Want Your Summer Skin (Pressed on Mine)
“You know,” Fennec says, conversationally, “-you could’ve at least pretended to pay attention.”
“What?” Din asks, as they walk out of the community centre. It's probably not great for him, as a paramedic, to not have been listening at their re-cert. Oh well, there’s always the next one. Fennec laughs at him.
“Going to see your man, then?”
“He’s not my-” Din exhales, and decides to stop fighting a losing battle. “-he’s hosting a BBQ today.”
Fennec makes a surprised noise.
“You must like him if you’re going to weather a social event for him.”
“It’s neighbourly.” Din says, feebly.
“-and,” Fennec says, “-I guess you have to go and make sure no one tries to steal him away from you.”
“He’s not my-” Din begins, again, but then stops in his tracks. He didn’t even think of that.
It’s not like you have any say in the matter though, Djarin, Din thinks as he drives, the music and noise from Luke’s backyard getting louder as he approaches. Din drives slowly as more people walk through the street, carrying things, kids running around with water guns. He waves at some neighbours as he gets out of the car.
“You coming too, Mando?” one of them asks,
“Yeah, be over in a minute.” They look surprised.

After a brutal few summers which included (but were not limited to) a workplace injury and a dramatic career pivot, Luke Skywalker is hoping for a nice, relaxing, boring summer.
He thinks he’s got it too, jumping at the chance to house sit for Leia in suburbia.
Her extremely handsome next door neighbour, however, throws a wrench in Luke’s plans.
Din Djarin, for his part, is far too occupied with his career and son to be lusting over yoga-doing next door neighbours.
Both of them do their best to resist.

I managed to survive the ao3 author's note curse, so chapter 2 is finally up.
