born and raised in providence, her fam is filthy rich, old money (from her mother’s side) she has an old brother (he attended luxor as well but atm he’s in UCLA).
she has bunch of cousins. all nahmias family and her cousins attended brown. it’s a family tradition at this point. besides when your grandparents are huge donors, it’s easy to get in WINK WINK
but her older brother josh changed his mind last minute and went against his fam wishes and chose to attend UCLA instead. yas followed his suit and simply raised the argument; if he gets to attend ucla, why can’t i stay in luxor. after months of intense arguments, her family gave in. BUT THEY ARE NOT HAPPY ABOUT THEIR KIDS’ DECISION BY ANY MEANS.
her fam (her mother’s side) owns department store chain think barneys before bankruptcy, the company also has cheaper versions like macy’s and all that
her father’s side is new money rich. they have a huge ass company, consisting of diversified businesses in the fields of media, entertainment and cruises. (YEAH IT’S BASICALLY WAYSTAR ROYCO WHAT ABOUT IT?)
her father is fearsome, objectively a bad person, but he very obviously loves his wife and his kids (!). his critiques of his children can be harsh, although he does not go hard on yas as hard as he goes on josh.
the words you can use to describe nahmias fam; family, fortune, envy, jealousy, privilege, passed on legacy, secret, sabotage, borderline felony, selfish
she is very close to her brother, probably he is her favorite person. so this rift between him and their family bothers her the most. both siblings lacked a certain common sense from their privileged upbringing and were prone to self-centered behavior, it’s safe to say yasmine is more understanding.

“I mean,” Libby thought for a moment. “We probably could. Like, if they never got any attention, would they really keep on exposing people? But half the students here are stupidly obsessed with petty gossip, so that’s never gonna fucking happen.”
“How can we stop people from paying attention to them, though?” It sounded like a good idea, Yas was all for it, but knowing her peers and people’s passion for gossip, it probably wouldn’t work. “Yeah, exactly. What I don’t get is, don’t they know they will be targeted eventually, too? No one is safe here.”
“So they lie to you?” He teased playfully. He always knew the other to be a good and supportive person. “Hmm, can I see?” He asked prompting the other to show him their work. “A collage of what?”
“No, they do not,” she scoffed at his words, rolling her eyes. She knew what he was doing, she didn’t know him that well, hell she didn’t know him at all, but she’s heard enough stories about Axel from her brother. “It’s terrible, and I am not an artist.” And yet, that did not stop her from grabbing her iPad. “So keep that in mind before judging me, okay?” Yas said as she started scrolling down her photo gallery, chuckling.
“Do you need something?” Viktor asks, sending a glance over their shoulder at the person whose eyes had been lingering on them for awhile. They were used to being stared at on stage or in the classroom but outside of school, it bothered them more than they’d let on. Perhaps it was because staring had always triggered bullying when they were younger or maybe there was another reason that they didn’t wanted to think about at the moment.
All they wanted to do was finish this essay and go home to a warm shower and consume enough tea to last them an entire year.

Panicking, Yas could’ve sworn she’d checked everywhere, and her bag was still missing. She cleared her throat quietly as she looked at them. “I was wondering if you have seen a baby blue tote bag around here? I can’t find it anywhere.”
“Yeah, your energy really puts a damper on my creativity.” He said with a chuckle. “You’re too distracting.” He said with a smirk. “What’re you supposed to be working on?” He asked eyeing the other down.
“People usually say I have the opposite effect,” she teased. Although it was partially true, Yas was all about supporting the people, to a fault even, some could say she was more of an enabler than a supporter. She rolled her eyes at Axel’s next words, scoffing quietly. “I am supposed to be working on this one collage. It’s for a class. I am not an artist.”
who: @luxorstarters
where: some beach near campus
when: first/second week of jan, early morning
The good thing about being at this campus was how close it was to the beach. Sav loved to sleep in - it was one of the most reliable things about her. But when she was this close to waves like the ones in New Zealand, it rarely mattered what she had done the night before - how late she had been up, how hungover it was going to make her, whether or not she had really slept at all - she would be there as soon as the swells were going to be good. That morning was no exception. In fact, the crazier campus was, and it had gotten crazy since New Year’s and the press that had been surrounding the story about the party….the more likely she would be in the ocean surfing.
