When same-sex marriage was first approved...
by The U.S. Supreme Court, gay and trans folk endured the inevitable backlash. Now the court is contemplating imposing harsh conditions on us again. Leave well enough alone. Do not continue to place gay and trans folk in the way of violence, discrimination, and generally negative attitudes.

The Constitution protects religious beliefs. It does not protect a person's right to discriminate based on religious belief. But on Monday, two Supreme Court justices — Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito — indicated they see things quite differently.
Though not expected by me, it was refreshing to see America move forward in the cause of equal rights. Now the Supreme Court stands poised to deny civil liberties previously extended to gay folk, and move America backward instead of forward. At the time it was my opinion that America was not ready for same-sex marriage, and it appears I was right.
Such a move, while being arbitrary and unjust, would send a message to society at large resulting in widespread discrimination with impunity, harassment and violence against gay and trans folk. The word ‘threat’ hardly approximates the real effect of such an action. The stink of bigotry is being demonstrated by U.S. Supreme Court justices, who are placing ordinary Americans at risk of all manner of injury and even death. The court has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, and overturning the measure would be disastrous in terms of the safety and well-being of gay and trans Americans. This would not simply be a change in the law, it would encourage discrimination and violence.
These attacks will be justified in the name of religion. The stated reasoning, to give religious people the right to discriminate, is a most flimsy pretext to achieve the goal of harming gay and trans folk in America. The principle of church/state separation will be violated in a most egregious way by The U.S. Supreme Court. –Bevan
If Republicans replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg with Amy Coney Barrett, they should pay a price.
Amy Coney Barrett grew up in a bizarre religious cult, ‘People of Praise’. Barrett is an outlier, far removed from the American mainstream, and ought to be rejected. –Bevan

White House spokesman Judd Deere said the event was an "official" event, and "the campaign is not involved in this."
Let's get this right: It was, flatly and unequivocally, a campaign rally. --Bevan
