so like…. i’ve officially decided that stakes is pretty much adventure time’s last chance to keep my attention. i’m actually going to be like… really upset if they don’t make bubbline canon. like at this point with steven universe paving the way with ruby and sapphire as well as pearl’s love for rose quartz, the huge step forward in lgbt+ rights in this country this year, and the amount of buildup they’ve done, it would just be lazy and disappointing if they tried to pull a “no homo gal-pals” thing with them. they have this power in their hands to do something REALLY great and powerful, and if they don’t take up that opportunity, it’s just gonna be lazily cowering behind their fear of loosing conservative viewership with a lot of queerbaiting. marceline and princess bubblegum (as well as flame princess but that’s not the point of this) are easily the most interesting characters in the show behind the army of cute but quickly going flat male characters. that’s just my opinion, but like, at this point with the last season being so disappointing to me personally plot wise, and steven universe heightening my expectations of what a good show is with beautiful characters, i’ll have to let it go if it can’t redeem itself to me.
