Hi! Hope this is not too weird a question to ask out of the blue, but I'm currently reading Midnight and it reminded me…been curious about this for some time really, thought I'd finally ask!

Regarding the coloured image from Midnight used in your blog header, did you colour it yourself or was there some special edition of the manga that had colour available (at one point)? Thanks for your time!

My header is an "officially coloured" panel but there is no fully coloured manga out there afaik! It is (or was?) at least semi common for manga chapters to start off with a few coloured pages and then go back to b&w and this was the case with a few midnight chapters!

Tierlist Of Most Of The Tezuka Works I Have Read Yes i havent read astro boy or princess knight or phoenix yet Leave me alone i have problems..............

THis was the tierlist i used but I had to edit a few in that werent available on the tierlist

Under the read more are more Specific feelings towards them as well as other Things about works Ive started reading but havent finished yet/included in the tierlist. If you even care.

S tier

BJ - I cant even go into detail about why BJ is my favourite bc if i wrote down every single thought i had about it it'd probably end up being longer than the rest of this post......... Like it became the Spiders Georg of this entire tier list because i felt that, despite Dororo being my second favourite tezuka work, my love for BJ is so strong that S tier became TOO exclusive. ANyway i love black jack

Dororo - Like I said. My second favourite. Hyakkimaru and dororo's relationship is very "cute" and "sillay". I thought id have more to say about it but I Do Not i just really enjoy it. I realize that most of my enjoyment of Anything comes from whether or not the main character is my Favourite character and yeah I think a big reason i love it so much is because, like i said, i loved hyakkimaru and dororo and their designs are very cute to me

A tier

Unico - I dont have much to say about unico either its just a Very Sweet Story and unico is Very Cute...... I think it also just appealed to my cocomelon brain because i read the coloured version and i really liked that. I really wish there were more coloured version of tezuka's works ;_;

Say Hello to Bookila - I lose sleep every night knowing bookila will never be finished. I really liked what there was, Toroko is very "cute" and "funnay", I like she and Rock's relationship I ALSO liked Rock and Bookila is sooo cute even though he NEEDS to put pants on.... I also really loved the art style here in particular

Midnight - I used to have this in A tier and honestly its kinda undeserved bc looking at it objectively its kind of "unappealing" and weird i guess?? Idk like i get why its not one of his most popular works But like obviously i enjoyed it bc my profile is Midnight-Themed, idk why i like it so much 😭😭 Anyway now that some time has passed and im thinking about it, im torn on where to put it. ANYWAY AGAIN I think it would be cool for a adaptation (manga or anime idc) that leaned more into the original concept for it with the Psychic Robot Car which had to be scrapped bc a show airing at the time had a similar concept/plot ;_; I also loved the BJ cameos of course i personally consider Midnight a BJ spinoff ✋ Also the ending ruined my day. I also like the girl with the Truck i think her name was Chiaki ?? Idk i liked her

B Tier

Don Dracula - I actually have barely read any of it bc only 7 chapters are available in English which Sucks bc i quickly became Fond of what i had read except for the part where Chocola's clothes explode off her body for literally no reason but yeah ok. I kinda wanted to put this in A tier or the weird AB purgatory chapter with Midnight but it felt weird of me to do when i barely read any of it .... I know bookila also only had like 8 or 9 chapters but thats all there was so its DIFFERENT okay. Either way i thought it was le silly.

Vampires - I think out of all of tezuka's works ive read id want this to get an anime adaptation the most, more specifically like a "rewrite" like with Dororo 2019 and Pluto, i think it could be very interesting and Good with some reworks.... The only reason this is in B and not A is just because the story gets a little too "off the rails" for my taste in the later half-ish (like when Rock gets involved with other vampires and has them building a mansion?????)... I much more prefer the earlier bits with Toppei and Rock and their whole dynamic of whatever. I like it a lot though i keep meaning to draw fanart but i am lazy <3

Rainbow Parakeet - Its been a while since i read it and thinking about it now i kinda remember it more fondly but ill just keep it as a High B for now. I really liked Senri and her interactions with Parakeet were amusing to me... I feel like it was kind of weird to see the final chapters just lay out Parakeet's entire backstory as it is but i also kind of appreciate it bc i did wanna know what his deal was... Idk there was a lot i enjoyed about it.. I didnt like the very last chapter though it was really weird and also made Tamasaburo straight for some reason??? Unless that dog was just a very effeminate boy dog 😭😭Like it just felt like a completely separate chapter from a separate story but with Tamasaburo doing a star system appearance. I also would want it to get an anime....... And i also remember reading a Word from Tezuka about the series and it was sooo sad like apparently he barely if EVER got letters about Rainbow Parakeet bc people just werent that interested in it😭😭

C Tier (This isnt like a negative tier literall just "I dont feel strongly about it")

Metropolis - It was fine! didnt have much to say about it. I will say i did like the concept of Michi being Robot Genderfluid I wish they used that for Tima in the movie but i dont see what they couldve done with it... But i also dont remember it being that important in the manga so idc!

Melmo - I also did not finish this one only because I kinda got the gist of it after reading a handful of chapters, its a episodic kids manga theres not much else to it. I will say i was scared to read it after what i had heard about the anime but it ended up not being as bad as i feared??? i guess??... But like i said. I also didnt finish it. So maybe it was weirder and i just hadnt gotten to that point. (or i blocked it from my mind to protect my soul.)😰😰😰

D tier

Jungle Emperor - The only work i actually dislike i just dont really get why its like. one of his iconic works. I also hadnt actually finished this one i moreso skimmed because i just did not like it it is just one of tezukas more Offensive and Shittily Written works... Thats not to say the rest of his works are squeaky clean cuz theyre NOT but Kimba is particularly Bad.... I think the only reason Kimba has survived over the years is just because hes so cute. Ill admit it. I really do love the lion designs especially kimba and kitty. But i also am just not fond of tezuka's art style in the 50s so i cant even be like aT lEaSt ThE aRt Is GoOd!!!1!1!!11 bc i dont like it!

Astro boy - I know i said i havent read it but i actually have read a good amount of it when i was like 14 or 15 and im 21 now so i barely remember any of it. I have reread a few chapters here and there over the years and i like them fine enough but idk... Ill get around to it some day

Princess Knight - I started to read this a WHILE ago but didnt get far into it so i have no thoughts yet

MW - I feel like i'm too stupid for MW like idk every time i read it i feel like i have no idea whats going on 😭😭 Not sure if ill finish it Because of that

Barbara - Read a chunk of it and just never got around to finishing it, i dont have much to say on it but i do like Barbara (the character)

Atom Cat - I actually did read a decent amount of this I feel like i could tier but i just. forgot to do that. Id probably put it in B or like a Nebulous BC tier bc, like melmo, its a simple episodic kids manga without much depth but i bumped it up to C bc Tezuka drew cats so cutely it drives me nuts

I just got the new BJ Missing Pieces book and unfortunately Tezuka pro didnt let them include the entirety of Finger which sucks but they were allowed to include a few pages from it to compare to Imprint and it was so weird but nice to see at least SOME of it in high quality :[
