"Yeah, I heard about that…" The Faunus nodded, gaze clouding over again with distress and confusion. She had no idea how he found out — As far as she knew, nobody else in all of Beacon knew except for her team. And they would never betray her.

In the same instant, her eyes flickered, trying to catch the other’s face. It was funny, seeing somebody as robust as her partner looking any kind of embarrassed.

"You’re the best, you know that?" She muttered quietly, the dark weight on her chest not quite so heavy anymore, knowing that she had someone like that around again. Somebody she could rely on. That didn’t happen very often.

"Bah, I'm not that great but uh...thanks...!" Yang smiles sheepishly, Blake can vaguely see bruising around her knuckles as she rubbed the back of her neck.  "But ya know who is really great?" with a big doofy grin, she cupped Blake's face in her hands and placed an even bigger kiss on her forehead,"You are!"

"What? No no, Blake…" her hands stopped. Forcing herself up despite the weight on her chest, she looked down at the confused girl, straight in the eyes with her brows furrowed.  "Don’t every apologize. You did nothing wrong. I should be the one saying sorry, not you. I wish I could say sorry for every dumb human on the planet" she huffed,"You know what, I’ll do it anyway. I am sorry for every dumb human for making you and every faunus do what they had to do" Yang smiled victoriously, as if she were successful. She knew better than that but it was better than nothing in her eyes.

The cat grumbled in complaint when she shifted, put some distance between them so they could look at eachother. She didn’t need anyone’s pity, didn’t really want it either…But Yang was Yang, and she was ever the character.

"Well gee, that makes me feel so much better." She rolled her eyes. "Maybe I can finally try and make friends with Cardin now!" Blake snorted, pushing up against her again, nuzzled under her chin, trying to soak up whatever last little bits of warmth she could, then finally, almost painfully so, she let go, sitting up straighter with her legs crisscrossed underneath her, scratching at the back of her neck. "Heh…But seriously…Thanks…"

Yang huffed, carefully sitting up on her arms she smiled slightly,"...I don't know what else to tell you...but things will get better one day. And you know what?"  She coughed, looking the other direction for a moment,"I uh....kinda took care of Cardin anyway..." she mumbled,"....I overheard him talking...uh saying stuff about you..." She fell silent, the entire school knew he was in the medical wing for a broken nose, shattered jaw and possibly neck injuries, as well as some odd burns around his face also. No one knew why.

Of course it was Yang. it was ALWAYS Yang.

"Yes, I’m fine." She hissed, voice only a twinge less threatening. Humans were so dull and unawares, they couldn’t help it. But no doubt the other Faunus would eventually start creeping around…It only got worse the more ‘mature’ she got.

Still, she didn’t budge an inch from her spot tangled up in the branches, eyes glowering at her partner from through the few scruffy patches of leaves.

"I just…It was a little crowded in there, that’s all…" It wasn’t a total lie — But what else was she supposed to say? ‘Oh, hey, I’m in heat. You better leave me alone or I might try to get in your pants.’ Yeah, right. She didn’t even have a mother around to explain what was going on the first time it happened, so how could she understand?

Yang's eyebrow rose, looking up suspiciously at the blob of black and white in the tree.  "....yeah that makes sense and all but I don't believe you" she huffs, crossing her arms defiantly. Making it clear she wasn't moving,"C'mon Blake, we're buds! Team mates and all that jazz. If there's something wrong then let us know so we know not to step on your tail!" 

The moment the words left her lips there was regret.  "Oh shit...th-that's not what I meant! TOTAL FIGURE OF SPEECH..godI'manidiot..."Yang groaned, cupping her face in her hands in embarrassment.

Finding the lack shrinking away from her touch as a silent motion of consent, Yang gently dragged her fingers through the inky mass of black strands. It had been awhile since she had to be a figure of comfort. Not since Ruby got over her nightmares, though she still had them and refused to tell Yang. 

She knew of course, but Ruby felt like she needed to grow up and was in no need of big sister coddling. 

Though it had been awhile, small touches seemed to have worked in the past and they seemed to be working now. 

"…you’ve been through a lot huh?" she mumbled lightly against her forehead," I can’t even imagine what it must have been like…"

She could feel tense muscles in her shoulders eventually relax, her grip not quite so rough and desperate, and the start of a calmed purr tickled in her throat.

