General message to anyone who reblogged that 7 year old post about child abuse that broke containment and I had to turn reblogs off (unless I already blocked you for both of our well-beings):
Sometimes (often? usually?) sufferers of mental illness, and sufferers of abuse (especially!! child abuse!!!) that came as a direct fucking result of the symptoms of that mental illness, have different, even opposing, support needs.
Having a mental illness, any mental illness, does not automatically make someone abusive.
Telling people that the childhood abuse that gave them lifelong CPTSD isn't real very much does look like you're excusing abuse in the name of anti-ableism.
It isn't ableist to affirm that the abuse you suffered was a result of the very real symptoms that your abuser suffered. It's possible for me to sympathize and empathize with my mother and still recognize that her very real pain caused me very real pain.
We probably disagree on that. We're probably not ever going to agree on that. So please leave me alone.
