OTAKON 2014 | Legend of Zelda
Cosplayers: Tell us who you are and we’ll add you!
I don't know the cosplayers from the other photos, but in the last photo they are:
- Blue tunic Link: Aaron from Fiberglassblades.com - Fi: hotarulilac.tumblr.com - Dark Link: yaphi1.tumblr.com
Step 1- find a high quality vid to grab screen shots from
Step 2- photoshop the screen shots together
Step 3- nab some parts that the video didn’t have (aka pendants)
Step 4- Photoshop the pieces together to get a gander at what the final product will look like
People do amazing things.
ayyoooo
Here are some photos my friend took from Otakon’s Legend of Zelda photoshoot. Enjoy!
Commission complete: Rikku's blades from Final Fantasy X See facebook.com/YaphiCosplay for progress photos.
question about your resin glaze tutorial, i have easy cast and i was wondering if that would suffice as a good substitute or do you only recommend super glaze?
I've tried Easy Cast before. It seems similar, but it's weaker and it dries kind of sticky. If you already have Easy Cast, you can try it on a test piece if you'd like. If it works the way you want it to, great! If not, your prop is still safe.
Hey there, so your resin tutorial is really handy as you might well know and I'm making space dandy's red gun. Basically its a round cylinder spacey gun. I was considering trying the resin but since its not flat would it work do you think?
Thanks! Since that prop is not flat, using the method in my tutorial would create too much of a risk of messing up the prop. If you really want resin on it, you might try brushing on a thin layer with a brush or other object that you don't plan on using again. Before you do that, test it on something else like an empty bottle or can just to make sure it works the way you want it to.Definitely make sure your work area is covered, and don't get the stuff on your hands. I did, and it wouldn't wash off my hands for a day or so.
I saw you dark link cosplay a and they are great can you give me some advice for doing one and to get the sword and shield perfect. I'm also thinking of making the shield and maybe the sword out of actual metal cause I can get it from my dad's work and craft it there. Thanks for the advice and I followed you. :)
Advice about the swords and shield:Red Ordon Sword:If you look through the photo albums on my cosplay page, you'll find my progress photos. https://www.facebook.com/YaphiCosplayIf I were redoing it, I'd do it differently. For starters, I would have used a belt sander, since that makes everything faster.
Red Master Sword:I used my friend's molds to put this sword together. It was a lot of work for me, but he's the reason it looks good. (He 3d modeled the original, printed the pieces, and put them together.)
Dark Hylian Shield:My friend from fiberglassblades.com made that. I just modified the back to make it fit me better. He used a foam core with resin on the outside.General advice:If you're using materials like resin, the sanding will take a lot of time, but the more you sand, the better it will look. For metal, I don't have answers since I haven't worked with it. If you use resin and foam, make sure the kind of resin you get won't eat through the kind of foam you get (this is something that can be googled).
KATY, Texas (KRON) -- Who doubts the power of the master sword of Zelda? Certainly not a Texas man who is hospitalized in serious condition after he was stabbed by a replica sword fashioned after the video game. Eugene Thompson tells police he got into an argument with his girlfriend who then called her ex-husband…
This is really irresponsible journalism. Here's what's wrong with it: 1. They stole a photo from FiberglassBlades.com and put their own watermark on it. 2. They blamed the wrong sword. By using this photo, they blamed these particular replicas for being dangerous when in fact these swords are safe plastic, so the replica used was definitely a different one from a different source. http://news.kron4.com/news/47139/

Will you be at Katsucon?
Yes I will!
Keep in mind that these may not apply to all cosplays, and that its not mandatory at all! Skill level should never hold you back from cosplaying what you want to, just do your best. But if you are interested, here are some quick tips on taking your cosplay to another level :)
That moment when I almost clicked on number 6 to see if I could get any ideas from it... LOLOLOL

A really cool Legend of Zelda pic I got of some cosplayers at Otakon! Tell me if you know any of these guys so I can link them! This was really really cool and I had enough light for a quality picture
