As soon as he’s sure Tubbo’s secure in the chair and doesn’t seem like he’s going to faint again, he turns, going back to the sink and grabbing a glass. He lets his mind wander for a brief moment, body going through the motions of getting a glass of water for Tubbo. He… needs to prepare himself for questioning, to ensure that he doesn’t let Tubbo wiggle out of answers again.
Tommy feels horrible that this went on for so long without him knowing. He’s not going to let that go any further.
“ AH, ALRIGHT, FAIR ENOUGH.” tommy’s cut off had been a little startling, but he understood why … as much as tubbo couldn’t stand the tension, he didn’t have the energy to fight it anymore either. and, he’s sure tommy wouldn’t let him avoid questioning now either. he shrinks back slightly into the seat, instinctively making himself smaller.
his own thoughts conflicted between anger about someone knowing and also the relief of finally being able to tell someone. both undermined by that fact that no healing potions had worked besides seemingly masking symptoms and biding time. unable to bring himself to start the conversation himself, he just waits for tommy’s return and whatever questions he would have first. as he waits he tries to form a chronological timeline in his brain of symptoms, and how to explain it to the other.
→ Eventually Tommy returns, setting the glass down in front of the other. There’s a straw poking out, in hopes of making it easier to drink from. He doesn’t want to make it seem like he’s babying Tubbo, but it’s also clear that some things may be more difficult and he wants to help. He settles himself down in a seat near ~~his best friend~~ Tubbo, drawing his feet onto the chair and knees to his chest. Look small, prepare for fighting. That’s how you ease tension. At least, that’s how he’s been doing it since Exile.
Neither of them want to start the talk, it seems. Tommy worries at his lower lip, trying to keep himself small, try to keep from appearing threatening or anything else that may make Tubbo uncomfortable. This conversation is going to hard enough. Tommy needs to keep himself in check during it. That’s the one good thing that Dream taught him how to do.
