Cars lined the streets, parents helping their children unload packed cars as they began their trek towards their assigned dorms. The sun was currently beating down on you, a bead of sweat rolling down the side of your face as you lugged a rolling cart behind you.
The cart was empty now, but thirty minutes ago, you were dragging it as if it weighed 200 pounds with a clueless freshman trailing behind you who had no idea where their dorm was nor what it was called, which meant you both walked around for nearly an hour before he realized it was the first dorm you had pointed out at the beginning of the goose hunt.
Now, you were scowling at your sorority sisters who were all underneath the tent that Greek Life had rented out since your service chair had so kindly recommended that you all should help out with โfreshman move-inโ for community service hours. As you were approaching, their gazes shifted towards you, some of them giggling at your expression, others grimacing at the glare you were currently sending towards your president for approving this.
Iori Utahime, president of Zeta Mu Theta, and one of your best friends, turned towards you. Clapping her hands at your arrival, she sent you a grin, โGreat, youโre back! I was thinking that now-โ Holding up a hand, you collapsed in a chair with your chest heaving. Not only was it freshman move-in day, but it was also one of the hottest days of the year. You were already pulling your shirt up to wipe away the sweat that was beading on your forehead.
Iori was crossing her arms over her chest, an eyebrow cocked up as she watched you. โYou didnโt even hear me out.โ Shaking your head, you reached for a water bottle out of the cooler, โDonโt have to, I think itโs break time.โ
Ieiri Shoko, another one of your sorority sisters, snorted at your demeanor. โTold you she wasnโt going to do anything once she got back.โ
Ieiri groaned, pulling her pastel blue shirt that read โZeta LOVES move-in day!โ up to her chin, wiping away sweat as she fanned herself. Iori tapped her foot. She was eyeing the booth further down the street from ours, the sounds of men yelling and whooping echoing up the street to where we were all melting into a sweat puddle.
Iori spun herself towards the two of you, her eyes wide. โThe double standards are actually ridiculous.โ
Ieiri simply cocked up an eyebrow, watching as Iori Utahime went on one of her tangent rants about fraternities on our campus.
โIt is so gross how they can get away with having a car wash, practically naked, while we have to drag around ungrateful freshmen's luggage.โ You and Ieiri shared a glance, already knowing the next words that were to come out of her mouth.
โDo yโall even know who is throwing that sorry car wash? Itโs those idiots from-โ
โKappa Rho Psi,โ You and Ieiri finished her sentence for her, not needing to hear her out, as this was her tenth time this morning bringing up the rambunctious fraternity whose house was down the street from your own.
Kappa Rho Psi was the biggest fraternity at your college. Their pledge classes were enormous, but the fraternity itself was very selective. To say Zeta Mu Theta disliked Kappa Rho Psi was an understatement. It was a sort of rivalry that had been ongoing for years, dating back to when the sorority and fraternity were chartered decades ago.
You remembered past members spreading the same story, stating that a member from each organization had dated and when they broke up, the breakup was so messy that it caused a rift so deep that despite trying to resolve it throughout the years, the disconnect raged on to now, where current members kept it alive by staying as far as they could from the other organization.
Ever since you were inducted into Zeta as a member, there were no mixers with KRP, no philanthropy with KRP, and absolutely no dating anyone from KRP. You could recall that there was a possible new member who was rushing last year, but was blacklisted from Zeta just because she was dating a member of Kappa.
Iori was about to begin her tangent about how ruthless they were when the whooping started to near. Ieiri turned her head towards the noise before groaning, sinking into her fold-out lawn chair.
Two men approached the tent, shirtless, with water dripping down their chests as they playfully shoved each other. You fought narrowing, your eyes as you realized the men boys approaching, immediately realizing that itโs not a campus event without Kappa boys coming to bother any girl from Zeta.
Ieiri went to High School with Suguru and Satoru, and although you were sure that they were close while in school, she parted from them quite easily once she became your roommate freshman year.
