maybe secretly they try to learn the phrases and decode them. the first time a disciple says fuck or references something shang qinghua laughs and ask them a question they don’t understand (are you a transmigrator?). he becomes said but is pleased by their effort to try to learn.

he recovers slightly from his depression and smiles more seeing his disciples try to learn english. at some point they understand his mutterings about the plot and mobei. somehow this leads to them believing he is a god and is trying to court mobei. they’ll have to try to help.

shen jiu sucks at hiding his emotions. if he gets flustered or angry he’s suddenly a bright red tomato. when sad, big teary globs roll down his cheeks. not wanting to appear weak he uses his fan to cover his face when he can’t control his emotions. this all ends with his fan being broken while he’s surrounded by people and unable to hide his expressions. he could be at his trial and saying he killed liu qingge while his tears are falling. everyone is just confused and shocked as they watch him try to hide his face.
