An informal, digital charity fanzine to celebrate the world’s most popular sport and the first World Cup held in the Middle East region with Hetalia characters!

I'd love to have as many artists (and maybe writers) as possible to participate. Ideally, there would be good, diverse representation of nations participating in this World Cup, though many of them don't have official Hetalia characters -- so OCs are very much encouraged.
I'm hoping the zine could be released a couple of weeks ahead of the start of the World Cup (November 20, 2022).

Some people like Hetalia but get nervous about reblogging/interacting with content due to it being ~irredeemable media~. Personally I'd just make a sideblog or block anyone that gives me trouble for my interests but whatever makes them feels more comfortable /shrugs/
pfft i keep forgetting that hetalia is considered ~problematic~ because we're all just having fun and talking about countries kissing 😂 honestly, to each their own wrt creating side blogs 💕 not to mention some AUs people create are so distant from hetalia canon they could be considered original fiction - they're beautifully detailed and a joy to read about!
as a side note it's sort of ridiculous that people feel compelled to create secret side blogs to hide any transgressive interests... but i mean, i'm definitely guilty of this. when i came back to fandom it felt like this:

hey here's some usuk for @year81, who requested i depict the rapprochement era between the US and UK and she knows i have a weakness for this period of time!… i did a drawing, did some writing, went completely overboard. year 81 already knows im completely lost…
This is mostly Arthur and Alfred reflecting on their feelings about what rapprochement stands for. Despite hating each other for the past 100 years, in the late 19th to early 20th century, they became diplomatically friendly. During this time, support for allyship between the two became more popular within either nation. Truthfully I only know intellectual history and so this is some character analysis on the ideology behind rapprochement rather than the diplomatic details. So that entails more emphasis on ideals and aspirations, etc. A bit more analysis relating to stuff I wrote about before, Arthur feeling insecure and such.. includes some digging into the state of Alfred’s budding hero complex around the turn of the 20th century.
With the writing I experimented a different format where I've got some kind of fanfic-y character analysis followed with a bunch of footnotes consisting of more headcanons... approach this textual monstrosity at your own risk.

1908. Arthur used to hate travelling to America. It didn’t matter what class an American belonged to, they all had the same jeer reserved for the British. Arthur would always take it personally. “They’re so rude,” he’d tell his former charge. Alfred would appear uninterested in such comments. “We have the right to,” he’d always say.

first of all your art... is so spectacular. i wish i knew what went on in your brain when you create because the way i interpret this piece is so beautiful to me 🥺 it's very special and every time i look at it i have more thoughts on what they all symbolise! the stormy seas... the little us/uk ship... the skeleton tenderly caring for a blooming rose... the constellation??!! WOW! i'm also clutching my heart at the way england is staring at america!! oh my GODDDD stupid man in love!! (btw the way in which you draw alfred is a favourite of mine. he always looks so young and boyish! that youthful Icarian confidence!) i could rant for ages about how stunning your art is and how POLISHED it looks but i shall attempt to restrain myself 💓

Mwah *chefs kiss*. viewing their partnership as a means to gain more influence over the great British Empire aaaAAAAAAAAA!!
ughhh and that final part where they're sitting in Arthur's flat. stunning. delightful. holy shit. i love them in their vulnerability and I love them in their bull-headed blind dickheadedry.
i always learn something interesting when i read your works - I know I've said this before lol. i didn't know that there was so much drama at that particular olympic games! your footnotes were freaking incredibleeeeee too! i want to pick apart every little thing i love but this is why i take forever to reply to people and i REFUSE to give into the temptation 🙃 ... but i will just briefly touch upon THIS: "What could the argument that advances in communication technologies give rise to the “imagined community” mean for the nation-personification’s sense of self?" BECAUSE HECK YEAH!! that's such a fun question to explore! i loved reading your thoughts and i want to read/talk about this more!! 💕 also waaaAAAHHH the electric lines under the Atlantic representing the red thread of fate!!! 😭