โAnd those two imbeciles,โ Ieiri pointed to two boys who sat in a booth with their trays piled with food from the caf, โwere my best friends in High School.โ
Blinking, you squinted your eyes to look at them. They were cuter than most guys in your freshman class, as if they had stepped out of a catalog. โDo you want to say hi?โ
Ieiri snorted, shaking her head. โNah, I doubt they notice Iโm gone. Besides,โ she elbowed you before dragging you out of the caf behind her, โI have you now.โ
โShoko,โ Suguru greeted, a bang sitting artfully on his forehead. Ieiri raised an eyebrow at him before greeting, โDid you two come over here to act like idiots?โ Satoru appeared over her shoulder, his white hair falling over the black circle lenses that he seemed to carry with him everywhere.
โOh, cโmon, we just wanted to see hi,โ Satoru whined, leaning on the back of the lawn chair, causing the front legs of the chair to lift slightly off the ground.
Ieiri shot him a glare over her shoulder, not even bothering to wave him off as she sat reclined in her chair. Iori, on the other hand, seemed to have hypothetical steam pouring out from her ears.
Watching carefully, you watched Satoruโs eyes shift over to Iori. A sinking feeling filled your chest as you made eye contact with Ieiri, a cringed expression already taking residence on her features.
โHey, Utahime. We really need to plan that mixer.โ Satoru said, a smirk already painted on his face as he stood up from where he was leaning. His tall frame had his stark white hair grazing the top of the tent.
Iori blinked at him, โYou really need to leave my members alone.โ
Ieiri stood from her seat, grabbing Suguru and Satoru by the wrists and dragging them away from our tent. Suguru laughed as Ieiri dragged him away, with Satoru complaining and fighting against her grip the whole way.
Your eyes couldnโt help but bounce between the two guys. As much as Iori seemed to despise them, you always found the Kappa group to be the most intriguing out of the different fraternities on campus. Despite their reputation on campus, earning them the prolific title of โprofessional man-whores,โ they were extremely active with on-campus events, philanthropy, and community events. It gained them an inch of respect from you, but that was about all they could get.
As you watched Ieiri scold the two men, you shifted your eyes over to Iori before grabbing a water from the cooler and handing it to her. Iori sighed as she grabbed the water bottle from you, โJust one more year and theyโll be out of our hair.โ
You laughed before grabbing your own, drinking almost half in one go. โI sure hope so.โ
Satoru Gojo was bored with this fall semester already. The only thing he looked forward to was seeing his fraternity brothers again, even though he had vacationed with some of them at his familyโs beach resort during the summer break.
Now that he was reunited with his friends, he was bored again.
Things just werenโt hard anymore. He struggled with school mainly because the content was so easy that it had a hard time gathering any of his attention. That was the main reason he had pledged Kappa Rho Psi three years ago: to not be bored.
The only things that seemed to bring any excitement now were mixers, booze, parties, and girls. Girls used to be the most exciting part about college, knowing he would not likely see another girl after hooking up with her once.
But, even that grew to be boring too. Girls now seemed too predictable. It wasnโt fun having girls come up to him already knowing what they wanted. Where was the chase? Where was the denial?
Satoru had been chasing that high since freshman year of college, and now he was a senior, and the only one of his fraternity brothers who didnโt have at least one girlfriend during college.
Sure, he had situationships where the girl wanted more than he did. Or casual hook-ups, he would see if things were really boring, but there was no tension, no push and pull, nothing. Just dullness.
Satoru loved women; he really did. He held the door open for girls, made sure he was respectful, remembered the little things, and he did everything a gentleman would do, but it was annoying that no girl seemed to catch his attention in the four years he had been in college. All except one girl that he never had the privilege of knowing.
The tumblers that the rest of Satoruโs fraternity carried around had some sort of strange mixture that Toji had cooked up at the house; the drink tasted strong despite Toji reaffirming him ten times that there was barely any liquor in it.
Now that the freshman move-in was over and the need for shirtless frat guys wasnโt high anymore, everyone went home and changed before coming to the Greek Life Kick-off. It was an event that was put on every year, where each organization came out and did what only made sense on a hot August day, which was participating in day drinking.
People with sticks up their asses, like Iori Utahime, would sit with their organization or mingle with their friends from other organizations while not having a drop of alcohol. Satoru could spy other guys from Kappa carrying around the matching tumblers with the organizationโs crest on them. They were all drinking, even Kento Nanami, who was currently talking with some guy from another frat whose name Satoru couldnโt quite remember.
