Eyelids lowering, he glanced off to the side, scanning his sharp gaze over the ruins of the Soul Society. Going back and forth with her wasn’t going to solve anything, it would only end up driving them apart and sending them in different directions. So, he blew out a sigh and turned towards her fully.

“I would be able to concentrate if you kept your voice down, fukutaichou. We won’t get anywhere if we argue.” Tao came to a stop, waiting for her to do the same beside him, “Plan. Do you have any ideas?”

“Was I loud?” Not that it particularly bothered her that he was a bit more serious than she preferred. “My apologies then,” Maiya watched him carefully - stopping a foot behind him now, “I’m only saying it would be better than roaming around without any type of protection.”

Her hand rested lazily upon the hilt of her sword, shoulders relaxed. “Not an idea, per se. I’m probably not as fast as you,” Maiya offered a small smile towards him, “You don’t think it’d be smarter to split up rather than group together? What if someone locks in on our location since we’ve been together for so long?”

He really didn’t understand how he ended up with her. Not that Maiya was a bad person to end up with, but–

“I already told you. I don’t know where we’re going. We just have to keep moving.”

They’d managed to find each other out of sheer coincidence. While she’d lost track of Umeko, he’d lost track of his Commander. Maiya could only follow him in silence for a couple minutes before the questions started springing up. The ruins around them both were a maze, and she soon realized they weren’t really getting anywhere.

“We’ve been moving for hours now! I’m telling you, we’ve passed this same rock before!” It was probably a piece of the building that used to be in the area, but that was beside the point. “We need to come up with a plan. We’ll be caught off guard this way.”