She was taking a break, lounging on her towel with her legs stretched out, her hair still wet when a familiar face approached, Sav just lifting her chin in a lackadaisical greeting as they sat next to her. “You’re here early,” she quipped, unable to help but be in a good mood while she was at the beach, falling into silence for a moment as she looked back out at the water. “I think I might sign up for a surfing competition before we leave. Might as well, you know.”
When one of her friends told Yasmine that they were going to meet her at the beach, she hoped it was only a joke but turns out, it wasn’t. She insisted on staying on the campus, but her friend was adamant about meeting there. She’s arrived, ten minutes later than she was supposed to, but her friend wasn’t there. Furthermore, she sent them a series of text messages, but all of them went unanswered. Great, she thought to herself. Her friend either overslept or too hangover to show up.
Just when she was about to go back to the campus, she’d noticed a familiar face. Hoping, maybe Sav has seen her friend, she walked toward her. “Hey,” she said with a smile, sitting next to her. “That’s a good idea, you should do it. It would be a nice distraction.”
“Well, if it helps, I think your brother’s a pretty cool.” She said, then again Maia was highly bias with Josh given her own experience with him. Even though the compliment did seem quite normal, it was quite a gesture for Maia to compliment someone who wasn’t even there. Let alone give a compliment in general, wasn’t exactly all that common. Raising her brows at Yas’ words, Maia let out a hopeless sigh of sorts. “That’s how I know the students here are bad, when I’m receiving compliments like this.” She joked, although she meant every word with a slight breathy laugh.
“That’s nice to hear.” It was a rare moment, people rarely called her brother cool, so Yasmine definitely cherished this moment. “Oh, come on,” she started with a sigh, tilting her head to the side. “I would still think the same even when we weren’t surrounded by assholes. You are genuinely a good person. I mean it.”
– So, I have a problem. And before you say it looks like a me problem, listen. – Nico commented to the person by his side with a frown, while he put aside the papers he held. – I wanna do a monologue on the streets later this week, but there’s a singing part, and like… I can’t sing. I’m as tune deaf as one can come, and I need a singer. Do you know anyone who’s a good singer?
@luxorstarters
“God, you are not going to ask me to sing, are you?” The horror in Yasmine’s eyes was evident. She was relieved as he continued, at least he didn’t ask her to do it. “We can ask one of those drama club kids. I am not very close to them, but I am sure they wouldn’t miss any chance to perform.”
Axel sat in the art room, drinking a coffee and trying to decide what to make out of the clay in front of him. He turned to the person sitting closest to him and made a sour face, “I’m having the worst artists block right now.” He said honestly. Usually at this point he could envision something sitting in front of him, but right now it was just a lump of clay. “Are you working on anything?” He asked the other person, hopeful to spark some kind of an idea or inspiration.
“The last time I have seen you, you were having another artist's block.” Yasmine vaguely remembered the conversation, she was in a rush, it didn’t help that Josh was being all cryptic too. “It almost feels like my energy causes it,” she said jokingly, letting out a chuckle. “And no, not yet. I am supposed to be working on something, but I keep procrastinating.”
Nate’s eyebrows shot up on his forehead, stopping in his tracks as he watched Yas, realizing immediately that he had botched his approach on that. “Uh, yeah. I do. The last thing I want is to get some girl pregnant. I can’t afford to just pay to make it go away,” he pointed out, gaze meeting Yasmine’s with a hard glare, before his head tipped back, letting out a puff of air, his mind racing as he tried to figure out how to course correct here. “It is my concern when a girl I was hooking up with got chlamydia from him,” he finally said, immediately feeling bad for dragging Morgan into this, but knowing he had to. Or rather, not wanting to risk what would happen if he didn’t.