Suguru leaned back in the lawn chair he was lounging in, his tumbler already empty and in โdire need of a refill,โ as Suguru had stated right after he had chugged it. Satoru had his chin resting in his palm, eyes scanning for anyone who looked remotely interesting to talk to. He couldnโt annoy any of the Zeta girls after Shoko chewed his ass out earlier.
Groaning, Satoru leaned his head against the back of the chair. He ran a hand through his hair; the baseball cap that he had brought had already been stolen by some sorority girl he met at a mixer once, so his hair was messy and sticking up in multiple directions.
โIf youโre bored, go find someone to talk to,โ Suguru said, not bothering to look at his best friend while he waited for Toji to shoot a text that he was back with more drinks.
Satoru sighed, looking up at the clouds through his dark-tinted sunglasses, his knee bouncing up and down repeatedly, โThatโs the thing, no one is interesting enough.โ
Ryomen Sukuna, another member of Kappa Rho Psi, sent a pointed look at his brother. โIf everyone is โnot interesting,โ then I am guessing that you havenโt found a date for formal yet.โ
Satoru stilled the bouncing of his knee. Kappa Rho Psiโs back-to-school formal was one of the first events that Kappa puts on when everyone gets back to school. Although itโs something that is exclusive to members only, you could find a way to attend if you were someone elseโs date.
Satoru had seen girls find dates for Kappaโs back-to-school formals only to dump them a week later, just because the event was something everyone wanted to experience at least once. Formal was eleven days away, and the thought of even asking a girl to go with him seemed like a long shot.
That typically meant the girl would think something was between the two of them, and it sounded like too much drama for the first semester of his last year of college. Relationships were too much, but casually seeing someone was different. Satoru didnโt mind that.
He knew all of his other brothers already had dates, practically flaunting around and showing screenshots of what girl they had bagged to take to formal. Satoru had never brought a girl to the back-to-school formal, winter formal, or spring formal.
โNope,โ Satoru closed his eyes, boredom filling every crevice of his skin, his knee subconsciously starting to bounce again. โThen letโs find you an interesting date, then,โ Suguru said with a mischievous grin.
Satoru opened an eye, angling his head towards his best friend. โHave you anyone in mind?โ
Suguru shrugged, โI can name a few, but itโs hard to tell who can keep your attention or not.โ
Ryomen chuckled, โCan a girl even keep Satoruโs attention for even 10 days? Seems to me that he drops them after 2 days.โ
Satoru didnโt bother arguing that it wasnโt true. He knew that he was terrible at staying all-in when he got involved with a girl, which was partly the reason most of his situationships end as quickly as they did.
Suguru hummed in thought, his eyes scanning before a smirk rose deviously on his face. โWhat about her?โ
Satoru looked at Suguru, following his gaze. Ryomen sighed when he realized who Suguru was pointing at.
It was a girl from Zeta that Satoru noticed had something like an electric presence. When he had been at other parties, and you walked in, people tended to gravitate towards you. As much as other guys from Kappa would ogle at you, they wouldnโt dare approach you. Especially because you were a Zeta.
It was part of the reason Satoru had tried to ignore you over the past couple of years. He remembered seeing you everywhere freshman year, mainly because his eyes had always seemed to meet yours unintentionally.
He recalled you having boyfriends, but they wouldnโt stick around long. They always seemed like the smart type, ones who didnโt go to parties but would if you were to drag them. Another thing that made Satoru realize that you probably werenโt worth pursuing, even if you were the prettiest girl to step into the room.
โSheโs your friend, right, Ryo?โ Satoru leaned over to his tattooed friend, who had a bored expression on his face. โWhat can you tell me about her?โ
Ryomen ran a hand down the side of his face. โYeah, I am not talking about this.โ He proceeded to stand up from the chairs they were lounging in before adjusting the white beater on his tanned skin. Giving a faux salute to his brothers, Ryomen started his walk over to some girls who were ogling the group before.
