THERE’S A SEQUEL TO THE HORRIBLE VOLUME SLIDER POST
The ironic paradox of biphobia and lesbophobia is that lesbophobia will have you believe society wants you to be bi and biphobia will have you believe society wants you to be lesbian. The reality is that society does not want you to be lesbian or bi; that society only wants you to be straight, but will not hesitate to use other identities against you. If that means tricking you into believing your closest allies occupy a higher social standing than you and wish to keep you beneath them in the same way the straights do to them, then so be it. It’s not even divide and conquer, its recruiting us to do their own bidding and ridding them of us in the process. Heterosexuals as a class do not prefer lesbians to bisexuals or bisexuals to lesbians, thought individually each one might have differing opinions on which are most or least acceptable.
Attempting to convince you that bi privilege or monosexual privilege exists is an intended to shift our arms towards our allies instead of our oppressors.
oh so you'll like my post but not kiss me. typical
There’s a reason a sewing kit includes scissors, a wood shop has a saw, and a kitchen is full of knives. In order to build something, to create something on purpose, you have to be prepared to cut away what’s extra. A bolt of cloth does not a blanket make, a piece of wood a shelf, nor a loaf of bread a sandwich. When you snip off frayed bits of string, cut the wood into shape, or slice the end off a loaf of bread you are creating, with the act of removal, something closer to what you desire.
Now let’s say you’re not sewing a blanket, you’re not building a shelf, not making a sandwich. Let’s say you’re crafting a life in which you are happy. You will end up removing things. You’ll leave partners, stop talking to family members, let go of friends. You’ll move apartments, lose jobs, change wardrobes. And you will feel their absence. You’ll look at the scraps of cloth, the odd angles of wood, the stale end of the loaf. But that cloth couldn’t keep you warm and that tiny corner of wood can’t store books. You wouldn’t be full from that little bit of bread or happy with that person. In the art of creating there is the act of removal and it is essential.
Stretching the metaphor further: my sewing kit includes a seam ripper, and my hammer has a claw to pry out nails. I have made decisions that looked done, looked final, and realized they were wrong (for me), so I ripped them back, pried them out, and tried again.
i think im having two mental break downs at the same time and they're canceling each other out
Oh, Eliot.

Just don’t even get me started on Eliot Spencer, okay, because you do not want to hear it.
Okay, so I’m gonna say it anyway so you might want to keep scrolling.
I just… he’s smart, really smart. Black Widow smart, and almost as lethal to boot (it’s a very specific haircut/footprint/handgun/way of breathing – Eliot Spencer has you figured out in seconds). He’s got a code, and morals, and he was scared of who he was becoming. And then he let the people he met change him (the chef who he was meant to kill and instead befriended, the alcoholic mastermind who gave him a family). And he’s honest (Don’t ask me that, because if you ask me, I’ll tell you. It’s for both of them. But he’s not that man anymore). He rarely laughs, but he remembers how to smile in a way that reaches his eyes. He’s not proud, but he’s confident. He doesn’t really want to kill anymore, if he doesn’t have to, but he will. He doesn’t use guns, and I think in part it’s to give everyone a fighting chance, but it’s also because he doesn’t like the way guns make people (I think he saw enough of that on his first tour when farm boys were given rifles and told to kill. But I also think it’s because he wants to remember what he does, wants to consider what he’s doing. It’s always intentional, you know?).
He’s not just a weapon. He’s an amazing cook, and he can sing, and grift, and…
When you are writing characters, it can be really easy to make them into caricatures, or to just mash two seemingly contradictory characteristics together. Like Buffy (no shade thrown on Buffy), the girl who would be a cheerleader was also the slayer. But Eliot’s not that. In fact, none of them are. He says it best himself, when he left he was this kid with God in his heart and the flag on his shoulder, and he looks in the mirror for him everyday, but he’s gone. And that’s Eliot Spencer. Gifted hitter, talented chef, isolated by the ghosts of what he’s done (for country, for money) and who he has become because of those things. Leverage is a redemption arc, all five series, right up until the end, when he says ‘until my dying day’. Because it’s at that point that he lets himself be defined by something other than his ability to hurt, destroy, kill.
And that’s why Eliot Spencer is amazing.
“This is a one time deal.”
Little did Eliot know that this one time deal would give him the thing that he was searching for but could never bring himself to admit.
y'all (if you could) do me a favor and please tag this with your sign and how potent your need to be right about everything is

I just found out that the Korean baseball league’s championship trophy is a giant sword
Every other sports league on the planet needs to get their shit together.
loneliness really does advance and strengthen like once it makes a home in you it's so hard to feel like your place is with others and it's so easy to get out of practice at sharing who you are because by that point being on your own is an integral aspect of your existence and there's just no way to explain that to anybody
i hate crying in front of people so if i have ever cried in front of you, yes it does kinda mean you’re important but mostly it means it was a terrible accident that i will regret forever
