That whole scene? At the end? That changed my brain chemistry and I mean it literally.
First of. I kin Pomni. A lot. The way she handles people, how she gently tries to help. Her gentle kindness that she doesnt force on anyone who doesn't want it (also read: doesn't force it on someone she doesnt know well/has yet to care deeply for.)
Queue Jax. That asshole façade thats been cracking ever since episode one. It shattered, and I could read every emotion he felt in that moment like an open book. I understood his actions so deeply and I didn't understand why or how I understood.
(With the help of a bestie, and a 2 hour emotional convo in the middle of the night later, I understood that both Pomni and Jax are two sides of whatever my emotions are lol, not the point tho)
That argument. I cant stop thinking about it. The visceral realness of it. Its one of those moments where the voice acting genuinly didnt feel like voice acting.
The reasons why he lashed out when he realized he was making a friend. His adamant and hurtful/destructive way of protecting himself. Of pushing them away because he cant bare to lose another friend. He didnt even know he was making a friend until the reminder of Kofmo and Ribbit triggered his self-sabotage response.
Jax's response being "show you dont care. be mean. push them so far they will hate you. dont get attached dont get attached dont get attached." (hah. too late)
Pomni. Beautiful, magnificent Pomni.
Her response to it being "you know what. fuck your bullshit. fight me. Fight BACK! Fucking prove to me you dont care. I fucking KNOW YOU CARE. I see r i g h t though you."
His attempt at pushing her away ONLY revealing more of himself. How it makes her physically fight him. Attempting to provoking him to prove he doesn't care. How it genuinely catches him off guard. A pure and honest "what is wrong with you??" because no-one has ever tired to physically fight him to prove a point like "hey asshole I care about you and I know you do too."
How he never actually fights back. Only trying to keep a distance. Keep her away.
Her physically fighting him means so fucking much. But that resolve only lasts so long. She backs off. The energy gone. Her hurt was so real. Her attempt failed. But did it really? How much did her perceptive eye learn in that moment? Oh so much. so so much.
She gives him space. He needs it. But she still watches him. Ready to look for him when he was gone too long from the awards show.
TL:DR: From how I experienced that whole scene. I feel that Pomni grasped so much about Jax. Because at this point, as the viewer, we know almost just as much about Jax as Pomni does. I learned so fucking much about him in that fight, and relating to Pomni as I do, I think she did as well.
Introducing my new OC Shay. As a young yokai she was found and forced to fight in the Battle Nexus. After a few years her skills and mystic abilities were noticed by Big Mamma and so she was taken in and trained as an assassin.

So she's not as fleshed out right now, as I haven't really sat down and laid out her story but basically:
Personality wise she's a little like Yor from Spy x Family, but less shy and a lot more sassy. Confident, headstrong and can be reckless, tho she's an incredible assassin. When works gotta get done, it's gotta get done. Hashtag hyperfocus. She's still playful, a goof and loves being a menace (affectionately).
The one idea I have for her mystics right now is she's a kind of shapeshifter. Descended of a secret, ancient and very powerful yokai race, she takes on three main forms: her more human form (as seen in the drawing); her humanoid yokai form (wip) and her true yokai form (also wip) and then the added ability of shifting. I'm thinking sorta like Mystique from X-men but more mystic. (lol)
The backstory for now is around her mid-late teens she was sent to gather information on the boys + Splinter. Long story short they grew on her and not much longer they helped her get free from Big Mamma (tho Big M still holds a grudge ofc.)
She's been part of the group ever since. Skip to the current time of the story in my head, which is mostly canon compliant, (I most likely will never write it....) their in their early-mid twenties. She gets along with each brother phenomenally, however she's closest to Donnie and Leo. Disaster Twins for the win baby!
I'm Ace so every one of my favs are Ace because I can :)
Her and Donnie's relationship is "I just wanna be in their company for the rest of my life" tho their quite protective over each other. I'm sticking with Mr 'im afraid of togetherness' but he tolerates and dare I say even enjoys her touch a lot more often than not. Cuddles are very much enjoyed, especially when Donnie's running on zero hours sleep. Yeah I'm obsessed with the hc that he's extremely clingy when tired.
Their just saps around each other ok, it bring my heart much warmth. They do bicker like theres no tomorrow sometimes. Also a lot of affectionate bullying, tho arguments do sprout up from time to time as their both quite stubborn, plus he's not as good with emotions while she's quite connected with hers. She tries very hard to be understanding tho.