You were talking with some girls from a different sorority, mainly about a mixer that was in the works, when Satoru approached you. You watched as your friends quietly dismissed themselves at seeing him approach. It wasnโt what he was going for, but it would work for now, since you two were now alone.
โDonโt tell me that itโs only lemonade in your cup?โ He asked, tilting his head to the side just slightly as if he needed to get a closer look at you. The sunglasses that were sitting on your nose were now pushing back your hair as an intrigued smile arose on your face.
โDonโt tell me that itโs just straight liquor in your cup?โ You retaliated, leaning against the cool brick wall behind you.
Satoru shrugged, โAnd if it is?โ
He leaned against the brick wall beside you, taking a sip from his tumbler, which wasnโt straight liquor, only about 45% liquor. He tried not to cringe from the taste, changing his mind that it had to be at least 65% liquor instead.
Watching him carefully, you sipped your lemonade, which was in fact, only lemonade. The hot weather and alcohol would probably induce a heat stroke, which wasnโt ideal when you still needed to unpack at your apartment that afternoon.
You guessed Satoru had nothing else to do with his day, seeing his eyes narrow slightly as he lazily raised his tumbler, which had his fraternity's crest labeled on it, to his lips. Youโve heard and seen Satoru not able to handle his liquor before, so you were honestly shocked to see him engaging in the darty festivities.
โIs there a reason you approached me, Satoru?โ
Satoru raised a white eyebrow, his eyelashes fluttering as he deemed innocence, โI canโt say hi? You didnโt say anything to us earlier.โ
โUsโ probably meaning Satoru and Suguru when they came to gloat about their earnings from their car wash and the fact that they were staying cool in the intense August heat. The dean of students would have a fit if women were hosting a car wash in Brazilian cut bikinis, or even one pieces, but it was fine if the men paraded around in swim trunks and Speedos.
You matched his expression, but mainly you were wondering why he had to be so insufferable.
Satoru dropped his shoulders as if it was torture to see you irritated with him, his bottom lip almost coming into a pout. โI thought we were friends.โ
You couldnโt help but scoff at his words, knowing that it was obvious that the two of you werenโt remotely near that title.
โI think we are far from being friends, Satoru.โ
Satoru was staring at his tumbler, his tongue darting out to catch a drop of whatever mixed drink had his attention. He lapped the liquid from the side of his cup, looking at you through his eyelashes as you spoke. โDonโt treat me like Utahime does, itโs so draining.โ
Pursing your lips, you raised an eyebrow. Satoruโs navy blue shirt was tighter fitting, accentuating his built body that he often flaunted for his huge following on Instagram. Not that you were one of them, but he often popped up on your โPeople You May Knowโ tab.
You remembered seeing one of his posts, the picture featuring Satoru and two of his fraternity brothers, Toji Fushiguro and Ryomen Sukuna, flexing shirtless on some beach on a resort island you could only dream of spending the summer break on.
The only reason you had seen that post is that Ryomen, who was one of your friends from your freshman year seminar years ago, had reposted it, which earned a well-deserved eye roll from you when you saw it.
Shaking your head, you refocused your attention on Satoru, watching as he fixed his round-lensed sunglasses on his head. The action pushed his hair back, giving him a more boyish look rather than the rugged one that he seemed to wear more often.
โAre you going out tonight?โ He asked, taking a smaller step closer towards you.
Finishing your lemonade, you lowered the cup to your side. โGoing where? No one is throwing tonight.โ
Satoru couldnโt seem to fight the smirk that slowly drew on his face, โKappa is, you should come.โ
Satoru wasnโt an intimidating person; he was far from it, but he was also highly sought after. You had seen it in the way that girls seemed to throw themselves at him. He may be partly the reason why Kappa earned so much money at their charity car wash earlier that day.
Even now, as he rubbed the back of his neck in a casual outfit, you could see the appeal. He was tall with a tan that almost looked fake. His lips were full and pink, almost always looking puckered. His eyes were a different story, a bright blue that usually had people avoiding his gaze because it was so intense.
โYeah, I donโt think that's happening.โ You said with a smile, slightly regretting finishing your lemonade so quickly.
โThirsty?โ He held his tumbler out towards you with a slight smile on his face.
