his eyes would refuse to meet hers, an overwhelming sense of guilt washed over his mind. she was so young, & yet -- endured so much. he wasn’t sure what was the right thing to say, what could possibly be considered comforting without sounding inconsiderate. lips would purse, as brows furrowed narrowly in thought. he was her father, & though he was still getting used to that role -- it felt almost wrong to him to extend that to her.
a sigh. this was hard. his head would tilt slightly, now allowing eye contact to be reestablished. ‘ so .. um. ‘ this shouldn’t be so awkward. ‘ lucina, i --- .... i’m sorry. ‘ he voiced, feeling the weight of the world fall on his shoulders. ‘ the fact that you’re here, means i failed you. you shouldn’t have gone through that. ‘ he cleared his throat, a hand rising to gently rub at the back of his neck. ‘ but... i’m glad you’re here, all the same. you’ve certainly grown into a wonderful person. i’m glad i was able to raise someone as thoughtful & smart as you. if that makes sense --- ‘ a pause. ‘ ah ! sorry, i got a little carried away there -- i know i’m your dad, but in the same way, i’m not really him, only assuming that i ... changed in the future? did i change much? ‘
