LONELY ROBOT - “GOD VS. MAN” (Please Come Home - 2015)
Recently released….. a new project called Lonely Robot featuring guitarist John Mitchell from It Bites (although he’s also associated with Arena, The Urbane, Kino, Frost*, and John Wetton).
The album explores the concept that our Earth ancestors were actually transplanted aliens, rather than the popular theory that aliens merely visited Earth long ago, and created our still-unexplained architectural and astronomical wonders.
ProgTracks Note: In thinking about this concept, it occurred to me that, if our ancestors were truly intelligent aliens capable of so much more than us….. then DEvO would be correct all along - we ARE devolving. Hmmm, looking around…. I think I’m on board with this concept!
At first listen, musically… there are lots of hooks in this album. Promising.
The Musicians: John Mitchell - guitars; Nick Beggs - bass; Craig Blundell -drums
Guests: Steve Hogarth, Nik Kershaw, Heather Findlay, Kim Seviour, Peter Cox; and Jem Godfrey

Sometimes, you juse need a dose of the classics: Van Der Graaf Generator - Wondering
I recall reading that TMV originally submitted Frances The Mute as three tracks. The record company only wanted to pay them for an EP because there weren't enough songs. So, they got back at the label by arbitrarily splitting the songs up.
I remember hearing about that as well.
For me, there are 5 songs:
1. Cygnus ... Vismund Cygun
2. The Widow
3. L'Via L'Viaquez
4. Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore
5. Cassandra Gemini Suite.
I think that Cassandra Gemini split up throughout the album is what throws the wrench in the gears. So many different things label it as different songs.
And then of course, there's the title track that has the lyrics in the CD Case, but is no where to be found on the album....
Fun times.
Now that I have your attention
The Mars Volta: Frances the Mute.
There have been many disputes as to the track layout of this album. Especially when we come to "Miranda that Ghost just Isn't Holy Anymore" and "Cassandra Gemini".
Where does one start, and the other begin? And where does each song from the Cassandra Gemini Suite start and begin? Is it really just a bunch of hoge poge? Or is that the point?
Arjen Lucassen can do no wrong. Can't wait for the full album of THE GENTLE STORM - here's the single he released today: Endless Sea (Lyric Video - Storm Version)