Clearing your throat, you glanced from the cup to Satoru, who looked so satisfied at the fact that you probably had a scowl on your face.
You opened your mouth to let out a smart-ass retort when someone gripped your arm. You turned your head to see one of the girls who had pledged last year with a panicked look on her face. โOne of the girls is throwing up in the bush. I think she drank too much.โ
Swallowing back a groan, you started to follow her, ready to scold whoever it was that it wasnโt smart to drink in this weather, when a voice rang out from behind you. โThink about my offer!โ
You barked out a sarcastic laugh, throwing your cup in the trash as you looked over your shoulder. โThought about it, no thanks!โ
Satoru grinned, his tongue prodding his cheek in amusement. โWorth a shot.โ
Suguru emerged from behind Satoru, clapping a hand on his brotherโs shoulder. โShe's funny.โ
Toji seemed to appear out of nowhere, holding a pitcher of God-knows-what in his hand.
Satoru handed his empty tumbler out to Toji, who poured the mysterious liquid into the cup. โAnnoying is more like it.โ His eyes narrowed slightly as he watched you walk off. Your laugh sounded out as you followed the younger sorority girl who had pulled you away.
You had just unpacked all of your things into your on-campus apartment, lounging on the couch with an exhausted look etched onto your face.
You were deep in a trivial conversation with Iori, who currently had the upper hand on you.
โYou give every guy who likes you a chance, admit it.โ
You shook your head at her, โSo not true, I only give them a chance if they seem nice. And I only let them take me on a date or two.โ
Ieiri walked past where you were lounging, hopping up to sit on the windowsill. โExactly, you need to learn how to chase a man away.โ
Iori grinned, โI bet you canโt even fathom scaring a guy off, youโre always worrying what theyโll think of you or what theyโll tell others.โ
You glanced up from your phone, โI could turn off any guy I wanted. I just donโt want to hurt anyoneโs feelings.โ
Iori huffed, โOkay then, how about we find you a guy whose feelings you donโt care about, to scare off, so you can prove that you can actually do it.โ
โMaybe Satoru Gojo?โ Ieiri offers, raising her cigarette to her lips as a smirk sneaks onto her face. She was currently sitting on the windowsill, her feet dangling out the window as she directed the smoke out the window, even though the wind was blowing it back inside.
Iori was already mid eye-roll, โImmediately no, he would tear her apart.โ She waved her arms around in the air, as if the smoke was clouding up the apartment.
Ieiri blew out a puff of smoke, waving it from her face as she deadpanned at Iori. โI know you saw how he was practically drooling over her already at the kick-off. I think itโs perfect.โ
You were sitting on your couch, your legs hanging off the side as you reclined against the plush seating. As much as you were trying to ignore your best friends, it was hard when they were teetering on the edge of an argument, or at least Iori was.
โIโm right here,โ you spoke, shooting the two of them a glare as you scrolled through your messages with Ryomen from when you first got back from the Greek Life Kick-Off event.
You: tell your brother to leave me alone
Ryo ๐: You know I canโt control him
Ryo ๐: You should just come tonight
Ryo ๐: He wonโt shut up about how he invited you.
You: fat chance. do you remember who my friends are??
Ryo ๐: Ask Shoko to convince Utahime
Ryo ๐: See ya tn loser
Turning off your phone, you picked your head up from the seat, looking at your friends. โWe should do something tonight before school starts up and whoops our asses.โ
Iori took a bit of the granola bar that had been sitting in her pocket all afternoon. โI heard a new bar opened up on 4th?โ
Ieiri stubbed out her cigarette before she pivoted back inside the apartment. โDown! I donโt think theyโll let us back into Stoneโs after our bar crawl last semester.โ
The last week of the spring semester last school year consisted of your friends dressing up as Disney princesses and hitting up all the bars before your senior friends graduated. Iori had gotten so drunk that you were all kicked out of your favorite bar with your names written on the โBannedโ list for who-knows-how-long.