“I’m sorry, I…meant it as a good thing,” Nate said, holding his hands out slightly, looking at her with the best pleading expression he could muster up. “You can insult my family all you like. God knows I do it. I just meant…You don’t seem like the type of person who would stab the rest of us in the back. I mean, I can’t even tell you how many families like yours have fucked me over, Yasmine,” he continued, the words coming out brash, abrupt. He had no idea how to convince her how to see his side of things, not when it was so obvious to him.
“Just pay to make it go away? Who do you think we are? The Sopranos? My brother did not pay anyone to get an abortion. There wasn’t even a baby, it was just a scare but that does not even matter because he has every right to choose his future over a baby.” Yas has gotten defensive real quick, rightfully so. “Didn’t you just say you always use condoms? You shouldn’t worry about any STIs, then.” God, why are we even discussing this? she thought to herself. But she hated the most was this was entirely her fault. She was the one who let Nate get closer to her, she was the one who was stupid enough to see the best in people.
“How is that a good thing? You have just insulted my brother. He’s the most important person in my life,” she said angrily, rolling her eyes as he continued. “Well, you might hate your family but I love mine. And you don’t know anything about mine, so shut up. Okay? Just shut up.”
“Trust me, I get that.” Maia said, recalling the rare times she ever snapped at people at this school. Even though her snapping was usually with her fists rather than with her words. Something she was trying to improve on. At the mention of her brother, Maia realized what Yas meant by her last name. “Oh… I see.” She said. “You think your brother is the reason.” She said out loud as a sort of confirmation. “Probably not.” She said before letting out a sigh. “Doesn’t matter, you got what you needed.”
“I have been told several times that he is the reason.” It didn’t matter, though. The whole world could hate on Josh as much as they wanted, it wouldn’t change a thing for Yasmine, she would be there for him no matter what. “Which is, whatever, really,” she trailed off, pressing her lips together. “You are right, it doesn’t matter at all. It’s nice to see people like you still exist. You are a helpful person, that’s a rare quality around here.”
“If you’re gonna start talking about whatever shit got said over the loudspeaker last night,” Libby said with a bored expression, “I really could not care less. Actually, it’s kind of alarming how in thrall everyone is to this faceless group telling you shit about the people around you without any proof. Very culty. No thank you.”
“No. I wasn’t going to talk about last night,” she said with a sigh. “Trust me, I am with you there. I am as appalled as you are. If only we could do something to stop this madness.”
“Yeah, sure.” Maia said in response to another show of gratitude from Yas, thinking to herself that it really wasn’t a big deal. It’s not like she saved her life. Then again, giving her change was the least she could do after what her brother had done for Maia. “I guess I was just trying to be polite about it. Asshole is the more accurate word.” At the mention of her last name, Maia gave Yas a puzzled look, on the verge of it being humorous. “I doubt it’s your last name, Yas.” She said with a slight laugh. “The person you asked for change, did you… maybe make an enemy of them from before?”
“You know me, I don’t like insulting people but sometimes, people literally ask for it.” Even her kindness had its limits. “You don’t think that because you are one of the very few people who actually like my brother,” she trailed off, thinking about the conversation she’d had with Nate but she chose not to bring it up. “No?” She wasn’t the type who would push people’s buttons for no reason, she didn’t seek confrontation either. “I mean... I don’t think so.”