The last time anyone had done this was her mother, after Blake was born all the way up to before she died. But Yang was kind of elected team mom.

"It was never easy. Even before the White Fang’s new leader stepped up." The cat agreed quietly, eyes closed and brows knit, giving a heavy sigh.

She could never understand why humans acted the way they did…What made them think they were so much better than the Faunus that they could enslave them? Persecute and ridicule them without even knowing what sorts of wonderous accomplishments they had made? She felt herself tense up again, reprimand herself. No — Not all humans were like that. “…I’m sorry.”

"What? No no, Blake..." her hands stopped. She thought she had at least three more days.

Three more days to come up with SOME WAY to get out of it.

But of course, you couldn’t really deny something like this, and by the time lunch came around, she was a squirming, nervous wreck, every sense thrown into overdrive. Everything was too loud, too bright, the thick scents of the other students hanging around her like a heavy coat.

Finally, she couldn’t take it anymore, excusing herself and vanishing out to the courtyard and up into a tree. She just needed some air…Clear her head.

Still, apparently someone was too thick to leave well enough alone, following her out here. Ears twitching wildly under the restraint of her bow, amber eyes only offered a spare glance down, a threatening rumble in her chest.

"Go away.”

With nothing but a small mumble, Blake was out the door of the main hall. Leaving her team mates rather confused and worried.  "Is....Blake ok?" Ruby asked gently, the remainder of her team just shook their heads.  "I don't know she's been antsy all morning..." Weiss commented softly, her words trailed off, gently taking a sip of tea while her eyes wandered. Yang noticed it also. Other faunus students acting strange or giggling lightly to themselves. More so than usual.  With a huff, Ruby stood up, "I'm gonna check up on her!" but she was quickly forced back down by a strong hand on her shoulder.  Yang stood up instead and gave the girl a small pat on the head, "Nah it's ok I got this, you finish your food sis. You'll get grumpy later if you don't work on a full stomach"  Before she could complain, not that she was going to, those pancakes were particularly delicious today, Yang set out to the courtyard where she secretly watched the girl run off too.  It didn't take too long to find her, a casual stroll past a few trees and eventually one tree growled at her. She stopped, surprised at the tone of voice.  "Uh...hey...it's me..." Yang carefully stepped closer to the trunk of the tree and looked up, searching past the weave of branches for the source of the voice.  "Are you ok?"

"Mmn…" The blonde’s voice reverberating in her chest, in her ear, made her smile a bit, that tinge of sleep still evident and just helping settle her even more.

"I had a nightmare." She muttered, amber eyes cutting to the far wall so she couldn’t see any flicker of disappointment if there was one. They were practically adults here for Dust’s sake — Hunters don’t get nightmares.

"I was a child back at one of the Faunus rallies…In the middle of all the fighting…"

Shaking her head, her breath caught in her throat at the light touch, tipped ear flicking against her knuckle. If it was anyone else, under any other different sort of circumstance, that would be the end of it. Period. But this was Yang she was clinging to like a helpless kitten…She wouldn’t hurt her…And so she stayed still, waiting for something to happen.

She was never one for showing any kind of physical affection, or want there-of. It was just never a major part of her life, not after her mother died and the last friendly touch she could remember anymore was a pat on the shoulder for a job well done after pulling off a heist. She wasn’t even disappointed that she wasn’t holding her back. She didn’t have to. She could even move if she wanted.

The Faunus still didn’t say a word, just kept herself tucked into the sought-out safety of her partner…Her friend, she corrected. Her scent was thick, calming, something like a campfire and summertime. Good things.

She could lie to her. She should lie to her. But she found herself saying “No.” anyways. Yang was too good, too honest of a person for her to try and make up stories.

"Well....I gathered that much..." she sighed, straining to look down but the girl was tightly bound to the curves of her body. 

Yang huffed, her head flopping back on the pillow. Taking a moment to relax at this random occurrence, she took a deep breath. Blake's ear twitched as she exhaled, warm soft air breezed against her fur. 

"Alright then...uh...do you...wanna talk about it?" she mumbled though already knew the answer. 

Biting her lip, glancing down to make sure the door was locked, who knows what her crazy sister or even Weiss would say if they found them like this. Not that she cared, but it was stress Blake didn't need. The area was secure, and the time was right to finally reach up and just gently brush her index finger along her ears.