Iori sunk in her chair, โThat wasnโt my fault, I had no idea how strong that drink would be.โ
Standing up from the couch, you walked into the kitchen and grabbed your favorite snack from the fridge. Taking a bite of the snack, you attempted to bring up the topic of the party, โI mean, if you guys want me to flirt with Satoru Gojo, of all people, Kappa is throwing tonight.โ
Holding a red solo cup with a suspicious purple liquid that the man at the bar called โHollow Purple,โ you leaned against the wood-paneled wall. There were so many people here that you could swear you could see the flooring caving in slightly when everyone started jumping and dancing to the music.
The house was packed with freshman who were eager to attend their first college party, based on how they were all bouncing off the walls and how eager they were to spend money on overcharged drinks from a bar that didnโt have a liquor license.
You, however, had given the bartender, whom you think is named Toji, a ground-leveling look. You had dared him to overcharge you for a drink that used bottom-shelf liquor and Kool-Aid mix, and some sort of pineapple juice.
Taking a small sip, your face was starting to twist into a cringe, your eyebrows furrowing while your nose scrunched up in pure disgust.
A chuckle rippled out of the person walking towards you, his eyes crinkling up, smile lines appearing in the creases near his eyes. โIs it too strong?โ Satoru asked, his voice almost like an unintentional purr as he leaned on the wall next to you.
Your eyes couldnโt seem to leave his, the blue so bright you felt you almost needed sunglasses to look into his eyes. You held up your cup awkwardly, cringing inwardly at the gesture. โIโm not really much of a drinker, I guess?โ
He nodded, holding up his drink too, โYeah, me neither.โ
You laughed, cocking up an eyebrow at him. โBased on the stench coming from you, I would guess there is only liquor in your cup.โ
The man swung his gaze to his solo cup, leaning in closer to the cup. He tilted his head, pieces of white bangs falling into his eyes as he examined the liquid. โItโs actually water,โ he leaned in, โDonโt tell anyone.โ
โIโm surprised you came.โ He smiled, turning his head towards you with bangs still slightly covering his matching white eyelashes and big eyes.
You looked down at your mixed-purple drink, โYeah, me too.โ You looked back up, gesturing to him with the cup, โAre Kappa parties usually this wild?โ
Satoru shrugged, taking a swig of the water in his hand that was still pretty much full. He merely blinked at you, โYou should see the party we throw during sylly week.โ
โIt gets crazier than this?โ Amusement laced your voice as your eyes traced his outline, watching as he leaned against the wall, his long limbs stretched out.
You had been to other frat parties before, had seen the typical drunk college kid scene, had lived through what most people would experience at a frat party, but this was a different level in itself.
It was almost a club setting, with the strobe lights and speakers that were embedded in the walls. You had a feeling your ears would be ringing when you eventually left, having to walk by the makeshift security that was outside, boys you knew were newer members all had different jobs throughout the night to keep the party going.
He hummed in delight, crossing his arms over his chest as if he was proud of himself, โYou know, we took college algebra together Freshman year, right?โ
You scoffed, a response not really coming together as your brain tried wrapping around that part. โYou were in my class? Why do I not remember that?โ
How was it that he could remember taking a minuscule class with you three years ago, and you couldnโt? You surely would have remembered having him in a class if you did.
Satoru sighed, leaning further against the wall. He looked away from you, towards the party. โI have no idea, but you were kind of hard to forget.โ
Raising your solo cup to your lips, you took a deep swig, sloshing the mixed drink in your mouth before swallowing. The drink was still just as strong; the strong taste of liquor coated your tongue, making you shiver.
Standing up from the wall, you looked around the party, โI feel like I am way too old to be here.โ
Satoru glanced from you to the party scene, then back to you. His white eyelashes fluttered as a retort left his pink lips, โYeah, same.โ
You could tell he was only saying that to flatter you, based on how his knee kept bouncing to the beat and his lips mouthing the lyrics to a rap song that was blasting through the speakers.
โTerribly,โ you replied, โYou?โ
โTired,โ his blue eyes observed the way the corner of your lips tilted up, โHungry?โ
โStarving,โ you couldnโt help but let a small smile escape, โLeaving?โ
โMaybe?โ Satoru leaned in slightly, โRide?โ
โIndeed,โ you blinked at him, gesturing to the door, โNow?โ
Satoru grabbed your hand, already heading for the door. Halfway through the house and meters from the door, he turned his head towards you. โKiss?โ
You laughed then, throwing your head back as he continued to lead you outside and to his car. โNice try.โ
Satoru grinned, dapping up one of his brothers at the door as you both exited the house.