Nate let out a snort of air at her question, puffing his cheeks out while he tried to figure out how to answer that without saying….well, yes. He wasn’t entirely convinced she wasn’t, either, though he had to admit that it hadn’t been as horrible trying to woo her as he had originally anticipated. “Nah,” he said dismissively after what was perhaps a beat too long, shrugging up his shoulders with the bit of a glance towards her out of the corner of her eyes. “Just with your brother and all, you know,” Nate murmured, knowing he wouldn’t have a better opportunity than this to bring it up. “And with the almost knocking girls up and actually giving girls chlamydia, it’s just….I expected you to immediately have it out for me. Or people like me, you know?” he said. While he didn’t know how much of the Josh stuff was true, it was all too easy to believe, from what he knew of the douchebag. And he had assumed Yasmine would immediately be the type of person he hated, looking to do harm and nothing else. “But you actually seem….I don’t know, reasonable, I guess,” he said with a small side smirk, a look that could usually make girl’s swoon, though considering the insults he had just dropped on Yas, he wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t work. Nate bumped his shoulder against hers lightly as they were walking, hoping he could just continue the conversation smoothly. “If you think I’m cool though, clearly you aren’t too much like your family,” he added, trying to joke, the the sentence may have come out with just a hint of bitterness seeping into it.
Yasmine’s demeanor immediately changed at the mention of her brother, her body got tense, she pressed her lips into a thin line as Nate continued. She tried to stay quiet and waited for him to finish, immediately distancing herself from him after the shoulder bump. “You know, what I don’t get,” Yas stopped walking, letting out a loud scoff. “People acting like Joshua was the only guy who didn’t use condoms. Like, can you seriously say you use protection every time you have sex? And that's not even the point here. What my brother does is not your concern, it has never been." She let out the breath she'd been holding and continued. "Almost knocking girls up... Why are you all acting like that was on purpose? He didn't want that to happen. Ever." Not that Nate needed an explanation or anyone for that matter.
“How dare you?” Her eyes widened, still angry, still defensive. “You can’t talk shit about my brother to me. How would you feel if I started insulting your family? You wouldn’t like it probably. So what makes you think this is okay? Because let me tell you, it’s fucking not.”
Nate slowly raised his eyebrows on his forehead, an actual hint of amusement crossing his face as she answered. Whether it was with her or at her, he’d never say. “Of course,” he said, reaching back to grab his extra helmet and holding it out towards Yasmine with a half-smirk, one side of his mouth quirking upwards. He waited for her to take it, double checking to make sure it was snug on her head before got onto the bike, helping her on behind him and kicking it into gear to take them on a drive, winding through the roads to lead them to the beach. He eventually parked the motorcycle, helping Yas off so they could meander along the shore, Nate falling silent beside her, hands shoved into his front pockets as his objective for asking her out loomed over him. “You’re…cooler than I would’ve imagined,” he said abruptly, studiously keeping his gaze trained ahead rather than looking down at her. “Like, actually talking to you or whatever.”
“Thank you,” she smiled as she took the helmet and wore it. Good thing she didn’t try to give herself any curls because the helmet would ruin her hair. And knowing how vain she was, she would absolutely have an issue with that. She hopped on the bike carefully and wrapped her arms around him, oddly enjoying the whole ride more than she thought. Fixing the ends of her hair as they walked, she looked over him after his words and smiled. “Did you think I was an awful person?” That seemed like a common opinion on Yas, while she didn’t do anything to anyone, she supposed she was guilty by association. It’s the last name, she could swear. “I didn’t have any negative opinion on you but you turned out to be way cooler, too. More open minded, at least,” she said with a shrug, chuckling. “I really am glad we both didn’t let our first impressions cloud our judgments. I like talking to you.”
Kenzie looked down at her jean shorts before throwing her head back and laughing. “Well, I guess I was close to giving everyone a free show,” she said, not embarrassed by the predicament. She pulled the zipper back up before grinning over at Yasmine. “Hey, I am sure this campus would love me to walk around without pants on, but I don’t think the teachers would approve.”
“It was just your underwear but I thought you would want to know,” Yas said with a shrug, letting out a chuckle. She would be quite embarrassed if she’d been in the same situation but it seemed like Kenzie wasn’t phased by it. Good for her, she thought to herself. “Considering all the pervs we have on this campus, I am sure they would have a field day.”
