There is the theory of “Reverse-Evolution” (not to be confused with De-Evolution), which states that a Pokémon, rather than simply developing an evolution, develops a pre-evolutionary form, which will hatch from an egg. Cubone is the most common example used, as it has more genetic similarity with Marowak, much like most evolutionary forms do, rather than Kangaskhan. The theory states that Marowak evolved from Kangaskhan and later laid eggs from which Cubone hatched. This theory, however, is disputed. While it would be supported by Darwin’s theory of evolution, and support the idea of the evolution of different Pokémon, many find the idea of a common ancestor more likely.

Plant Pokémon were most likely one of the earliest Pokémon to develop evolutions. The most well-known example of this theory is Bulbasaur, which is one of the oldest Pokémon to still exist and whose evolutionary line is one of the most simple and primitive known.

While some Joys either work other jobs part-time, or pursue other careers on the side (such as Evelyn Joy, who, aside from rowing from island to island in the eastern island cluster, also participates in Ironman/woman triathlons), not all of them become Nurses:

Despite having the title "Nurse", Nurse Joy actually is what a veterinarian is in real life, she is only outranked by Pokémon Doctors.

The actual proper title for “Nurse Joy” is actually Pokémon Nurse (PoN).

Due to the excruciating difficulty of the exams, only few people take the additional time to study at Universities to become Pokémon Doctors, or even passed them. Still, Nurses make up 60% of Pokémon Doctors.

A Nurse is required to take basic first-aid courses for humans and self-defense classes.

When in the military, Nurses must also undertake special training against psychic attacks.

The Joy's family crest is a Chansey.

Attacking a Pokémon Center is considered terrorism.

A Nurse is the last one to leave the Pokémon Center in case of an evacuation.

A Nurse can take away a trainer's Pokémon in case of heavy abuse/mistreatment.

The PIA also inspects Pokémon Centers (under much stricter guidelines, naturally, since it's a medical facility for Pokémon).

Nurses inspect and treat the Gym Leader's Pokémon regularily, but unlike the PIA, they cannot shut the Gym down.

Nurses can and will call the PIA if something's not right in the gym.

Most Nurse Joys and Chanseys know each other since their childhood.

The Nurse school for Chanseys is near to the Nurse school for humans so they can see each other.

Nurses have their own little league and contest.

Participating in at least five Gym battles is a requirement for a Nurse, to prove they are good enough to defend the Pokémon Center in case of emergency.

The Nurse Schools for both Chansey and Humans are officially named "The Anabelle Joy School of Pokémon Nursery (for Chanseys, or other Pokémon, depending on Region)"

Annabelle Joy was the first Nurse Joy, a Pokémon Nurse who became famous after evacuating a military hospital for injured Pokémon during the siege of Viridia City during the Kanto/Johto War. As soon as the last Pokémon (Chansey) left the tent, it was hit by a stray mortar grenade, instantly killing the Nurse. The circumstances of why and how she knew of the impending attack are unclear to this day, but Annabelle Joy was considered a war hero, and in her honor, the Annabelle Joy School of Pokémon Nursery was built.

In Sinno-Fioric folklore, whenever an Unown is exposed to its mirror image, the mirror will shatter. It’s attributed to Unown’s role as messenger between realms and that the message it delivers can never be falsified. This also includes every individual Unown.

In some stories, mirrors also shatter whenever Unown are close.

The name of the province and city of Shalour originates from the name Gaelar or Gelar (Kalosian: Gèlare), and refers to Gaelic speaking settlers that came from Galar centuries ago. They are commonly referred to as “les gèlares”. The language is still present today and is one of 5 officially recognized minority languages. Gèlar itself is more closely related to the Gaelic languages spoken along the mid-eastern coast and the north-eastern provinces of Galar than the ones in the south.

It is said that in Galar there is still a forgotten law that states high treason that acutely endangers the public’s well being is punishable by death, making it Galar’s only remaining crime with a death penalty despite having officially abandoned the use of such a sentence for over 300 years.

Kalos’ and Galar’s history are very closely intertwined. For centuries, the kingdoms of Kalos and Galar fought many wars, but also had arranged marriages of their respective royal house to keep peace and better their relationship, and due to the immense influence of Kalos, Kalosian was the primary language spoken throughout all classes ( with the exception of farmers) in Galar during the middle ages.

It was also a Kalosian who freed Galar from the rule of Kalos and became their first king, unifying the splintered and war-torn lands into one kingdom. He established a dynasty that would be known in history as one of bloodshed, slander, libel and cruelty.

Pokémon naming conventions are much more complex than percieved.

While they are usually named after what their cry sounds like, there are several exceptions:

Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Arceus, Dialga, Palkia and Girantia are all names taken from the language of the native inhabitants of Sinnoh and parts of Almia and Fiore and date back before the settlement of today’s Sinnohans from the south.

All Kapu Pokémon are named by the native Alolans, meaning holy, untouchable or simply spirit (of higher order). In some scripts they are also referred to as “Tapu”. Jangmo-o is also a name that had it’s origins in Alolan (Mo-o means dragon).

Yvetal and Dedenne are Kalosian names.

It should be noted that all names are regulated under the Pokémon Catalogueing Conventions. Though there are some local variations that may vary from Region to Region, all Pokémon must be named according to regulations in official documents.

Due to the nature of the Bulbasaur line only laying 1 egg in life, the quality of the environment can often be measured by the size of the herd. The bigger the herd, the better the quality.

The birth rate in a herd is usually steady. But a rapid decline in newly hatched Bulbasaurs usually indicates that something is wrong.

The Indigo Plateau’s only connection to the rest of Kanto is through the Victory Road that leads through the mountains.

Likewise, there is a strip of uninhabited land in Kanto along the shore on the other side of New Bark Bay that is Johto territory, but is completely cut off from the Region.

The Gyms and Pokémon Leagues are only open during summer. This includes Hoenn (due to winter being rain season, and floods not being uncommon).