The last nudge was just enough to break her out of her dream, with a small snort she grumbled and blinked herself awake in a hurry.

"Huh wha….c’mon…." she yawned," that was an awesome dream about lizard men an-"  Yang’s eyes finally fell into focus, finding Blake staring straight at her. She blinked once more, remembering that she followed her here and the other were away. She sat up quickly, immediately sobering up and alert.  "What’s wrong? Did something happen? Do I need to put pants on for it?"

She didn’t vocally answer, just shook her head, still looking at her teammate.

This had been happening more and more often lately, memories of whips and beatings and harsh words than stang almost as badly as any weapon.

Memories of the White Fang. Of Adam. Where was he now? What was he doing? …Who was she kidding — She knew exactly what he was doing. Looking for her, no doubt, wanting to drag her back to that neverending cycle of crime and false hope. No matter how far she ran, she just couldn’t escape.

Finally, she didn’t know what to do anymore, had to force herself up into the other girl’s bunk and settle uncomfortably in her lap, arms around her neck and face hid away in the dip of her shoulder, trying not to shake.

Yang blinked once and with beautiful cat like grace, Blake silently jumped up, over the bed and into her lap without making a single squeak to the bunk. Before she knew it she was flat back on the bed with the girl forming alongside her body. She fit rather nicely, though could live without the knee in her gut.  "U-uh...." she gulped, fighting the urge to twitch her shoulder. Her warm breath against her neck was foreign, this was probably the worst time to discover how sensitive and/or ticklish she is there.  Despite the discomfort, Blake seemed relaxed. She could deal with a bit of inconvenience for her,  "H-hey are....are you ok?"

Belladonna bolted upright in her bunk, coated in a cold sweat and nearly cracking her skull against the wooden frame of her partner’s bed above her.

Looking around, chest heaving and heart racing, it took too long to calm down.

She fell asleep. That’s right. Right after lunch, she’d gotten a headache and went to take a short nap. That explains why Weiss and Ruby weren’t in the dorm with her. And — An obnoxious snore, again from up over her head. Taking a deep breath to chase away the last of her fears, she got to her feet.

Of course. She must have followed her when she heard she wasn’t feeling well, then passed out too. The blonde was sprawled out in her own bed, lost in dreams, and a hand reached out to try and rouse her gently.

"…Yang?"

Yang mumbled lightly, rolling over on her side she buried her face in her pillow. Mouth open, drooling slightly, content. She never understood why people didn’t take afternoon cat naps more often. The world would be a much happier place. 

Upon being poked at, she grumbled, aimlessly swatting the hand away.  "Zzzzzzzzz…..ruby no…." she yawned, pulling the pillow over her head she continued to mumbled beneath it in her sleep," no more lizards, they dont fit in the cupboard"

"Tch…I’m not Ruby, or lizards." The cat grumbled in mild irritation, and before she could stop herself, nudged her again. "Wake up." Her voice wavered a bit, somewhere halfway between a plea and a desperate order.

She wasn’t even sure why she wanted her awake, she just…

She needed somebody, and it’s not like she could go to either of her other two teammates. Ruby wouldn’t know what to do and Weiss would be so frigid about it whether she’d hear her out with an explanation or not. “Yang.” She repeated, bow layed back flat against the top of her head.

At the sight of her sister, Yang’s eyes brightened up. If it were anyone else, they would be promptly beaten down for interrupting her training time. But for her, she ran up to meet her. 

"Yeah I hear ya, can’t even open a window in there without Weiss throwin a fit" she chuckles lightly, however it dies quickly, realizing the redness around Ruby’s eyes and puffy cheeks.  "…..hey are you alright?"

"H-Huh?" She hastily paws at her face a bit more, hiding the light sniffle with another cheap laugh. "Yeah, I’m fine. I think I’m coming down with a cold or something. You know how it is… flu season. Hot flashes and cold flashes and… uh… in between flashes."

Great excuse. Truly remarkable.

Yang's eyes narrow,"Flashes huh, puh-lease. You can do better than that. Sick Ruby doesn't leave the bed, whether or not it's stuffy. C'mon you can tell yer big sis" she smiles lightly, patting the smaller girl on the head.