Gripping an almost-finished burger in one hand and a fry in the other, you laughed for what felt like the hundredth time as Satoru told you about when they were setting up for the party tonight and Satoru was banned from drinking because he got drunk at the Greek Life kick-off earlier in the day.
โThere is no way you were drunk. I talked to you at the kick-off.โ You blinked confusedly at him, because he seemed okay when he decided to annoy you earlier.
โOh, after you left, I couldnโt help but keep drinking.โ He said with a sigh, resting a hand on his heart as if he were wounded.
You rolled your eyes, taking one last bite of your burger, โOh please, that should be a lesson learned for you.โ
Satoru took a sip of his milkshake as he watched you talk, his head resting against the car headrest, โDoubt it.โ
You shook your head, annoyed despite the smile on your face, before checking your watch and sighing, โI guess I should get going, I have a meeting in the morning.โ
Satoru pouted, โSo you wonโt come back to my place?โ
Letting out another laugh, you punched his shoulder, โNice try.โ
Satory laughed before setting down his milkshake in the cupholder and unbuckling his seatbelt. He opened his driverโs side door, stepping out.
Satoru walked quickly to the passenger side of the car, opening the door gently. His hand shot out to cover the top of the door in case your head came anywhere close to hitting it. He stepped back to open the door wider, letting you step out on your own.
Getting out of the car, you adjusted your purse on your shoulder. Stepping away to let Satoru shut the door, you leaned against the car. โHey,โ
Satoru lifted an eyebrow, leaning against the car as well, staring down at you. โHey.โ
A small grin rising on your face, you tilted your head slightly, looking up at Satoru through your eyelashes. โYouโll do me a favor, wonโt you?โ
His jaw paused, not working on the mint gum he had popped into his mouth when you two had originally got in the car, โWhat do you have in mind?โ
Blinking up at him, you watched as Satoru lowered his head just a fraction, his eyes buzzing with electricity.
โWill you send my number to that one guy in your frat? Choso? I think thatโs his name.โ You held your phone out.
He looked almost taken aback by your statement, as if that was the last thing he had expected out of your mouth. Loser, you thought, although you could feel your body fighting a laugh at his shocked expression.
He cleared his throat, straightening his posture. โNot happening.โ
Tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, your eyebrows couldnโt help but raise. โAnd why not?โ
โBecause I called dibs.โ
Furrowing your eyebrows, you fought the urge to roll your eyes. โDibs sounds a bit possessive, does it not?โ
Satoru merely shrugged his shoulders, the wind blowing at his hair lightly, causing the white strands to lie messily on his forehead.
Your fingers itched to reach up, but you clenched your hand into a fist to stop the impulse. โWell, itโs a good thing I was joking. I want your number.โ
An easy grin was already on Satoruโs face, one that clearly had been used to charm many girls in the past. It was such a light grin, it felt as if it was trying to pull your lips into a matching one.
Satoru reached for your phone, his fingers brushing against yours as he grabbed the phone out of your grasp. He quickly punched in his phone number, his hand grabbing yours as he turned your palm face up, placing the phone back in your hand, then closing your fingers over your phone with his hand.
His hands were warm and calloused, leaving your hand feeling uneasily cold as he withdrew away from you.
โGoodnight, donโt dream about me.โ
Letting out a snort, you stepped away from his car, โDonโt worry, I wonโt.โ
You started your walk back towards your apartment, not sparing a glance towards him. It was easier this way; besides, he was just as breathtaking far away as he was up close. When you reached your apartment door, you looked down the railing, seeing him standing there with the same easy smile painted on his face. He waved at you.
โYouโre gonna be falling at my feet before the ten days are up,โ he whispered your name like it was a promise, watching you with his precise eyes.
On the other hand, you raised your hand, waving shyly as you opened up the door to your apartment. Turning on your heels, you let a sigh as you leaned against the front door to shut it, โYouโre gonna regret ever speaking to me, Satoru.โ
