamato 2199 timeline. They keep making my boy Kodai a sad dormat. Good lord the guy at HQ that set up that mutiny in season 1 because his plan got shut down has had more growth and development.

You know didn't they add a therapist to this reboot. Oh right they keep writing her off of the show.

This is supposed to be an Assassin's creed AU dabble and I’m writing about toku shows and how they’d need another suit actor for any movie crossovers of Steel Samurai and Pink princess.  I even called Matt Engarde house wife bait. Why did fandom have to turn Edgeworth into such a Toku nut?  Why did the Kamen Rider Net movies  have to teach me about suit actors?  If these are shows where everyone is in  a suit anyway why didn’t they just replace Hammer.  It’s not like Toku hasn’t switched out non transphormed actors when one get’s to sick to do the role. This dabble was supposed to take place during Trials and Tribulations anyway.  I’m not even in the right game.  I also just figured out why John Darke (I started this post 10 years ago now I need to wiki John and see if i can figure out what I figured out back then.. have I posted this one before?)

I have a bad habit of building a lot of my Harlock Clan headcanon around Arcadia of my Youth.  Mostly that the Harlocks spent a lot of time a perfectly  respectable people. Piracy is something that tends to be taken up second sons of the family.

  Ignoring Saga for the most part the only other pirate I’ve come across is Franklin Harlock Jr.  In the first chapter of the manga they establish that Frank’s a bit of a mut, and German on his mother’s side.  

Might be Leiji had not yet decided he was fully German at that point in time.  I sort of wonder if he’s a bastard on top of everything else.  Dad’s name might have Frankin but maybe he wasn’t the Harlock, mom was. 

If you read to much into the pirate knight stuff the Harlock family would have been minor nobles.   Mostly I can see If you’re never going to inherit anything and therefore fewer obligations to the motherland a few of the Harlock boys have run off to have crazy adventures as pirates.  

I also wonder if Frank rolls back up to his family with Tochiro and Shinanora’s kid.

I can only assume that in Love Never Dies, The Phantom never mentioned what happened in the Final Lair scene.  And in the original London production Raoul’s blocked out how he had to get his ass saved.

I’d like to read some classic Vampirella someday because the summary of the #50 issue is amusing.  For some reason Vampirella is being all emo in a graveyard and runs into a dead body and a panicking lady who turns into a panther and attacks her.  This was do to a magic necklace which is torn off in the their fight causing the lady to change back.  Freaked out the lady runs into tragic and gets hit by a trolley.  

 Another murder happens in the Central City’s Wildwood Cemetery and since Vampi and friends have the necklace they figure some other thing that goes bump in the night must be lurking in the Cemetery.  So they decide to look at police records for clues and a report by the police commissioner Dolan dated 1940 catches their eyes. 

Back in the day some mad scientist was going poison the city’s drinking water with a suspended animation drug. A young PI Denny Colt stopped the plot but was found dead at the scene face down in a pool of the liquid drug.  Denny Colt was then buried in Wildwood and his tomb stone was in the establishing Vampirella emos out panel.  The group then assumes that maybe Colt wasn’t dead but in suspended animation and his body has been getting slowly eaten by creepy crawlies for 35 years and he finally awoke as a crazed monster.  

Vampirella and her boyfriend then go have some antics with alien panthers because at this point in time Vampirella is an alien from another planet. Comic books what can I say.

 Meanwhile her boyfriend's dad and their magician friend work the Denny Colt angle by staking out the cemetery.  They finally hear a scream an stop the murder of a woman but the creature escapes  into the sewers.  The comic relief  magician gives chase but soon lets out a screen only to return with the killer tied up.  It ends up being not the zombie of Denny Colt but some loser who was killing off his former female coworkers from his old job.

When asked how the hell did the comic relief magician managed to capture the murder?  He tells them that he had panicked and conjured some big guy in a blue mask.  The magician that turns to look at Colts gravestone to see a masked man in a suit waving at him.  He takes off running much to the confusion of the others.

The whole joke this is a sort of cross over with Will Eisner’s The Spirit.  The Vampirella gang are half right,  Colt was in suspended animation but he woke up a few days later and decided to become a masked vigilante.  So maybe Pendragon the Magician didn’t summon anything he just got saved by Central City’s resident masked hero on his way home.

 While always depicted as a non powered  detective who’s to say those chemicals didn’t slow his aging?  Hate to say it but Miller was on to something, to bad he ampped things up to 11.  I like the idea of accidentally immortal “The Spirit”, because the correct way to play it would be as not important at all.  

Update as I started writting this over a decade ago I did get to read the comic and I had a little Linkara in my head going “What is with cripes in Wildwood cemetery?” They have vast under ground space to build secret bases and hide space ships.  Don’t get me started on the famous skylight to nowhere, which is oddly absent in this.

Still really disturbed by the first case of Spirit of Justice

Albi is 9 and they are charging him with treason and they recommend the death penalty.  Again this is a 9 year old boy.  I had to like put the DS down it was very disturbing to me.

I might be an odd fan out but I like anime version sof Captain Harlock much better the one written in the Manga.  Mostly I think everyone accept Leji Matsumto has written interesting about Harlock and Tochrio’s friendship.  Matsumoto’s take is they are friends because it’s destiny, which is the most boring reason for a friendship.  Destiny does not suit a friendship where one party found a way to remain with the other even in death.  

Also the whole crew got backstories that were thoughtfull.

Why no lift? Riddle was perfectly capable of lifting and holding Patti Murin and her 15 pound ball gown during love is an open door. Stop reducing what the pinnacle's need to do dance wise and get more Raoul's who can dance and look like they enjoy dancing in masquerade.

Christine is so lucky getting lost in the crowd part of masquerade isn't a plot to steal her rich boyfriend who can dance by the other girls.
